"Right on the spot? Hmmmmm… Ibuki thought of a celebratory song for your return! But have you got anything else in mind?"
"Maybe a song about our friendship. I think that's something you'd open with on an album."

"It shall be done ASSSSAP!!!!!" No time to waste. Gonna go on a fast trip to her house to pick her raddest guitar. Despair Angel Thesis is back, tell a friend.
"Right, right. So we'll have to compose a few songs now. I think we began one. Beyond that... any inspiration?"
"You mean the Despair Angel Thesis business is openin’ once again~?"
"Of course! We haven't even debuted yet. We've a lot of ground to cover. So let's hop to it. Bring out your guitar while I track down a piano."

"Grumpy leader? I wonder if we've met before. It wasn't Eridan-kun, was it?" Eridan, a leader. He'd be tickled pink at that thought, wouldn't he?
"Zeta, it seems. I don't really think I'll be spending much time there. It seems safer to sleep in the park."
"Nah it wasn’t too much money, Ibuki’s got enough funds to give herself more than one gee-tah by now!" Ah… pause. She brings a finger to her chin. “Nope, nothing about the band yet. It all just stood still when you left…”
"I'm sorry you had to wait. If you're still interested, we can practice and perform for others. I think the people here could do with some good music."

"Hello to you, too. Should I greet you that way from now on?"
"Noooo— Ibuki got himself some digusting zombie blood on her, but other than that she wasn’t bitten or anything! She can defend herself well! Got one of ‘em with their head smashed thanks to her guitar!" Flexes her arm proudly, but lowers it soon after. “… It broke, though. Rest in Pizzas, guitar…”
"Heh. Did you already replace your old one? I hope it wasn't too expensive. Speaking of which... Have you found people for your band?" It seemed presumptuous to still call it 'our band'.
"Right," she says with a shrug. It’s not that she wasn’t used to it, but even she can get tired of people babbling the same things over and over. “They made it sound like it was an accident… but coming from them, it’s hard to believe. Zombie games looked so much cheaper compared to the real horror, lemme tell ya!”
"I can only imagine. They're like warlocks. What they do is nothing less than magic. You didn't get hurt, did you? I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you."
"It hardly changes at all. People still talk about things and complain about people talking about things. The danger levels are still the same, too. You missed quite the chaos last month! What you’d call a zombie apocalypse except people kept calling them Pariah instead of zombies."
"I guess we just have to get used to it." He bit back a laugh even though he smiled, taking in her words with nuanced interest. "Zombies, huh? That sounds like something straight out of a video game. Only it was 'real', right? These scientists are fearsome people."
"That’s too bad…" Her smile dims a lot when she hears it. “He might return someday, though! Until then, you’ve got Ibuki! And Terezi is still here!”
"Terezi-san, too? It's like this place hasn't changed all that much." Aside from Shinji's absence at any rate. They must have just missed each other. Or at least, that was what Kaworu would tell himself. "I'm guessing it's still pretty dangerous, though."
"Shinji-chan?" Luckily, that makes her loosen her grip on him. “Uh… Ibuki hasn’t seen him around lately. You still got your cellphone, right? See if he’s still in your contacts!”
A fine plan if he ever heard one. Kaworu reached for his cellphone and flipped through the list of pre-programmed contacts-- his heart sank.
"I see. So he's not here. Maybe that's for the best." Either way, he could wait for the other boy like time and time again.
HUG-SQUEEZES THE LIFE OUT OF HIM. Whether he’s shorter or not, she’s too happy about his return that nothing else matters.
"Ibuki would never forget your face! Ibuki is doing fine! You topped her day just now with your presence~! You better not disappear again!"
Kaworu might suffocate at this rate. He won't even say anything about it.
"Yeah, well... I'll try not to. People like you make it worth staying. Speaking of which, would you happen to know if Shinji-kun is around?"
"… KAWORU-CHAN?! KAWORU-CHAAAAAAN!!!"
Tackle hug from Hell. Ye, she missed you a lot.
His ears start to ring. Even so, he cracks a smile and returns the embrace, swinging around to keep them both from falling over. Ibuki, you know he's shorter than you.
"Oh, what a relief. You can never tell whose memories are or aren't intact. How have you been?"
"Ibuki-san, do you remember me?"
The Road of Trials [INTRO/OPEN]
It was… strange. Hope felt as if he was being analyzed by the other teen from head to toe, inside and out… And it made the silver haired male squirm in his skin slightly. Why did he have to act so strange anyhow? Why couldn’t anything just be… normal?
The teen looked over just as the stranger averted his gaze, naturally, and so sea foam colored eyes remained trailed upon the other as he seemed to search for the correct words… Before finally introducing himself. It was almost as if social interactions were forced and times like some kind of experiment rather than just naturally awkward. Furrowing his brows, Hope tilted his head slightly in confusion, Kaworu’s speech pattern throwing him off slightly, though as time passed it became more… natural.
