And he actually sings the entire chorus perfectly, like the song was written for him.
"Yeah that's the one. It's really catchy." Dee actually prefers Beyonce, but isn't terribly picky about the music she listens to.

“Not gonna lie: Bang Bang by Jessie J and co is now my jam.”
"Didn't she sing that other really catchy song? Something about money?"
' merry christmas, dee! ‘
"Merry Christmas Anthony!! How was yours?"
Leon did respect where she was coming from and he could tell that she would be a good partner in terms of being trustworthy—and most definitely kind even. She had that kind of aura to her; a naturally inviting person and he didn’t know her back story besides what the captain had shared with him regarding work (which happened to be all good things), but he could sense nothing but good in her. It wasn’t that he wasn’t excited about having a new partner, or was putting her through the ringer, so much as he was just plain uninterested. People came, and then, they left. His last partner did at least and it wasn’t before they bruised each other up real bad, with Leon nearly breaking his jaw against the back bumper of his truck. The one before was shot to death and the very first couldn’t handle his level of “pessimism.” He wondered what her excuse would be.
When it was all said and done, he felt bad for her. It had been a long time since he had been an agreeable man. “No. I’m telling you what would work best between us,” Leon replied, his eyes traveling to the other colleagues he saw gossiping on the corner. Rewarding them with a stare that said he knew what they were up to, his turned his attention back to his new partner. “That’s very admirable. However given how long it’s taken me to reconcile my nature, I can’t figure I’d forego it on your account, Ochman. We’ll see what happens.”
Dee was so confused by everything that was happening. She could have never guessed that she would get stuck with such a sourpuss as a partner in a million years or that he would act like she was just going to quietly go along with whatever it was he thought a partnership was supposed to be. And when his gaze stared right through her, she turned around to see people she didn't know gathered around a desk who started to shuffle off towards their own respective desks when Queenan's eyes met theirs. Were they afraid of him?
She wasn't sure how people around this precinct usually acted towards him, but Dee had never met such a cliche and surely wasn't about to just follow him around like a lost puppy. She had a career to think of. And her own safety in the field. "That may be what works best for you, but that's not what works best for me, and if we expect to get any cases solved and not get fired, I think it might be in both our best interests to compromise," she said, folding her arms across her chest. "I'm not trying to be admirable, or asking you to change. I'm not sure what sort of ideas you have about me in your head, but I'm trying to make sure both our asses are covered in the streets, Queenan, and if you can't accept that, I suggest you put in for a new partner."
Leon had never been one to explain himself or his methods; he just did or said what he felt at the time. He was a simple man. There wasn’t much a person truly had to do to understand him yet many people often questioned his methods or his habits; why he constantly doodled extremely detailed sketches of the victims that had haunted him, why he never want out for late night drinks with the others yet could always be found sitting at the same bar by himself, and why he refused to talk to others without having his first cup of coffee.
He didn’t expect Dee to understand, she was new, and for that he wouldn’t fault her but, like most of his former partners, she would have to learn his ways quickly so that there would be no friction between them. It had been brought to his attention many times that plenty of people took his brutally honest, stoic behavior personally. So instead of explaining, he simply sighed. “Listen, Dee was it?” He began, coming to a halt. “We don’t need to be buddies, or know little secrets about each other, or build a close bond because we’re partners. The only thing you need to do is watch my back and I’ll watch yours. How is that for an introduction?”
Her sneakers nearly squeaked on the tile floor as she dug her heels in the ground to stop when Queenan stopped so aburptly. Her brow knit together in the middle of her forehead as he spoke, and she began to wonder if what people had told her before was true. Delilah Ochman was essentially an open book. Had always been when it came to work. And this wasn't her first rodeo--in fact she had been a detective for nearly five years now and she and her previous partner had been something of best friends to each other. They knew what move the other would make before the person knew what they would do themselves, which is what made them such a good team.
She held her hands up in confusion, shaking her head as she tried to process it all. "So what you're basically telling me is that everything I've been told up until now is wrong?" She scoffed, and pushed stray hairs out of her face that were starting to unplaster themselves from her forehead. "Forgive me if I have a hard time agreeing with you. I'm not asking you to be my best friend, have drinks with me after work, or meet my cat. I'm asking you to earn my trust so that you can earn mine and we can be real partners instead of playing pretend."
