We welcome Dora Mallymkun to the city. She’s 23 years old and is a bookseller. Dora is often mistaken for Milena Tscharntke. She’s taken.
Coming from a family with money meant that Dora had a very easy life. She went to a private girls school as a child. Very sensitive as a little one meant that the strict teaching only made her even quieter and quieter. She was taught to only speak when spoken to and always mind her Ps and Qs. Dora’s parents adored her though. She was their angel. Dora loved her parents back too. They always did whatever they could to make her happy and she knew that was the most important thing in the world - Being happy.
All of her life, Dora’s family took care of her. They come from money and made sure that she always got what she wanted. It was great for most of her life. But then, when she graduated from college, Dora told her parents about wanted to go out and live on her own. Unfortunately her parents said that if she was going to go out on her own, then she would be exactly that - On her own. They stopped her regular allowance and paying for her bills and housing. It was a scary decision for Dora but she knew that it was the decision that was going to make her happy.
There was very little chance that Dora would be able to afford to live alone. The thought of living with a stranger was incredibly scary. In the days building up to move, Dora actually had nightmares about it. She ended up being put in a place with Bowie though. Upon their first meet, Dora immediately felt better. He’s calm, sweet and everything Dora could have asked for in a roommate. Dora likes to try out different decor pieces in the apartment regularly. Bowie never complains. She has more blankets than she has friends. Comfort is incredibly important to her. The heating is on the moment summer ends as she hates the feeling of being cold.
Dora has the best of intentions, she really does. The woman unfortunately just lacks the drive. While all of her childhood friends had big dreams, she only wanted to be happy. People around her regularly get frustrated with her because she just plods along in life. She’s living her dream though - She’s happy. Dora is often far too gentle for her own good. You’d never catch her saying a bad word about anyone. Many often say that it’s like Dora is in a constant state of dreaming, with her head always in the clouds.
Warm, friendly, compassionate
Cowardly, lazy, forgetful
Thomas Hatter (Boss): Dora knows that she has an issue with timekeeping and always feels bad when she ends up turning up late to work. She appreciates that Thomas keeps her around though. He’s a really inspiration character. Dora sometimes finds herself having to remind him to keep a level head but she doesn’t mind. He’s the manager after all. He’s dealing with a lot of stress.
Andrew Hare (Acquaintance): Andrew is the deputy manager of the store. He’s a bit of an intimidating. For this reason, Dora is grateful that he spends most of his time in the background of the business. They remain civil with each other though. It’s just a shame Dora almost has a panic attack whenever she hears him approaching.
Bowie Fisher (Roommate): Some might say that Bowie and Dora are a roommate match made in others. Some might say it’s a pairing meant for disaster. They’re both incredibly laid back and match each other perfectly. Obviously it’s still early days and they’re still getting to know each other. But at the moment, they’re both enjoying being around each other.
Charlie Mace (Colleague): Charlie is incredibly lively. Dora finds it incredibly overwhelming. But Thomas really Charlie, which means that Dora puts up with them for that reason. They do have a talent for making even the quieter shifts fun.
Iracebeth Marmoreal (Enemy): Iracebeth is another name that Dora has learned about through Thomas Hatter. Dora thinks the woman is truly vile. She hates people who mistreats others. They’re the worst people on the planet in her opinion.
Alice Kingsleigh (Acquaintance): A dainty character, Alice often hangs around the bookstore. Dora doesn’t mind her most of the time. It’s nice having a familiar face.
Edwin White (Acquaintance): Dora knows all about Edwin and his past with Thomas. He seems fine. Edwin will often sneak into the shop and sit quietly in the back - But only when Thomas isn’t around.
