Mesmerizing life of a common mortal

I'm looking for the painting which has 5 men in a row, grieving or at least destressed. They are side by side, sitting on chairs and wearing dark tattered clothes. It shows how near they are but how far away there mentally are. It's a good painting for mental illness. PLEASE HELP ME FIND IT

Oldenburg and the North Sea: as we arrived on the sunny but bitterly cold cost of Germany, I was bewildered at the number and harmony of wave surfers. It's incredible watching them slide around without ever knocking into on an other. Of course we had to swim but we were probably the only ones to even think of going into the water wearing only swimsuits. A refreshing experience but do bring warm clothes after!

Next to the biggest park in Berlin (Tierische Park) and the Brandenburger Tor, are the big blocks in commemoration to the Jews and others who died during the war. These sculputres were made by architect Peter Eisenman and engineer Buro Happold. The Holocaust memorial is an eerie and unreal square to walk through.

As you take the U-bahn a couple stops from the center, you arrive in a housing neighborhood with, in it's center, the Charlie checkpoint. Famous for a point of turnover between the US and Russia, it is now simply a box and a street. If you are into history it is interesting but otherwise it is probably not worth the detour (in my opinion). Close by you will find the Berlinische Museum and some other good museums.

Who would have thought you needed four different views of the TV-tower? Before we arrived, I had heard a lot about the tower. It's the central landmark which helps you (as a tourist) not to get completely lost. We went up to the top one evening and I have three things: the view is incredible (especially at sunset), you should definitely get a ticket beforehand and it's only really worth it once.

Schloss Sans-souci in Potsdam

A beautiful park full of many different structures. Most of the paths are made to be walked on so there is little chance of being run over by a bike! The Schloss itself is grand but there are also many other old and beautiful monuments, as well as the university.

Four magical looking places in Berlin: A Hof (court), the Hbf (main station)’s glass windows, an old graveyard that was moved when the “no man’s land” was built (all the graves were pushed back a bit to make room, now the whole graveyard has been reerected where it once was), and an other small Hof.

Pergamom Museum, Berlin 

A museum full of light with a background murmur of people talking and shuffling around. Of course, the main attraction was the blue and gold portal that takes up the most space...

As the night rolled on, we stumbled upon a “house of horrors”. In a small courtyard sat a few people, the whole thing was supernatural and creepy but in a good way: it was fantastic. Upstairs was a museum, in between were many bits of artwork from local artists (copyright reasons we were not allowed to photograph). In the underground we were lead by a friendly and outgoing man through a series of old mechanical and loud props. The whole experience was extraordinary.

This place is located just outside the Alexanderplatz but I wouldn’t be able to tell you were exactly.

As we walked through the rainy streets of Berlin in November (2020), we found a couple independent and small artists whose doors were open. They were actually along a whole street and this is a piece of artwork I photographed. Sadly I don't have a reference but it would be more than welcome if anyone recognised this.

Berlinische Galerie: located at walking distance form the Charlie Checkpoint, this modern art museum in Berlin makes your eyes go up and your mouth open. I had an incredible experience in this museum and the art is absolutely mind-boggling. Also, each room has enormous ceilings, making the space extraordinarily impressive.

This particular exposition is “The Blow-Up Regime” GASAG Art Prize 2020, by Marc Bauer. It should, if corona permits, be open till the 16.8.21.

More of the Berlin Wall, just as marvellous yet painful to see. We could use bittersweet but that would be terrible to all the victims. The second WW was horrid and gruesome, no matter how artistic and painted this part of the wall is, we musn’t forget it’s signification and the purpose it once served. I was bewildered in front of this historical monument, but it’s length and many tourists took some of the beauty away.

Berlin Wall: East Side Gallery

With the heat of the summer bearing down our tired bodies, we saw the Berlin Wall. We marvelled at the art but felt the pain that was hidden under so many layers of paint: a majestic yet touristic kilometre.
