We LGBT Safe Haven are a nonprofit public organization designed to equip homeless LGBT teens and young adults with a safe and loving space of protective security, fully furnished, free women sanitary products, a drop in center for needed support and job opportunities, free HIV testings, free meals and water, a resting place and more to protect the young lives of our community. As many are disowned and rejected by families, homeless shelters, and women shelters simply for their sexual orientation.
We’re currently looking to open our first site in Atlanta, GA before 2019. Our mission is to open 5 sites in areas with high percentages of homeless LGBT youths as we’re beginning with our first in Atlanta.
Atlanta is quickly becoming first in the nation for LGBT homelessness, has more than 950 homeless LGBT youth a night and their lives are resulted into crime within 48 hours. Additionally, suicides and violence against LGBT youths have been a result of them not having a safe space to live and we want to end these tragedies one step at a time with our safe haven.
Our youth are dying in the streets of Atlanta. A huge part of our community, trans women of color are being murdered, we have to do something.
