You came back from your evening run, kicked off your shoes, and flicked on the hallway light only to jump a foot in the air.
The sudden glow revealed a man sitting in your living room, next to the open window, calmly smoking.
āJax,ā you exhaled, half in shock, half in relief. āHow the hell did you get into my house?ā
He didnāt answer just tilted his head toward the open window. That smug little smile of his said it all.
You sighed. Of course.
āAnd whose kid is that?ā
Your stomach tightened. Clearly, while you were gone, heād gone exploring probably looking for you and found the sleeping child instead.
āJackie,ā you said, walking over and snatching the cigarette from his fingers, snuffing it out without asking. āHeās my friendās son.ā
āAnd whatās he doing here?ā Tellerās eyes stayed locked on yours, sharp and searching, like he was trying to read between every line you werenāt saying. (Gif)
āShe leaves him with me sometimes⦠Itās a long story.ā
āShe trying to get her life back together?ā he asked, standing abruptly, a flicker of something darker in his voice.
āThat too,ā you admitted with a sigh.
āAnd what about your life? Doesnāt she care about what that looks like? Are you even sure sheās your friend?ā
āListen, babeā¦ā You placed your hands gently on his chest, instinctively trying to calm him. āI donāt have all the answers, but Timmy loves me. And I love him. Itās not that simple.ā
āShe needs a good smack, that one,ā Jax muttered, gripping your hands tightly in his.
āYou mad at me?ā you asked, a little smile tugging at your lips.
āDamn right I am,ā he said coolly. āWhy didnāt you tell me about him?ā
āWhat for?ā
āBecause I deserve to know everything about the woman Iām gonna marry. Especially about whoās sleeping in her bed while Iām gone.ā
āOh, come on,ā you laughed. āYour real competition is, what twenty years away from growing a beard?ā
He grinned. āTomorrow morning, Iām picking him up on the bike. Gonna take him for a ride.ā
āHeād love that,ā you admitted, heart melting a little at the thought.
āThen thatās settled.ā Jax headed for the door, then turned back with a wicked glint in his eye. āBy the way, Iāll be sure to tell him it was you who kept us from meeting sooner. Pretty cold, keeping a boy from his dreams.ā
āNooo!ā you laughed, chasing after him. āYou wouldnāt dare.ā
āThen maybe you should think about what youāre willing to offer me⦠to keep my mouth shut,ā he said, winking as he disappeared into the night.
What aboutā¦Sleazy Daddy Pete + sweet + rough day (can be work related or just a rough day in general)
(at first I was thinking reader, but Iām switching it up so Pete gets to have the bad day lol, also sorry if itās a boring promptš¬)
Hahahaha Pete probably deserves the bad day, letās be real š
I think this will be the last one for tonight, as Iām getting tired, but Iāll peck away at the remaining asks when I have time ā¤ļø
When Pete knocked back his second tumbler of whiskey without even giving himself a chance to taste it, you knew it was time to step in.
As he reached for the bottle to pour his third drink, you intercepted his hand.
āNot nowāā he started, but his words died away when you brought his big hand to your face and gently kissed his knuckles.
āThere are other ways to soothe away a bad day,ā you murmured, pressing another soft kiss to his skin. āBetter ways.ā
A hint of a smolder sparked to life in Peteās baby blues, and he didnāt resist as you led him over to the sofa and guided him down to a sit. A moment later, you carefully straddled his lap.
Cradling Peteās handsome face between your hands, you leaned in and kissed him slowly. Languidly. Keeping the press of your lips and the slip of your tongue slow and tantalizing.
Peteās hands settled on your hips, gripping tightly as you pulled away but stayed close, gently peppering his face with soft kisses. The tip of his nose, his forehead, his left cheek then his right.
You placed another lingering kiss to his pillow soft lips before twining your arms around his neck and pressing your chest flush to his.
āLove you,ā you murmured, knocking your nose against his. āAnd Iām sorry you had a bad day.ā
Pete was nearly purring now, his hands slowly dragging up and down your back, urging more of your weight against him. āWell, if anyone can turn my frown upside down, itās you.ā
Giggling, you kissed his cheek before resting your own against his shoulder, your fingers gently tugging on the hair at the nape of his neck.
