Animals weren't a normal sight in his world. With the war going on, anthing other than crows, vultures and other scavengers weren't an easy sight, and Kagura found himself amazed whenever he saw an animal wandering around - which is why Kagura ended up running after what looked like a fox. Instead, in his distraction, he ended up tripping and falling.

That was less than a dignified thing, and as he pushed himself up, Kagura couldn't help his embarrassment, looking around nervously to make sure that there's no one around - but he's not that lucky. There's someone in there, and despite Kagrua's embarrassment, his ankle hurts. Just great...

"Hm... I-I'm sorry, but... could you help me...?" Embarrassed ro not, he does need some help standing up right now, so hopefully the person didn't see his graceless fall.

It's not that Academia Mare doesn't have much to do. There's a big area to explore, and there are actually some assignments that he should be doing, but walking around on his own just ends up being so... boring. Kagura's an active person, and he likes talking to people a lot, so being on his own tends to be really tiring.

So, it only seems obvious that if he noticed someone he can talk to, then he should make the most of the situation. The boy seems to be younger than him, and there's something undeniably familiar about him, but Kagura doesn't pay it much attention, grabbing his arm and giving him a bright smile.

"Hi, there!" Kagura greets the boy brightly, giving him a small tug as he starts to guide him through the campus. "I'm Kagura, and who are you, cutie?"

The second island had been making him curious ever since he realized that they could access it, now - it makes him curious that he hadn't noticed it before, but what matters is that now there's more space for him to explore in this school, and right now, he has the free time to do this. So, taking the monorail, Kagura tries to figure out just what was available in the island for him to explore.

Shops, restaurants, a place to ride horses... Kagura can't help his excitement - there are so many things for him to do there, and he can't wait to get started. As soon as the monorail stops, Kagura wanders out, looking around.

For starters, there's a place called Sand Dollars - apparently, there's plenty of nice coffees in there, and since Kagura enjoys it, then he might as well make a stop there and see if there's something he might enjoy. Stepping into the café, Kagura looks around, blinking - and smiles when he recognizes a familiar head of blond hair walking around the place.

"E-ki-san?" He smiles to the boy, making his way to him and swaying in place while grasping his hand.. "I didn't know you came here! It's really nice to see you!"

It isn’t silly so much as it is relatively new for Saitou. But he doesn’t mention it, preferring to let Kagura think what he wants. He’s never been very open about his own thoughts. It’s easier to let others assume things for themselves. Especially over little things like this.

"Don’t mention it," he answers. It’s faint, but a ghost of a smile appears upon his lips. This time, when he sets his hand upon Kagura’s head, he ruffles the other boy’s hair gently. It’s as close to a gesture of affection as anyone is going to get. "Dry your tears. You don’t have to be alone anymore."

It's embarrassing to have cried like that, even if for a short time, so Kagura quickly tries to compose himself, laughing a little as Saitou ruffles his hair and rubbing his cheeks again at his comment. He's Kagura, from Dominant - he needs to at least be able to stop himself from crying out of nowhere in a hallway.

"... Thank you, Saitou-san." Kagura murmurs, bowing to the other briefly before giving him a smile. Does he really believe that he's not alone anymore? It's hard to tell. Kagura himself isn't sure what to think of, but at least, it's nice to hear it.

The sudden push is unexpected but not unwelcome. Saitou twists just enough to see Kagura clinging to him and sighs. He places an awkward hand upon Kagura’s head and pats - like an older brother trying to cheer up his sibling without making things too mushy. “You’re welcome.”

Holding on to Saitou tightly, Kagura can feel him patting his head almost awkwardly, the sensation almost making him laugh a little - Saitou seems so awkward... it's endearing. Still, he keeps holding on to him for a few more moments before pulling a way, raising his sleeves to wipe his cheeks with the excuse of pushing his hair off his face.

"Aah-... s-sorry, I guess this is silly-!" He sniffles lightly, shaking his head. "Hm... thank you, Saitou-san... I guess I needed that...!" He needs to gather himself, compose himself as well as he can. It's strange enough to say he needs support. It's even worse to do so while it looks like he was crying.

He heaves a heavy sigh. There’s no need to be so difficult. Not when Saitou is going out of his way to make sure everything is okay.

"Oi. It’s not like I have anyone to rely on here either. You and I, we’re the same." Guarded. Defensive. Looking to belong somewhere, but always happening upon all the wrong places. His lips pinch together and he averts his gaze. He’s said enough. If Kagura doesn’t open up at that, there’s no sense in prying any further. "There’s no war to fight here aside from the one with yourself." After those words are thrown into the air, Saitou begins to walk away.

Kagura lowers his head slightly as Saitou speaks, chewing on his bottom lip thoughtfully. We're the same? How much has Saitou managed to deduce about him, already? His head cocking to the side, he keeps his gaze in the other's face, his expression more serious - but then, Saitou starts to walk away, and Kagura's left behind, staring at his back as he tries to figure out what to do.

It's true that there's no war in this apparent peaceful place, but it doesn't make trusting someone any easier. Sooner or later, he'll go back home, after all, and he can't afford to have mellowed out, right? But it's not easy to be alone in this place, away from everything he knows as familiar--

"Saitou-san..." He hesitates before rushing after Saitou, wrapping his arms around the taller man and leaning against him. Probably not his best choice, but Kagura has always been somewhat impulsive, either way. He can always change his mind later. The problem is that, for once, Kagura doesn't actually know what to say, so he just holds on to Saitou, closing his eyes. "... Thank you."

