Spending a day on Kalsoy (4K) Earlier this year I was lucky enough to run a photography workshop in The Faroe Islands, before the world got shut down by the corona-virus. On this workshop I took my client out to Kalsoy island, in the north east of the country. And we did spend a day out there. Hiking the mountains, and enjoying and photographing the views. VLOG #11 / The most important thing in Landscape Photography?

I suffer from “I need new camera equipment disease” quite badly. It causes me to forget that the (professional) gear that I already own is very capable and will do the job just as good as “that new camera, or lens” that has just come out. I keep drooling and dwelling and considering on spending (too much) money on new fancy gear... I keep on nitpicking on comparing details, unable to make any final decisions. It brings me down. 

And it makes me forget what its all about in the first place. Just being out there, and shooting! So tonight I grabbed my camera, stuck one of my old lenses on there, and just headed out. Freeing myself from my self made toxic and frustrating thoughts and “wishes” Its not about your gear, its about doing what you love, and use your tools or gear in the best way you can. 

Grow, learn new things and actually appreciating that. After all: the best camera is the one you have with you on the right moment!

Finally out photographing again — Dedication Photography

It is early 2020, and the world is on lockdown. A lot of people are affected by the covid-19 situation. This means we are all staying in, at home a lot more then we are used to. It makes sense, safety first. But this also means that I haven't been out doing any photography recently, but then today t

In this video I have tried to do something else, I have written a poem. The poem captures my feelings that I have for this place. The beautiful Faroe Islands. I have been playing around with creating my own presets for Lightroom. This preset actually comes from another preset that I recently made. Have you seen the blog post about the band shoot I had with the guys in Probation? Yes? Noticed the tones, and the look of those shots. Now take a look at these. Right! It basically is the same preset. I have only tweaked it a little bit to just fit a little bit better for landscape/outdoor shots. As I was fooling around with the preset I applied it on some older shots. These shots were taken on a dayytip to Germany back in Januari. What do you think? Do you think it works? Last week we had a public holiday, Kings-day. We celebrated the 50th birthday of our King. I had this day off just like many other Dutch people. I went and celebrated this day, you guessed it... Not in The Netherlands, haha. Instead of staying home I got into my car and drove off southbound.
