Fanworks/Fandom Policies

I've been getting a lot of messages asking about my policies regarding my fanworks/fanfic recently, so I wrote up some blanket policies regarding some of the topics I'm asked about most often.

Policy Talk with Deam:

Works based on mine: If you are inspired by one of my works, feel free to follow that sparkly unicorn muse wherever it takes you. I am absolutely fine with remixes, sequels, podfics, translations, fanart, etc. of my work. More than one person is allowed to remix/podfic/whatever a specific work. You don't have to ask permission. Just be sure to link it back to me so I know! ❤️ If you are able to also message me a link, that is much appreciated (in case I miss it).

Prompts: You can send me prompts/fic requests through asks on Tumblr. I can't make any guarantees on when/if I will fill them, but I try my hardest to fill as many prompts as possible. If it's for a fandom/pairing you've never seen me write for, you are still welcome to ask, but again, no guarantees.

Tags/Warnings: I try to tag anything that I think might be upsetting to some readers. Things like character death/angst/violence or other disturbing themes will have the Archive warnings and tags. Sometimes I elaborate in the top author's note of the fic if I feel it needs clarification. PLEASE feel free to reach out and ask if a certain fic has something triggering before reading it if you aren't sure. I don't mind. I never want my fics to be a triggering experience. And, of course, please give anything you aren't comfortable with a pass! ❤️

Collabs/Co-Creator Projects: It depends! I'm not against collaborating with others at all, so feel free to reach out if you want to work with me on a project. It honestly depends on how much free time I have then, if I think I can do it justice, etc., so I can't make any guarantees. Even if I can't directly collab on it, I'll try to help where I can (even if that means just referring you to someone more capable than myself).

Everything Else: Reach out! I'm a flakey ADHD scatterbrain, so it may take me a few days to get back to you, but I do my best. 😅

Title: Loose Lips Sink Ships (1/1)

Pairing: Goh/Ash/Gary

Summary:

Goh has a little too much to drink at his birthday party. Luckily, Gary volunteers to get him home safely. Or maybe unluckily, since Goh is a chatty drunk and Gary fucking Oak is the last person he wants to be spilling his secrets to.

Goh rouses at the sound of Gary’s voice, lifting his head off the wall to squint at him in the dim lighting. “Gary?”

“Yeah. I’m here to take you home.” Gary is prepped for a fight, honestly. Or a few acidic remarks about Gary needing to mind his own business, at the very least.

He doesn’t expect Goh’s face to split into a delighted grin right before he flings himself at Gary, arms wrapping around his neck. He lets out a little “oof” sound on impact, instinctively wrapping his arms around Goh’s middle to keep the younger man steady.

“You made it!” Goh cries, burying his face in the crook of Gary’s neck. “Thought you weren’ comin’.”

I genuinely could think of a multitude of combos that could work here. Or are we talking about the professor/research community in general? I do like to envision they all have a group chat (maybe minus Elm, because who has time for that amount of notifications?) that is incredibly cursed.

do you perhaps have any stray ideas/scenarios/etc for the rivalry/goh albright verse (lol)? recently reread it and it just cemented itself as one of my favorite fics of yours so i need crumbs of them hehe

I... have a half-finished sequel piece to that, actually. It's been sitting in my drafts for... a long time, like many things, sadly. IIRC, it takes place when the students finally get to go on a research trip with Gary and Goh, and they figure out the REAL reason no one wants to fdjskfnsdjk.

I'll have to put that project further up on my to-do list!

I recently reread a bunch of your fics, and I usually never read unfinished works but I just adore your writing so much. I just wanted to say I hope you’re doing well!

Oh my gosh! Tysm! As someone who also doesn't read many unfinished works (I'm sorry, guys, I'm too impatient. I am one of those stay-up-all-night-reading-a-book-I-like-in-one-day-and-then-binge-the-whole-series-in-a-week types), I take that as a high compliment!

I'm good! I had some health issues I've been dealing with for the past few months, but I'm on the mend! I'm hoping to get back on my every-other-week posting schedule again, even. I might post a poll later to see what everyone wants to see updated next because I'm bad at deciding what to work on fgjdngkdfjngdk.

Gary and Goh must be the primary focus of your work. Having other relationships on the side or in the background is totally fine, but the main one should be the relationship between Gary and Goh.

Otherwise, the only rule is to have fun!!

FAQ:

Q: Is x kind of content allowed? A: Create any kind of content you like (please note that AI-generated content does not count as creating, in the scope of this event). The only rule is that it must be primarily focussed on the relationship between Gary and Goh. Just make sure to tag your work appropriately so people who may not want to see certain types of content can avoid it.

Q: If I can’t post on a specific day, can I post it on a different day even if it doesn’t fit that day’s theme? A: Of course! Posting late (i.e. after the event has ended) is also fine! Just please don’t post anything for the event before it has begun!

Q: How will my work be shared? A: The mod (that’s me, kohakhearts) will reblog any and all appropriately tagged works to their blog, but there is not a dedicated blog for the event. However, any works posted to AO3 can be added to the collection I made for the event here. As a reminder, you can post more than just fanfiction on the Archive, so don’t be shy about using the collection to share your work! Any and all works posted to the collection will be unrevealed until May 28th (00:00UCT). After that point, the collection will be open and unmoderated. It will not close, ever. So feel free to post any late entries!

Q: Do I need to complete every day to participate? A: Absolutely not!! Posting for just one day is more than fine.

Q: Do works need to be completed upon posting to be conisdered part of the event? A: Nope! Post the first chapter of that fic you've been thinking about, those first few panels of a comic, whatever you like! If you finish creating the rest during the remainder of the week, that's great, but also not required. Even if you aren't sure you'll ever finish it, don't let that stop you!

Q: Can I post multiple creations for a single day? A: Go for it! Whether you post one thing during the entire week or 28 different things, it will be well-loved! Do what makes your heart happy!
