Playing with Fire
Ah yes. The deepest question in the whole universe. The balance of the world weighed on this answer, the whole world could come down if not taken with strict and serious consideration. Abel had a soft little grin appearing on his face, his eyes lighting with amusement. He hadn’t expected it but he was pleased for the moment. “A favorite dessert? I’ve never really thought of it. I suppose sweets don’t count either..pie. I’ve found an exceedingly considerate sweet mouth for pie. Caramel apple may be my favorite kind next to blueberry.” He hoped that was a sufficient answer even as he volleyed a question her way.
"What about you Miss Jane? What sport do you like?" He assumed asking for her favorite sweet would be unnecessary merely because it was clear she was a woman of more refined tastes. Or so she seemed at the moment.
Jane's face lit up at the mention of pie. She loved pie. But then again, there were not many sweets she didn't like, so it was a bit of mute point. Still she grinned at him for the excellent response.
"Oh, a good rebuttle question. I'll have to answer with football. Followed by rowing in a close second." She answered with ease and decisiveness. Jane was not a hesitating or uncertain type of person.
"Do you play any sports, Detective?"
Calling her Miss Jane was already a step in the right direction, and she looked forward to see how much more at ease she'd be able to get him by the time they reached their destination.
