Rose’s smile slowly slipped into a more neutral expression, turning to curiosity, cautiously so. “..>I suppose I never met them, so I wouldn’t know if they were you but… Its a dangerous game to play. Then again, if anyone could run from death I suppose a reaper would best know how.” Her smile returned as a confident smirk her slur dropped entirely. If they were who they said they were then respect was in order. Its not everyday you meet a dead girl after all, even if they were very much alive and intended to stay that way. “Are you really though? I can hardly prove you arent of course but are you really they?”

There weren’t many who would try and take up the title of reaper in their line of business. But those who did certainly set a high bar for themselves, and those who lasted under the title often delivered. The blonde looked on with wide eyes, anticipating what they might say. Yes her curiosity was certainly high as it were and hers was not one easily quenched, if they weren’t careful they would end up burried under a pile of her questions.

Her grin transforms into a delighted beam as they click on her nickname, leaning forward against the table. “I knew you’d manage it! Guess you weren’t as inebriated as you let on, huh?” She slides her now empty drink to the side, folding her arms atop the wooden table. “There aren’t many ways but perhaps this will prove my identity.”

“Renewed in fire from the doldrums of what previously existed, a phoenix from the flame.” She speaks quietly yet clearly for them to hear, unbuttoning her cuff and rolling her left sleeve up slowly to the elbow. The skin underneath is still healing from vicious burns and scarring, clear evidence of her being hit by an explosion. The aries symbol is tattooed on the underside of her wrist, clear to them when she turns her arm so they can see the rest of the damage. “Quite literally as you can see.” She grins, and leans her scarred hand against her cheek, meeting their lilac eyes. “Does that evidence suffice?”

“Hey she has her own charms. And her reputation certainly proceeds her, yes, I am well aware of what she does. Its part of that that intrigues me most after all.” Downing the remainder of her glass she pushes it to the edge and leans forward, chin in her hands. Lilac eyes flitted over the girls exposed visage with pleasant surprise. “I suppose you must be hiding under that hood to evade all the longing looks then huh, you cute thang you.” Such lovely hair, and freckles were always a plus, hmmm, perhaps she is single too? She is hiding something so who knows. Nothing Rose couldnt handle, and Lilly could hold her own too. A chuckle escaped her lips at her own joke as she st back and adjusted her hair a little.

“So, whats your name then? I mean i gave you mine its only fair hmm?” The slur may have been a bit much in that one, but hopefully it would have the desired effect. her tongue flicked lazily over the black lipstick that covered her lips, giving them a nice shine for the the smirk that followed as she thought over how to handle things tonight.

She chuckles, looking at them with those lively, brown eyes of hers, mischief hidden just below the surface. “Well if you say so. I never saw it myself personally.” The red-lipped smile widens as she leaves it there, taking a sip of her drink. She didn’t want to divulge too much of her past and connections to the older Megido. Lilly/Rose didn’t need to know that. At least not now. “Oh of course, I’m just too cute for the general public. On similar lines, I’m surprised you don’t have to do the same. Must be beating them off with a stick.” 

She doesn’t answer at first, instead just leaning her cheek against her hand. They’re slurring so they must have had a fair amount to drink already this evening. “Fair but dull. You certainly seem clever so I’ll give you a riddle instead. I’ll make it easier since you appear to have had a strong drink as it is.” She hums and taps her freckled cheek, looking pensive and thoughtful. “The old fear them, the young know not of them. A sweeping crescent of silver and a patience that lasts for a millenia. It is as inescapable as times steady march. Who am I? And who are they?” She watches them avidly, sparks in her chocolate brown eyes.

Rose’s eyes drift slowly up from her drink as someone slid into the booth across from her. One hand graciously scooped up her glass to swirl it once more as she leaned with her elbow on the table. “I suppose lonely is one way to describe me. And interested seems like the proper way to describe you. Do you know miss Megido yourself? I don’t have any real ‘business’ with her if you mean her usual jobs, but she is of interest. So I thought Id pester her.” Her tone was nonchalant, a light slur between her words making her sound like she had much more than she had. It was a fun way to get to know people. They were loser when they thought she was inebriated, and a dropped guard meant juicer secrets.