āHow about I run us a bath?ā You hummed. āWell soak for awhile, then Iāll give your shoulders and back a massage.ā Your face warmed as you whispered, āThen you can fill me up and Iāll keep you warm the rest of the night. Howās that sound?ā
Ok but can we take a moment to look at the next to last pic where Ariās looking at Johnny like heās proud of the work heās done (or maybe just charmed by Johnny idk lol) š„°š„°
ā ļø: pretty much all fluff, mention of past hidden pregnancy

Youād think he was a teenage boy about to ask his crush to prom how nervous he was walking up the short, concrete driveway. Smoothing his hands on the front of his jeans trying to get rid of the moisture starting to form. Just as he reaches the door of the two-story townhouse, he checks his phone - again - making sure you hadnāt changed your mind at the last minute. Heās glad to see the last message is still your address along with instructions to be careful of the neighborās dog if it happens to be outside.
āHeās a bit overly friendly and forgets heās a tank.ā
The alarm chimes twice before he hears your voice through itās speaker saying, ājust a minute.ā Ari thinks it mightāve been a good idea if he took a minute himself while he was still in the truck. Heās been all over the place since last night when you brought up the idea to meet, barely being able to sleep from his newfound adrenaline boost.
He hopes he doesnāt potentially ruin the day being so eager. Or scare her by coming on too strong.
You either.
Ari hears the clicks of locks as they unlatch and briefly watches the golden knob turn before your body comes into view. Skin glowing with the upper part of your braids in a ponytail while the others freely hang along your shoulders, his heartbeat skips meeting your deep brown eyes. You really had this man in a chokehold all from one night years ago.
āH-Hey.ā You sound just as nervous as Ari felt.
āHey. Uh, havinā a good day so far?ā
āUm yea..Iād say so.ā
āThatās good!,ā he smiles stuffing his hands in his jean pockets. āGlad to hear.ā
āAnd you?ā
He shrugs. āI canāt complain.ā
āGood,ā you nod with your own warm smile. Both of you hoping this awkwardness wouldnāt continue throughout the day.
Heās just about to ask if youāre ready when footsteps and jingles grow louder as they run up to you hiding behind the ripped jeans covering your legs and knocking you forward just a hair. The bottom, flared hem of a pink dress with white polka dots peeks out from the sides along with shiny, dark curls while little Mari hides her face in the back of your thighs.
And this time, Ariās breath lodges in his throat while his heart completely stops for what feels like minutes. A heat rising and pulsing his ears watching you bend down to the little girlās height.
āHey pumpkin! So remember how I said a while back how Coach Ari is an old friend of mommyās?,ā you sweetly ask. She slowly nods briefly looking up to meet his soft, blue eyes and tilted smile before you have her attention again. āWell I invited him to see the movie with us and hang out for a while. I hope thatās okay?ā
It takes a few seconds of silence until sheās whispering something in your ear, and Ari feels his heart begin to sink.
āHm..Iām not sure, but you can ask him,ā you reply standing to lift her onto your hip as you turn back towards the bulky brunette who was waiting with bated breath. āMari has a very important question sheād like to ask you.ā
āUm..yea sure! Iām all ears Mari.ā
āDoā¦D-Do you like mermaids?,ā she asks trying her best to speak up, but it still comes out as an adorable whisper.
āActually I do. In fact Iām pretty sure I met one once.ā Her eyes widen with awe making Ari smile harder. āShe was very pretty; had the most angelic voice you could listen to for hours. But one day she disappeared.ā
His gaze briefly shifts to yours causing your cheeks to warm realizing he just might be referring to you. āDeep down, I always hoped one day sheād come back.ā
āI uh think weāre all ready to go now,ā you state not wanting to drift down memory lane for too much longer. āI just need to get her car seat and-,ā
āI already got one.ā His sudden revelation has your eyebrow slightly lifted pausing from adjusting you purse on your unoccupied shoulder. Was he already trying to buy things so heād be able to take care of Mari? If so, youāre a little surprised by his enthusiasm, yet also feel your heart warm how ready he seems to be for this new role.
āI bought it some time ago since I watch my friendās son sometimes. Heās the same age so it should be fine. Unless youād rather bring your own?..ā
āNo itās okay. Iām sure yours is good.ā
āSo, we ready to go?ā
You nod stepping outside with your little girl in tow to lock your front door. āLooks like.ā
ā¢
Ari doesnāt think heāll ever get over how Mari was your mini me, but also had so much of him as well.
Her smile. The way her eyes crinkled when she laughed. How meek she was with everyone except those she trusted. It reminded Ari so much of himself when he was a little boy.
He thought heād melt right there on the spot when she asked for a blue icee - well specifically, a āblue juiceā. His own personal favorite since he was young.
