Please if I can have a moment of your time,

I've been hearing talk of people binding fics into books for profit, I will make this clear Fandom is supposed to be fun. Its something people do for free. We do it to spread joy. If you print out fics for your PERSONAL enjoyment or make them into books for a PERSONAL collection (a friends or families personal collection as a gift) thats kosher in my head.

If you wanna steal people's work to make money, you're gonna discover real quick that A) fanfiction writers don't own the material and you're gonna get sued REAL quick, and B) people are not gonna share their stuff and there will be nothing for us to enjoy and for you to disrespect.

We as writers KNOW consequences can happen even if you don't intend to, it's why we saw the wave of I DO NOT OWN THE SOURCE MATERIAL OR CHARACTERS IM JUST PUTTING THEM INTO SITUATIONS THANKS because creators were worried these big companies would take them for everything they had for a silly little story that they never claimed to own. All it took was one person to get slammed. We Do Not Claim we just play. Thanks.

I don't think it's hit this fandom yet because it's not as popular as some of the others and because in my experience the DC x DP fandom is pretty chill, supportive and we love to encourage each other to create- no nastiness or pushiness that i've seen BUT

I do not condone that type of behavior and I will be keeping an eye on the situation, I would hate to have to take my stuff down so soon after finally getting the guts to post them for all of you to see and enjoy too so lets all continue to be good sports okay?

Okay so this post breached containment I think so I feel the need to clarify, because the vibes in the notes seem to suggest that people see this as an inspirational quote bestowed onto someone to help them soldier on. That's not how Ukrainians do it. Rather, imagine a person that looks like they haven't slept in three days and also hiked up a mountain. They are asked "Hey how you doing buddy", and in response they let out the deepest, most done with this shit sigh you can imagine, mutter their favourite curse word and THEN they say the phrase (which, by the way, is four words in Ukrainian - тяжко жити, шкода вмерти/tyazhko zhyty, shkoda vmerty). It's said as if they're trying to convince themselves that dying would, indeed, he a pity. The other person looks at them, their eyes full of understanding, sighs also and then says "well at least we're not russians".

And THAT is what helps a Ukrainian soldier on.

South Carolina teen falsely accused of shoplifting fatally shot by store owner: Police

A South Carolina gas station owner was charged with murder on Monday after allegedly shooting and killing a 14-year-old boy he believed was

The headlines of the two articles don't really convey how fucking horrible this was. To anyone scrolling by who wasn't going to click on the links, here is a short summary:

The store owner got his gun out, and he and his son started chasing the 14-year-old boy, because they FALSELY believed he stole FOUR BOTTLES OF WATER.

The boy who was being CHASED WITH A GUN FOR NO REASON did carry a gun, and it would have been very much justified to actually take it out (because he feared for his life since he was being CHASED WITH A GUN FOR NO REASON), but witnesses never saw it in his hands, and at no point did he actually point it at his two pursuers. He had his back towards them the entire time because he was FLEEING.

The kid stumbled and fell, dropping his gun in the process. The gun was only ever seen on the ground next to his body, it probably fell from his waistband or pocket or whatever, not his hands. And since it was dropped, he did not have it on him AT ALL when he was murdered. He was SHOT IN THE BACK WHILE LYING UNARMED ON THE GROUND.

The sheriff's report written in 2023 said that this was "not a bias-motivated incident" even though there is literally zero ambiguity that this man was just itching to shoot a Black kid. There is no other explanation for why you would take your gun out and chase him more than 100 yards over a vague, weak, unfounded suspicion that he might have stolen four (4) bottles of water. In and of itself, the train of thought "this Black kid was holding four bottles of water at some point, and now he's leaving the store, clearly there's no chance that he simply put them back, he must have stolen them" is already racist as hell. But the cops say "well there's absolutely no indication that shooting an unarmed 14-year-old Black boy because you falsely suspected him of stealing a few dollars worth of water was motivated by bias" because of fucking course they do.

The murderer was found "not guilty" because the self-defence reasoning was accepted even though multiple witnesses confirmed that the kid did not have a gun out as he was running from the store, and definitely did not point it at his pursuers at any point. If anything, the kid would have been the person for whom self-defence would have been justified since he was the one being actively chased with a gun.
