Dead Heads Then and Now Project
Were you following the GratefulDead back in the 80’s and 90’s? Do you remember being photographed in the parking lot of a show against a backdrop like this? If so, I’m looking for you.
I photographed almost 200 fellow Dead Heads back then, capturing the spirit of this amazing period of music history while in the parking lot of Alpine Valley in WI, Rosemont Horizon in IL, and Deercreek in IN.
Now, as we approach the 50th anniversary show at Soldier Field this July, it’s time to showcase the endurance of the Dead Heads as well as the band. My hope is to re-photograph as many of you as possible and publish a book showing you then and now. I would also love for each of you that I re-photograph to write a short paragraph about what it means to be a Dead Head, the influence of the Grateful Dead on your life, or whatever you want to help others understand the Dead Head within you.
Check out my website at www.billlemke.com where there are more of the Dead Head images but this is nowhere near all of them. If you recognize yourself or someone else OR you remember being photographed but don’t see it posted, please get in touch. I opened a separate account for this project to keep things organized, so please write at [email protected] or call me at 262-968-1928.

please re-post and share wherever you can. The 50th anniversary concert is fast approaching!
