You’re not usually one for such a short dress, but it’s a special occasion. You’ve never been to a Supernatural convention. You know there’s next to no chance that you’ll catch the attention of your celeb crush, Jensen Ackles, but you dress your best anyway. Can’t hurt, right?
Standing in line for your photo op, you wish the fans weren’t blowing quite so forcefully. Your dress keeps threatening to fly up Marilyn Monroe-style, and even though you’re wearing your cutest satin panties, you certainly don’t intend to let everyone in the convention hall have a peek at them.
You tug at the dress and move forward at a glacial pace. When you’re about ten people out, you catch Jensen’s eyes on you. Surely you’re imagining things…but no. There they are again, all green and all focused on you. Your legs, more specifically.

Advice from an English teacher
I love the fanfic I read on Tumblr. There are some truly talented people out there (and some truly dirty ones too, which I enjoy 😈).
That said, when you are writing, please proofread before you post!
We all make mistakes, but some of the biggest distractions for me when I'm trying to get into a good story are homophone errors and switching tenses. Master the difference between you're and your. Memorize when to use there, their, and they're. It really makes a huge difference for your readers.
And if your story is in present tense (he pushes me against the wall, she levels him with her cold gaze, he kisses her gently, etc.), great! It can be really cool to read a fic with an I'm-right-there-with-you, in-the-moment feel, but don't switch halfway to past tense (he pushed me against the wall, she leveled him with her cold gaze, he kissed her gently, etc.). Pick a tense and commit to it. Then go back and reread your story out loud. It will help you to catch those little errors you might not otherwise catch. Oh, or switch to a different or bigger font. Sometimes that helps me see mistakes I didn’t see when I was maniacally typing my first draft.
I hope I don't sound like a pompous asshole here. I really don’t mean to. And those of you who know me know that I’m genuinely just trying to be helpful. I love the work I get to read on Tumblr and I appreciate the creativity, dedication, and courage it takes to share those stories with strangers on the internet. But I hope I can help you to make your stuff even better. 😊
