Family is a difficult subject for me

My brothers in town. So my dad and stepmom are wanting to have as much family time as possible.

I get it. The absentee son comes home for the first time in a couple of years.

But I don't like spending time with my family.

Their standards are so high for me and the double standards they have for my brother and I drive me crazy.

It's like they expect me to fail at everything. And when I successfully accomplish something they're shocked that I made it. While my brother on the other hand gets praised for everything.

It feels like he can do no wrong in their eyes.

It feels like I can do no right in their eyes.

I haven't lived at home since my husband and I got together. But every time we have dinner with my parents the feeling creeps back in that I am never going to be enough.

I am judged constantly. For everything.

I often tell people that spite keeps me alive. But it's fucking exhausting.

Being around my family is emotionally draining.

And I'm tired.
