Lapis: Of all the things they'd ask me to do...
Amber: Hey, Lapis! What are you doing here muttering by yourself?
Lapis: Oh, Amber! I'm not muttering about anything.
Amber: Huh, guess I misheard you. So what are you doing here? Prince Alcryst must've called you to the gathering too, right?
Lapis: Of course, I'm on my way right now... Hehe....
Amber: You sure there's nothing bothering you? That face you're making doesn't look right.
Lapis: L-let's just head over there quickly...
Amber: Wow, I've never seen so many nobles in one place like that before. Now I understand why Prince Diamant made such a big deal about being on my best behavior.
Amber: Everything okay, Lapis? You've had that look on your face the entire time.
Lapis: *sigh* I'm just not used to being surrounded by that many nobles like that.
Amber: I guess it is pretty different compared to life on the ranch. Where were you from, again? You have to be from a farming village out in the countryside, right?
Lapis: What? You could tell?
Amber: Uh, was it a secret?
Lapis: Was I really that obvious? I tried really hard to fit in with everyone.
Amber: Hold on, I don't get it. What's wrong with being from the countryside?
Lapis: You don't feel out of place standing next to Prince Diamant?
Amber: Nope. Why would I?
Lapis: What was life like in your hometown, Amber?
Amber: My hometown? It was the best! There were tons of alpacas everywhere. It was a small village so everyone was close like one big happy family.
Lapis: That sounds a lot like my village. Every house felt like home over there. Things are pretty different now that I'm a retainer.
Amber: It's pretty cool, isn't it!
Amber: Yeah! Imagine us, ordinary folk from the countryside, becoming retainers to the Princes of Brodia. That would be a pretty awesome legend.
Lapis: I guess you're right. That is pretty impressive when you think of it that way. Thank you, Amber.
Amber: Huh? What did I do?
Lapis: There's just been something bugging me that might not be as big of a problem as I thought it was.
