Under the Boundless Sky || Hamish and Koda

The bear moved off of him, but Hamish could still feel itss claws in his chest, its teeth in his neck. The pain was fading, and in its place was only cold. It was so cold, freezing. Hamish tried to sit up, tried to yell, tried to call for help, tried to do anything at all to save himself, but nothing happened. It was so cold, too cold to move. Too cold to do anything. His breath came in starts, wet and bubbling like he was breathing under water. So cold... The stars. No longer could he see fur on top of him, all he could see were stars. It was a clear night, almost perfect really. The stars were bright away from the city, and they looked down on him like old friends. The stars seemed to be the only things that stayed still, the only things that didn't leave him, or yell at him, or hurt his heart. They were better than people, so much more constant. Maybe his dad was even up there, somewhere with the stars. Maybe his mum was too. Maybe he'd be with them soon. The last sighing, bubbling breath escaped his lips, and the world faded into cold, black nothingness under the boundless sky.