The blondes eyes scanned her visitor up and down from her cute gaped grin to her hood. “Odd to see someone come into the bar with a hood… Hiding something are we missy?” A lot of people were hiding things here and most of the time it was surprising everyone didn’t have a hood up, though most secrets were far deeper and the surface was not where her interest lay. “Oh but how rooood of me. Im Lilly, Lilly Everdale.” No need to give away her real name for prying ears.

“I know her better than you’d expect from someone like myself. Cute, charming. Completely unlike the old witch.” She laughs and grins crookedly, picking up her own drink to take out one of the ice cubes, biting it without a trace of a flinch at the cold nor the sharp crunch. “So you know what line of work she’s in?” She can’t really see them from beneath her red hood but she watches how they nonchalantly swirl their drink. 

“The hood hides merely the smallest of secrets. I like its privacy over many things.” Her grin remains as she tips back the hood, locks of her curls taking their chances to escape in tendrils and ringlets. Now they can see her freckle spattered skin and brown eyes, every fibre of her being bright and animated. “Lilly Everdale; what a delightful name! Very cute. So what brings you to this rougher part of town, hm?”

Rose idly twirled her martini glass in her hand as she sat in the back corner of the Moxy bar, sipping it now and then. It was fairly quiet but that wasn’t a bad thing. She didn’t have business to attend to so coming here to people watch was always fun. Usually someone would sit down and offer her a drink, or ask her what a little girl like her was doing there. Her appearance was a double edged sword as she would have much preferred they all got her free drinks. It was no matter though, free was free and others were interesting. Explaining she was of legal age and all. Honestly her drink wasn’t even that strong.

Looking up at the light above her table she sat forward and stood up a bit to tap it, making it rock back and forth gently as she sat back down. The shadow beneath her glass shifted and she watched them, finding it calming to do so. Perhaps she was an odd sight to any who may pass but it was no matter.

The cherry hooded girl sat at the bar with her drink, skimming through her phone. It had very few numbers nowadays. After all, everyone thought she was dead after the explosion and her phone had been obliterated at the same time. She didn’t have any friends to put back into her contacts. She finishes deleting her emails and assorted information and snaps it shut again, the sudden bright flash of a light catching her eye. She twists round to look, seeing the girl from the other day watching the glass in front of them, the hanging lamp above the booth rocking back and forth. 

They’re somewhat curious as an entity, Aradia recognising them from the other day when they’d been chatting to her mother at the bar. Few people dared to speak to them, especially in such a fearless manner. She slips from the stool and walks over, drink in hand to slide into their booth opposite with a bright, gap-toothed grin. “Hello! I thought you seemed lonely so I decided to join you. Plus I saw you speaking with Megido the other day at the bar. Did you have business with her?” She gestures gaily towards the aforementioned bar with a sweeping hand, her freckles noticeable even under the darkness of her hood.

“That is a broad area, they are probably fast on their feet if they are covering that much of an area and have yet to be caught.” Jane tapped her fingers over her lips, thinking it over. “I don’t know if they would sell to the same place, it would make it too easy to track the items stolen unless they had a deal with the clerk.” It could take some coaxing to figure out who they were selling to if it was mostly one person. She moved her glasses to get a better look up close at the picture and squinted. “The hair colors not entirely common, that should narrow it down even if the picture is blurred.” She took a mental notes as they started along. “We can probably start in the 12th district, I don’t think they would sell in the 16th quiet yet with the robbery still fresh.” Though they could be doing the opposite, with such a wide area she figured it’d be harder to nail them down. “Not often anymore sadly, I spend most of my time dolling these things out to others or just hearing how its going. It’s nice to get to stretch my legs again really, thank you for inviting me along.” She smiled, following close as they started along.

“There’s a reason my employer gave me the job: law enforcements are so busy making sure the entire city doesn’t get metaphorically nuked in the amount of crime going on, they’ve pretty much given up! They’re fast, they’re clever and they have to have an in.” She digs a hand into her pocket as they walk, pulling out a hair tie. It’s a long process to do these things so she wants to start early. “If they do have a deal with the clerk, you can leave that to me.”

