[pm] My expertise is the bridge between life and death, not what happens after. Who is your exorcist? My concern is the shadow coyotes interfering with the exorcism, as they’re very protective if the host is hurt. We’ll need a way to draw them away from the host and keep them away. I’d volunteer myself, but my magic isn’t very offiensive so I would need support.

[pm] You killed it? On purpose? I, uh, I mean I’m talking to an exorcist. And a phoenix librarian who knows about the supernatural and is good at researching this shit.

And yeah, I am. Unfortunately. 

[pm] Yes. I was troubleshooting a spell, it was my test subject. I’m not overly surprised it wants me dead, I just didn’t know animals could possess humans. 

Right. I’ll start digging through my texts, see if I can find anything of use for your exorcist and librarian to use, such as where it was buried, anything like that. I’ve been haunted before,  but I’ve never seen anything like the shadow coyotes before.

[pm] I was the one to kill it. If a cat has nine lives, this coyote had eleven. It has a grudge. My exorcist hasn’t been replying to my texts for the last few months, so I suspect they bit the dust when those roots covered the town. Do you have a plan to get her exorcised?

[pm] I’ve been assuming you’re reasonably clued in; I have neither time nor inclination here to provide Wicked’s Rest 201.

[pm] That’s putting it lightly. She showed up to my apartment with a bodyguard to rob me and take the fucking bones back. Had bullshit shadow ghost coyotes with her, too. Fucking great.

Last time you cried?

A few months back in the ER. Sometimes I'll go through periods when the tragedy of pointless death we see every day really gets to me. Never in front of the patients, but when things go that way I think it's healthier for me to feel it and let the feeling be and then get back to work, rath than stifle it and let it grow in me like mycelium threads.

I may be out of touch, but I don’t think this is a normal thing to be concerned about. Not that I’ve heard of, but now I’ll be keeping an ear to the ground. Of all things, why a worm?

You would think not, wouldn’t you? This is the Wicked’s Rest, so there might be a caster or worse on the loose but all the same 

I suppose some would perceive it as a truly uninteresting thing to be, and a bit unappealing. Easy to crush too.
