Sunday Spotlight: Mic Galper 

After being put on to the Watchu Want video by my dude Soham (hip-hop junkie/Wake Forest fratstar), I've been searching the web like an addict to find more material from Mic Galper.

Truth is, this guy has a MEAN flow. Kiev city born and Brooklyn raised, Mic Galper is a 19 year old artist you better have your eyes on. He used to have beef with this dude named Chris Webby (heard of him? I have, but I could give two shits about that guy). That trouble is now in the past, but this track is a homage to Webby's beer-pong raps.

Tone V - What Are You Reallly Talking About ft. Mic Galper

With an Eastern European background, Galper can drop lines of Russian with no hesitation. His fluent lyricism is enhanced on this track by a sudden change up to a language that you may not understand but will nod your head to anyway. Oh, there's also a third switch up to a new beat - it's English tho, no worries.

Any of you familiar with French Montana and Curren$y will remember this dope beat. Doing justice to such a mellow track, Mic Galper rhymes for about three minutes before turning off the beat. He then proceeds to let you know that he isn't in this for the mulah or the females. His realness is self-evident. Have a listen.

I saved the hardest hitting song for last. Over a Johnny Juliano production (straight fire), Mic Galper goes straight in. This is verbal assault over bass-related homicide. If you've got subwoofers, prepare to see your trunk dance. "I've been more than patient missing paper from this whole equation." Make sure you support Mic Galper by liking his page on facebook, and if he (let's hope) drops an album soon, cop that like you would pokemon cards in the first grade.

So to appease my good friend Adam Stark (fanatic house music enthusiast and trained paratrooper), I've decided to unleash some melodic progressive/deep house music for all of you house lovers out there!

This steam roller of a progressive track has a delicious build-up and ultimately drops into a room filling anthem that you could dance for hours to (seriously, I've had this on repeat for quite a while). Make sure to support Dis Play!

Picture yourself in Ibiza and deadmau5 is playing the most fantastic set you've ever heard. Suddenly he drops an aural bomb that you just can't name. It's got some of his signature sounds, and it's pure delight to your ears - this is that track. Ensure Youandewan can continue to make music!

It's 4am. You're past drunk. The smokers are out in force. It's that time of night for the proper grooves and the deeper rhythms. Club goers in Boston will have no idea what I'm talking about (unless they are international students and know a proper scene back home). After witnessing my gunners dash out Manchester City's hopes of winning a premier league title his morning, I am in a terrific mood. Let me pass on my delight to you - in the form of some audio dope.

2011 saw SBTRKT claim the hearts of many fans (including mine) and attain international praise from Sydney to New York. After releasing his eponymous album, SBTRKT has been travelling the world, performing show after show. Early in 2012, he released this little gem, featuring remix work from Lil Silva.

A classic tune is given new life (and plenty of dancefloor vigor) by the French madman Louie Fresco. Beatport has taken the liking to calling this track nu disco/indie dance. Decide for yourselves, but don't resist the urge to bust some moves to these enchating rhythms.

Saturday Sickness Vol. 1

This, my friends, is the first installment of Debonair Vibe's Saturday Sickness featuring earthquake inducing, bass-intensive party tracks. Today I'm gonna drop 3 drumstep bombs for all you bassheads.

Debonair Vibe's Saturday Smoke Sessions Vol. 1

Time to unwind. Today's theme is hip-hop you can chill to.

I've got some soccer to play, but for now, I'm here to provide you some assistance in enhancing your very own Saturday smoke session. Here are three tracks for you to glide with.

Fresh off his new Good Sense mixtape (go cop it if you respect the JET Life crew), Young Roddy teams up with Trademark for some lyrical acrobatics over a classic tune that AZ used to rhyme over. Both Roddy & Trademark have featured on several tracks with Curren$y. If you haven't scoped out Nothin Less, go listen to that now.

Flowing over an otherworldly beat from his new mixtape, Smoke DZA lets you know he grinds for his gains. My favorite line has DZA exclaiming, "Kush god, give a brief sermon. Three kings in the cones, nigga keep burnin." Jae Millz, straight outta Harlem with a cold delivery, joins DZA with the last verse on this very mellow track.

I've been bumpin' Chip since he dropped The Cleveland Show back in '09. Now that he's dropped several new tapes including his most recent, Chip Tha Ripper is definitely gaining some national attention. This cut is from GLC's  Fellowship of the Ism, and has Chip flowing over a vibed out track co-produced by Blended Babies. Just so you know, Chip likes his blunts like his women - 2 going at once.