She sat in her seat between the two of you like a little adult quietly sipping her drink as her eyes remained on the screen and that alone. The only time she said something was whenever she had to use the restroom or wanted some of your popcorn. Ari felt like a bit of a creep occasionally glancing at her to gauge her reaction to the movie - and just to look at her if he was being honest - but he couldnāt help it. He was entranced and could feel himself getting attached already by his little girl.
His girl. He still couldnāt fully wrap his head around it, but he loved the sound of it.
His eyes were still on her now, carefully watching as she ran around the playground mostly playing by herself as other little ones ran around her.
āSometimes I think maybe I should have her see someone because sheās so shy. Like it might be something more,ā you speak staring at Mari as she slides down the plastic structure to then re-climb the steps and do it again, ābut then again, I donāt want her or anyone thinking sheās different, or that thereās something wrong.ā
āSheāll grow out of it,ā Ari states wiping his hands on the napkin beside him. āTrust me, I was the same way.ā You slowly nod getting back to your half eaten fries.
Both of you surrendering to the silence between you not really knowing what to say next. Your guilt was too loud in your mind to try for casual conversation.
āCan you tell me more about her? If thatās too much I-,ā
āNo, of course not. Sheās your daughter too Ari, itās perfectly fine,ā you reply matching his soft smile. āLetās seeā¦she loves dolls. Her favorite is her babydoll rightfully named Baby. Loves being outside, which is a blessing and a curse. Peanut butter sandwiches and cheez-itz are her go to snack. Sheās not a big fan of jelly-,ā
āBecause of the texture. But let me guess, sheāll eat jello right?ā
āExactly. H-How did you-,ā
Ari chuckles to himself scratching his bearded jaw. āThe Levinsonās are a peculiar group as my dad would say.ā Looks like Mariās name was fitting in more ways than one.
āAnd here I was thinking she was my mini me,ā you softly chuckle.
āSheās a mini both of us. Which I guess all parents could use to describe their child really..y-you know what I mean though.ā Both of you now back to gazing at your little girl, that heavy feeling returns in the pit of your stomach how all this couldāve been so different.
But no. Your head just had to get in the way.
āI know Iāve said it before, but Iām sorry,ā you finally speak taking in his model-esque side profile. āMe not telling you wasnāt with ill intent I swear. I-I..ā
āY/N I know. You did what you thought was best. I understand.ā His half smile makes his words seem true, but the hurt you can see in his eyes tells a different story. Like he has more to say, but decided to push it away instead of confronting it.
āWhen do you uh think we should tell her?,ā he asks nervously holding his hands together beneath the table. His knee bobbing up and down as well.
āIām not sure. I donāt want to dump something big like this on her not knowing how sheāll react. Sheās young, but still you know?..ā
Truthfully itās not the answer he wanted to hear, but he understood. Itās one thing introducing a stranger into a childās life, but when said stranger is her long lost father - who didnāt know of her existence until about a month ago - expectantly things could get a bit overwhelming.
āI get it.ā
āItāll be soon though,ā you smile placing a comforting hand on his still bouncing knee. It calms him enough to stop, nodding as he meets your eyes, but thereās still that hint of disappointment that makes your curled lips slightly fall.
You couldnāt fault him if he didnāt believe you after what you did. Youād admittedly be leery and expectant of the worse yourself.
Just as youāre lips part to try and get him to reveal his true feelings, you hear a dull thud followed by an āowā coming from the swings. Ariās up and beside her just as you round the picnic table gently helping her to her feet as she brushes the mulch from her dress.
āYou okay? Anything hurt?,ā he asks cautiously looking over her arms and legs making sure he didnāt see any cuts or scrapes. Mari simply shakes her head before attempting to get on the swing again. Itās a bit higher than what sheās used to. āWant me to help get you up there? Or get your mom to help?ā
Sheās quiet for a moment, seemingly content with lightly moving the rubber seat back and forth before turning to Ari patiently squatting. āHelp please.ā
Meanwhile, you watch from your seat with eyes beginning to water as your daughter lets her father carefully push her. Getting higher bit by bit, and too young to realize just how profound the one act was for both of them.
A/N: This is a bit of a teaser to an idea Iāve been thinking of for a while that I hope you guys enjoyedāŗļøāØ! Also, I didnāt intend for this to come out on Fatherās Day, nor is it specifically Fatherās Day themedā¦but here we are š¤·š½āāļø lol.
