Dear Leon, my best friend is a Prince-the crown prince to be exact. I have a pretty nice life, and he has always been very generous and treated me like a brother. Yet despite all of this, I have become a bitter, whiskey drinking borderline ass hole broody man, and I have no other reason other than resenting the fact I have a prince for a friend. How I do I shed all of this nonsense and act like a person?
Hello Friend, thank you for being the first piece of advice given by ‘Dear Leon’!
I think you realise that there are some problems, and they say the first step to making things better is to admit there’s a problem, so that’s a great start!
You say you have a pretty nice life? When I am feeling low, I try to focus on the positives I have in my life-like my friends, my car, my favourite places. If you can focus on how good those special things are and how happy they make you, it can steer you away from the negatives that are bothering you and makes a huge difference to your mood.
You mention whisky, if you feel like you’re drinking a lot or often, that could be making you feel low too. Alcohol can be a little fun now and then, but too much can be dangerous and unhealthy. Maybe try cutting down on how much you drink for a week or two and see if you feel a difference?
You don’t say if you exercise, but I’d highly recommend starting some sort of exercise regime. Exercise releases chemicals in your body that elevate your mood - I weightlift regularly and if I miss a few days because of my job, I can really feel it! Plus, looking good always gives me a confidence boost!
It sounds like you have a great relationship with your friend, could you talk to him about how you’re feeling? Maybe he could give you some more insights and help you to look at things in a more positive light?
Good luck friend, I hope things work out for you, Leon