Aradia grins at them, missing teeth so very noticeable even in the late afternoon light. “Yeah, we’ll start at 12 and go up! If we can pin a couple perps we can give ‘em the ol’ shakedown and get some info too!” Her eyes narrow as she spots a group approaching and she pulls Jane into the alley to their right, standing against the wall as they pass by. Nighttime isn’t safe for anyone. Particularly not for those in suits with concealed weaponry. “Damn there’s a lot about tonight. I don’t think the jewellery store is that far from here, you got a face cover?” She asks as she pulls up her pointed hood, fishing in her pocket for a hankerchief which she ties over the lower half of her face, the black silk embossed with the jaw of a skull which sits over hers. “We’ll find out what we can and move on. How’re your interrogative skills?”

Jane looked up to see Aradia hanging from the windowsill, and normally she would have been concerned to see her drop from it with nothing but a whip but she’d looked up the reaper the night before and refreshed herself on the girls talents. Of which she had many. The whip being one of them. 

The kisses made her cheeks flush and Jane rubbed a gloved hand against them to ward away the color. “An interesting job, hmm?” A wide smile spread over her lips at the thought, and her brain tumbled around the name Little Jewel. “Yes they have been skulking around the Borough for awhile snatching things up.”  She smiled, adjusting her bowtie and nodding. “Count me in my dear, tell me what you know and ill share what I know, im sure we can catch them in no time.” This would make her week honestly, it’d been far too long.

“From what I’ve heard they’ve been skulking between 12th and 16th in the Veilchen District so it’s quite a broad area. Presumably there’s a pawn shop or jewellry store where they’re selling their ill gotten gains.” She tells them, pulling her phone of her tailcoat pocket, skimming it for information and turning it, a photo on the screen. “That’s the best image for us to work on.” On the screen is a blurred action image of someone running away, the only mostly visible clue being their ginger-blonde hair.

“Whoever took it was not a gifted photographer as you can see! But we have information to work with for now. We should start with shaking down any jewellery store clerks to see if someone’s been selling direct.” She gestures in the direction they need to go in, the sun setting in the far distance. “Do you get to do these things often anymore?”

Jane had been in her office when she’d gotten the call patched through, expecting to hear from Aradia but not quite in such a fashion. She blinked, looking at the phone as it was hung up almost as soon as it was patched in. Setting it down Jane stood from her chair, humming as she packed up her things and grabbed anything she thought she’d need. “Seb my dear, can you tell any calls I get that im at a meeting? All notes put in my desk drawer please.” Her secretary nodded, wishing her a safe trip as Jane closed her office door behind her and locked it. 

It wasn’t entirely often she got out in the field unless she was doing investigation work, so it made her a little giddy. Humming along she followed the instructions she was given, moving herself east of the bar and sitting herself in a corner where she could see all directions to wait. It was better to see any angle just in case. It didn’t bother her to wait, but she had a feeling it wouldn’t take long in the first place, really the reaper was waiting on her. She did hope she hadn’t taken too long to arrive for the girl she wanted to be as helpful as possible.

“Jane! Up here!” The call comes from above, Aradia somehow holding onto the windowsill of a 3rd floor apartment above Jane as she waves to them, face flipping into an expression of determination as she flicks out with her bullwhip and simply lets go of the building. She comes swinging down at speed, her wild hair freed and thrown back by the wind, her boots tapping as she touches down with an excited beam on her face. She flicks the whip again and it unravels from the fire escape she’d swung from, the Reaper winding it back up and tucking it into her belt.

Aradia leans forward to kiss them on both cheeks, her excitement clear. “Good timing! And boy do I have an interesting job for you!” She glances round to check for the coast to be clear, lowering her voice. “I’m searching for a particular someone, goes by the street name of Little Jewel. Reknowned thief of the Golden Borough. And I figured you wouldn’t mind getting out of the undoubtedly stuffy office of yours once in a while! What do you say?”

Aradia sat atop the railings of one of the taller buildings, leaning back against the weather pocked brick as she looked at the business card between her fingers. Jane Crocker had given this to her last night at the bar, telling her to call if she needed information. And now she did need such, one of her hits being so conniving and slipping between her fingers like oil every time she got close.

She needed a gumshoes help.

She shifts a little on the narrow metal so she can extract her phone, flipping the lid up as the little sheep charms bell jingles softly. It’s a precarious position she’s in right now, maybe about 8 stories high off the street on a balcony railing but she was never scared of heights. She dials the number, speaking immediately as soon as it’s put through to Jane. “Jane! I have a job for you meet me 2 blocks east of The Moxy Roxy!” And then she’s gone again, the phone snapped shut. Time to wait.