"You’re deflecting. So you are lonely." Depending on Kagura’s next response, he may let the subject drop. Otherwise, Saitou continues to prod. Not out of malice, of course, but because bottling it all up inside is far worse than letting it out. Never mind how much he himself exercises ‘self restraint’, the samurai knows; everyone cracks at some point.

It feels like he's been caught red handed, here, and Kagura's speechless for a few moments, his eyes widening before he quickly struggles to rcover his casual demeanour. Nope, there's absolutely nothing wrong, right? Taking a step back, he smiles up at Saitou, tilting his head to the side.

"Aah, I think that Saitou-san might be reading too much into it, I'm fine, really." Tucking his hands into his sleeves, he gives the other a small smile, swaying lightly. "It's been one month, too, so I've really gotten used to this, don't worry about it!"

A month’s time… He wonders how much regret he himself will feel once he reaches that one month mark. His annoyance with Kagura ebbs away, replaced with something akin to empathy. And concern. The boy puts on a strong face, but he wonders if Kagura isn’t simply faking it. Is he truly happy here and able to make do with what he has?

To be frank, it’s none of his business how others conduct their affairs. He’s not here to make friends - he’s said as much time and time again - but he’s only human, and Saitou feels compassion for others, even when he has no choice but to abandon them. He lets out a sigh. Why was Kagura so difficult to read? He had been ready to write the other student off as shallow and one-dimensional but something makes Saitou hesitate.

"Are you lonely?" he asks, point blank. No use hiding it. "You’re sociable enough." But have you connected with any of your peers? Can you truly say that you belong here?

As a man who wandered alone for so long, ostracized by his own brethren, Saitou knows the feeling of solitude. It isn’t pleasant, but one learns to accept that fate, if only to survive. Shouldn’t it be safe here to put that all aside, though?

Saitou goes quiet despite Kagura's teasing, and the boy finds himself blinking up at the other in confusion, unsure if he should wait for Saitou to say something or if he should just keep talking. He's about to kep talking when Saitou speaks up again, and once more, Kagura finds himself speechless.

Lonely? The quesiton takes him by surprise - once more, Saitou shows something Kagura didn't quite expect from him, but this time it's something a lot more serious then just a little blush, right?

"Ah, Saitou-san really makes some strange questions!" Kagura laughs a little, leaning against the taller man. He can't deny that Saitou is perceptive, though - Dominant had been the first time Kagura really felt like he had a family, and being away from them wasn't being the easiest task. "Are you worried about me? That's cute!"

He'd rather not say things that he might regret later. It's easier to just go with how things are and pretend that there's nothing wrong. After all, it's been one month. There has been enough time for Kagura to lean how to deal with things in here.

It’s a difficult question to answer. He has little frame of reference and a lot to catch up on. He doesn’t even know how long classes have been in session. Without much to go off of, he can’t really say that he’s a good student. Or a bad student. There’s simply nothing on his record.

"… I think I’ll be all right." But he’s the diligent sort and smart enough to handle anything that gets thrown his way. He’s resourceful, a real trooper, and a bit of bookwork isn’t going to throw him for a loop anytime soon. Interpersonal relationships on the other hand… talk about a doozy. "Why do you keep pointing that out?"

"That's good, then!" Kagura replies lightly, smiling up at Saitou. It's funny that he's still trying to focus on the grades and he's still embarrassed. It's really amusing to see him like this. "I've been here for a month, or so? So maybe I might be able to help if you need it!"

But then again, Kagura doesn't have much of an attention span. The few things he's actually good at are either because they are things he does in his free time, or because Mikage had taught him when they were younger.

"And, I keep pointing it out because you blushing is cute! I didn't know you could blush like this, so it's really adorable to see you like this!"

Oh no.

Saitou tenses up at that. He is not blushing. He cannot be blushing. He does not blush.

There’s no denying it from him verbally, but he keeps telling himself that Kagura is merely trying to goad a reaction out of him. Better to stay calm and remain silent than to add fuel to the fire. The fire that is his face.

He changes the subject, “How are your marks?”

Despite Saitou's attempt at changing the subject, the blush is still visible and it still makes Kagura giggle lightly, holding onto the taller man and leaning against his side. Saitou is so serious that Kagura was starting to worry that he wouldn't show emotions as simple as this, so it's really nice to see that he was wrong.

"They are good, Saitou-san, what about yours!" He replies after a moment, smiling. "You're still blushing, you know that? It's really cute!"

You can't hide it from Kagura, Saitou.

Saitou doesn’t think to turn his face away; he is so unused to flustering that he doesn’t even realize that he is blushing. His eyes simply point to the ceiling that looks awfully flimsy. He wonders if someone is going to drop down from up there, sword drawn, ready to assassinate him when he least expects it. Joke’s on them, he totally expects it. He is so ready to kick some ass like the protagonist of a campy kung-fu film after a sepia-toned training montage, let’s do it—

Kagura can't help but let out a giggle into his sleeves as he catches sight of the red tinting Saitou's cheeks as the taller man turns his gaze to the ceiling, as if trying to distract himself.

Is Saitou... embarrassed?

Stepping forward, he hugs Saitou's arm, amused as he squeezes the limb lightly. "Saitou-san is so cute when he's blushing!" Kagura teases in a light tone, holding back another laughter before he tilts his head. "But, thank you so much!"