Sir Michael Rocks, hands down, is my favorite rapper rite now. His style is unreal, his flow is smooth and precise, and his beat selection is too cold. He might not be working with Chuck Inglish too much on the Cool Kids tip these days, but that doesn't mean he isn't putting out audio dope by the mixtape.

Premier Politics came out last year, and I still remember refreshing twitter every 10 seconds or so until Banco Populair dropped the link. I had my supplies ready, took flight, sat back with my Audio-Technica ATH-M50s (you should really get a pair, especially if you rock Beats by Dre), and kept Premier Politics on repeat for hours.

If you've been following the fly society hip-hop newsvine, you would have heard that Mikey has signed with Curren$y and the JETS. Now, this just adds luster to a rapper who is simply shining. If you're a fan of Mac Miller, you might recognize Sir Michael from his features on Pranks 4 Players & Aliens Fighting Robots. Mikey has also featured on tracks with Tennile, Casey Veggies, and Boldy James.

With Premier Politics 1.5 sounding better than the original mixtape, I can only see HUGE things for Sir Michael in 2012. As leader of the ToothPickClique, Sir Michael really is skinny nigga of the year. Below are my favorite tracks from Mr. Marriani to the ankles.

If you regard Wiz Khalifa as the Prince of Pittsburgh, you should know that the rapper formed Heavy Hustle & Taylor Gang with fellow friends and entertainers when he was still reaching for fame. Now that he's an engaged, bing-sponsored multimillionaire, expect to see a steady stream of youngsters coming up from Taylor Gang and Heavy Hustle.

One of these younguns is KH. (His twitter background is NSFW, but that is one hell of a woman) On a side note, Sledgren has been a long term producer for Taylor Gang, and his production here is on point.

As a drum & bass fanatic, my jaw hit the floor when I saw the tracklisting:

Fred V & Grafix are relatively new on the DnB scene compared to Camo & Krooked, but their talent is not to be understated. Their remix of All Fall Down pulsates with tremendous energy! (I am not liable for any damages caused by innocent dancers who suddenly feel the urge to gyrate once this track begins)

FuntCase is a heavy hitting, dubstep maniac. Only those who are facebook friends with the masked man know if he really has a cunt face (not true). Regardless, his remix of Hot Pursuit will bang through speakers with a deranged amount of bass; this is easily the meatiest song in the album.

Ab-Soul & Schoolboy Q Invade Boston

From the West Coast to the Middle East (the nightclub that is), Ab-Soul and Schoolboy Q have been travelling across America on the Groovy Tour, enchanting fans with their Black Hippy magic. They make their way over to Boston/Cambridge on the 25th of April. Tickets are still only $15

Schoolboy Q was constantly in my summer playlists with tracks like iBetiGotSumWeed from his mixtape, Setbacks. Although the tape didn't showcase all of his lyrical talent, Setbacks proved Q could handle himself on laid back beats.

With the release of Habits & Contradictions in 2012, Schoolboy Q's flow continued to mature over bassy and atmospheric production. Unlike Ab-Soul, Schoolboy Q rounds out a more serious and thug like personality. On My Hatin' Joint, Q vents about the confusion of love triangles. Production heat is provided by Mike WiLL.

With Drift Away, Ab-Soul immediately caught my attention. His lyrical wordplay, hilarious antics, and easy-going persona separate himself from the rougher characters in TDE like Jay Rock. Although he likes to be known as the Black Lip Bastard, Soul calls himself Jimmy Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, and even John Lennon on Gone Insane. Easily my favorite line, Soul shouts out, "Skywalker in the blunt, Darth Vader in the cup, you don't get lifted with us, your elevator's stuck!"

Back to the rather massive matter at hand.

Here is a track for the deep dubstep heads. We (yes, I am among you) embrace ear melting sub bass and enjoy sensing subtle uses of space between notes.

Rowl & Versa have lurked long enough in the the dark dungeons of dubstep (somewhere in the UK I've been told) to refine their talent - sinister talent at that.

It's been a while since I could supply a steady flow of audio dope to the discerning listener. After working for CNN in New Delhi, I've been in Boston getting my academics right.

But now, (big news people)  I'm gonna be maxin out in Seattle from June til December working for the Mayor's Office of Film & Music... As a result, this blog has been reborn!
