I tried to start the engine, but still I can't run away. I have poured them into the ocean, but the waves dragged me. Just the small details

We just stood in the middle of the road. Late at night. Embracing each other in a way we hadn’t done since I last came by your house.

“Are you going to tell me why you called me here?” I asked.

“I dont know...” She whispers, as she buried her head into my chest.

“I just wanted to see you”.

We just laid in the car talking and laughing about everything and nothing. I ran my fingers through your hair, your eyes closed and content. Your breathing so gentle that it felt like a warm summer breeze. You leaned against me and rested your face in the palms of my hand. How long would it be before we got to spend time together like this again?

A Hotel Room in New Orleans

“How are you feeling right now?” she said.

She was laying in the other queen bed a few feet away. The distance was torturous and necessary: she and I worked together.

“Well, I’m attracted to you. And I want to be physically close to you,” I said.

We were both uniquely familiar with the consequence of workplace love affairs. The energy in the room was delicate and precarious and beautiful. We held it with care.

“It’s something I can manage, though,” I said, grinning.

The flame behind her eyes flickered with understanding. She untucked her legs from beneath the comforter and turned to face me on the inner edge of the bed.

“Can we hug?” she said.

I think happiness is putting efforts in simple things because you are fond of that smile lighting up their face. A bright smile that makes you smile in return.. You try it because with each smile you earn, your need to see them smile grows a little. May be that gut feeling, a warmth spreading in your heart at that smile is how you be happy.
