Psychedelic and Vintage Animations by Richard Balzer

Based in New York, artist Richard Balzer’s obsession with praxinoscopes, camera obscuras, anamorphic mirrors, zoetropes and other optical mechanisms is manifested in his animated work on his Tumblr blog. The psychedelic and whimsical illustrations possess a vintage sensibility, which is uniquely composed with the use of a spinning disc. The  phenakistoscopes (one fo these first devices used to developed animated figures to create the illusion of motion) reveal morbid and antique designs, which mirror a mid 19th-century European fashion.

i didn’t get the job but i also haven’t smonked wheat in over a week. my sense of smell has heightened and i continue feeling increasing mental acuity. i thought i picked up a cold, but my symptoms were more akin to withdrawal. i’m surprised because i genuinely believed vaping was superior to smoking; now i feel that while it’s less irritable to the lungs (no more hacking coughs since i switched to the pax), vaping still dried out my sinuses.