Perhaps it was just him then.
"I-I’m Hope—,"
You could say that I’ve lived here before. That’s how I know how to get around. Want me to teach you?”
Goodness, well if anything he was quite forward. The teen shrugged slightly, looking down and away immediately once Kaworu tried to make eye contact one more. Gloved hands laced behind his back as the teen tried to think of some response to the others forward actions, clearly uncomfortable, but he knew that Kaworu was only trying to help… So he supposed he needed it more than anything, and replied with a small nod, hair bouncing slightly and getting in his eyes before he moved his bangs out of the way.
"Yes— um, thank you. I would appreciate that…"
To be fair, Kaworu was more human than some of the worst people; he held nothing but compassion for others, and he chose not to act on contempt, if ever he felt it. All of his oddities were just a side effect of the learning curve. Sooner or later, he would adapt. He hadn't been given much of a chance to understand people before. Something always happened.
Hope. His eyes twinkled at that. A smile at the name. He liked it.
A bashful giggle followed suit. "Sorry, I didn't mean to cut you off like that." He should have waited a moment longer before speaking up. Whatever Hope meant to say was now lost to him.
But so long as the young boy was receptive, there was still work to be done. Kaworu nodded and gestured down the road, intending to lead them back onto the main street. "Sector Three is a bit more dangerous than the others. I think we should take the train elsewhere. Unless... Do you live in this part of the city?" He had to know: Did Hope know how to get back to his apartment? Did the boy even have an apartment?
It hadn't been an issue before, or even something that crossed his mind. Now that he was expected to live underground himself, however, Kaworu realized that others might have shared his fate.
The Road of Trials [INTRO/OPEN]
Hope squeezes his eyes shut in fear, heart racing along with his mind in the exact fashion that Light warned him of time and time again. The silver haired teen took in a deep breath, calling upon a magic within before suddenly the thief was jolted away. Opening his eyes and losing his concentration, Hope looked up to see an ivory hand reaching out toward him in a helpful fashion, the face behind it looking kind.
“I think we should run. Don’t you?”
The voice came smoothly, clear and light as if he had not a care in the world that a potentially dangerous man was currently grunting and standing up from the fall behind them… And there was something about that that had drawn Hope in, trusting the other and taking his hand. Before Hope could utter a single word he was pulled up to stand, and the two of them bolted away from the thug.
Sure, Hope had run great distances across crystallized lakes and great expanses of fields and cliffs, yet it seemed that provided him with no advantaged as he was still pulled along by the stranger attempting to help him flee from the shouting man. Their shoes pounded against the pavement almost painfully, Hope’s lungs starting to burn and his arm aching as the stranger pulled him through thew maze of buildings— left and right, a sharp tug with each change in direction.
Finally they had stopped, and parting their hands Hope bend over and panted, hands upon his knees as his head bowed. So was he safe? Did Hope just let another lead him into a more dangerous situation…? No… even he seemed out of breath, but just slightly, obviously more fit than the teen.
"Are you okay?"
Y-yeah…” He sighed, finally straightening and looking at the other with a confused expression upon his features. “But, um, thank you for helping me…”
He watched with curiosity as the boy bent over, respiring heavily as he did so. In and out, in and out, the heave of the boy's chest seized his attention like a car crash in the sense that he had no reason to stare and he should have been watching the roads, but stare at the panting youth he did. Kaworu lifted a hand to rest over his own chest and he felt the thundering patter of his heart. That drumming sensation, that was his blood flowing through his veins, wasn't it? He marveled at the purpose of the human heart and almost went off on an inner tangent when the boy spoke. He smiled at that.
But then again, he smiled at most everything humans had to say. "You're welcome." That was what he was supposed to say, and say it he would. He liked being polite to people. They acted so flustered over it if not thankful. Kaworu wondered, then, if this young man was the quick to fluster type. A look at Hope's face said as much.
Out of more practiced politeness, Kaworu averted his gaze - you should only make about 70% eye contact, he read once - and cleared his throat. "My name's Kaworu. Kaworu Nagisa. You could say that I've lived here before. That's how I know how to get around. Want me to teach you?" It never hurt to be prepared, nor to offer a helping hand in preparing others. It'd be the right thing to do.
And that was all Kaworu could bring himself to do until he figured out the difference between what he was supposed to do and what he wanted to do.
