MAYHEM AND CHURCH BURNING
--------------------------------
Theres not alot of counts of Mayhem as a group burning churches but ive found information from quora and wikis, here is what ive found, some is reworded.
Wendy Carolan's answer: As a group, or in separate incidents? As a group they didn’t - although Mayhem guitarist Euronymous - who was later
Euronymous has traveled to Holmenkollen Chapel with Faust (of Emperor) and Varg Vikernes (of Burzum) with the intention of bombing it. When the homemade bomb they put on the altar refused to detonate, they soaked hymnals and Bibles in gasoline and lit them on the altar, burning the church to the ground.
Vikernes then joined Mayhem a year after band member Dead committed. Vikernes was later convicted of four church burnings, including that of the Fantoft Stave Church, an eleventh-century national landmark (now rebuilt).
He later used a picture of the burned church for the cover of his EP Aske. (English translation: Ash):
----------------------------------------------------------
Varg Vikernes
On 16 May 1994, Vikernes was sentenced to 21 years in prison (Norway's maximum penalty) for the murder of Euronymous, the arson of three churches, the attempted arson of a fourth church, and for the theft and storage of 150 kg of explosives.
It seems that Varg was the one who did the most church burning in mayhem.
----------------------------------------------------------
in April of 1992 The Fantoft Stave Church burning had started the war between Norwegian churches vs black metal in Norway.
after the Fantoft Stave was burnt down it set of a chain of numerous church burnings in norway, said that there was over 50 churches burned
Those convicted for church burnings showed no remorse and described their actions as a symbolic "retaliation" against Christianity in Norway.

Pelle ohlin was never seen as a actual person by some people - but as a prop to fuel an evil image for black metal.
"Pelle wasn't a guy you could know very well. I think even the other guys in Mayhem didn't know him very well. He was hard to get close to. I met him two weeks before he died. I'd met him maybe six to eight times, in all. He had lots of weird ideas. I remember Aarseth was talking about him and said he did not have any humor. He did, but it was very obscure. Honestly, I don't think he was enjoying living in this world, which of course resulted in the su|cide."
-Bård "Faust" Eithun
"He didn't see himself as human; he saw himself as a creature from another world. He said he had many visions that his blood has frozen in his veins, that he was dead. That is the reason he took that name. He knew he would d_e."
