does it feel infantilizing and borderline ableist to anyone else that the majority of phys disability discord servers/groups, even if they're 18+, require you to censor mentions of drinking, weed or even smoking cigarettes? particularly smoking, like, those are normal things that adults do, including disabled adults. yeah it's bad for your health, we all know that, but a lot of people in disability spaces moralize it to the point it's frowned upon to merely mention a cheeky morning fag in a space full of other disabled ppl and i don't understand why
I want to get an idea of how other people do or don't experience chronic pain.
Please describe your pain level on an average day- not the worst it gets, but not the best either.
I don't experience any pain on an average day
I don't normally think about pain, but it's sometimes there
I have pain in at least some positions or during some regular activities
even sitting in a comfortable position, there's a distracting amount of pain
I need special tools or plans to get around my pain symptoms and do things
even with special tools or plans, I have limited ability to do things
I need support from other people to do even personal care and hygiene
it's hard for me to tell because other disabilities create different challenges
most days, it isn't bad, but I have severe flare-ups sometimes