Leon had just barely managed to step out of the locker room before he heard someone call out to him. It most definitely wasn’t a voice he recognized but, as he turned to make eye contact with the stranger, he knew who she was. The Captain had informed him of her transfer and he was dreading it a bit just because he hated dealing with someone new. Naturally, he eyed her from head to toe as she introduced herself; she was attractive which meant that she probably was going to have problems with the others, looked green, and no doubt, young. Still, he wouldn’t judge her on her appearance alone. “Right.” He said, keeping his pace as she caught up to him. “You could’ve at least waited until I had a cup of coffee to make introductions.”
Dee had heard things about her new partner and she chose not to put too much stock in all the rumors because everyone deserved a good first impression. Or at least the chance to make one. And if she wasn't keeping a strong, somewhat brisk pace, Dee might have stopped in her tracks at his words. She had a good record, impeccable almost, and a certainly immaculate sparring record, and yet he chose to complain about coffee that was never any good anyways. "Uh, coffee?" She asked confused, slipping her hands through the sleeves of the jacket she was holding and zipped it up before the cool air of the office could make an effect on her body. "Sir, would it really have made a difference if you had coffee or not when introducing myself?"
Zack did nothing other than raise his eyebrows while Dee moved her limbs around in a manner that to Zack looked uncomfortable. For someone who had seemed rather interested in who his letters were from - and he couldn’t blame her, he’d be tempted to snoop through his neighbor’s mail too - she was now acting more penitent than he would have expected. Mildly concerned that she was going to hurt herself if she kept going on, he put a hand up to stop her. “No problem,” he reassured her. “Seriously. Don’t stress out about it.” She almost reminded him of Nicole, during the brief time they had lived together. Maybe it was because of the apologies, or the way she talked - he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. Either way, it wasn’t something that bothered him at all, and he smiled a little bit wider so that he wouldn’t look grumpy.
"Well, yeah, it’s important to have some stuff in paper form." That Social Security card of his was pretty damn important, and not really something he could back up on a flash drive. But he couldn’t deny the convenience of online bill pay and being able to back up all of his photos on to his computer - it made it easier to travel light. He really hadn’t even brought much with him to his new apartment. He’d taken a few of his old belongings, a few books and some CDs, but since he could access so much from his computer he didn’t really feel like he was lacking anything.
He watched with interest as Dee very clearly demonstrated the distance between their apartments. “Ah, I see,” he replied. “Quite a trek, isn’t it? That’s practically a marathon.”For a lack of anything else to do, Zack shoved his free hand into his pocket. “Yeah, sounds good,” he said in response. “You’re welcome to the same - I can’t promise we’ll have any of those things, but you can ask.” He grinned at her. “Anyway, thanks for the mail, I guess.”
Dee stood in the frame of her door after she walked across the hall to demonstrate the space between his door to hers. His sense of humor seemed like the kind of understated sarcasm that she herself could appreciate and even toss back and forth, so at least she knew she could get along with her neighbor. Her face relaxed into a pleasant smile and she shrugged when he brushed off her curiosity easily. "Well, either way, maybe the mailman will get this sorted soon. I'd hate for you to miss something important."
She chewed on her bottom lip as the silence settled over them for a moment before she smiled and clasped her hands together to keep them from flailing wildly again. "Yeah! Of course, it's not a problem. I guess, well I guess I'll see you around, neighbor!" She said with a wide smile, turning and reaching for her doorknob.

Dee laid eyes on who she assumed to her superior officer as he swept past her as she was leaving the gym without even a second glance. "Hey! You're Officer Queenan, right?" She asked, catching up with him in the hallway. "I'm Dee. Dee Ochman. I'm supposed to be your new partner."
The remark was swallowed. Better it was, to keep his word to the captain, not being so harsh with her — even with the attitude she’d been showing ever since they entered this scene. Her first case. He could remember his all too well.
”Good job.”
A sigh, before he heard another cop’s voice, informing him, that they now could observe the room the body was found in. A glance over at her brows hoisting in the slightest.
”Come on.”
Delilah Ochman was a lot of things. She didn't consider that having a weak stomach was one of them. In fact, she always thought she had built up a rather strong tolerance to gore and things, especially after she broke her shin in grade school. But it took every ounce of self control she had not to barf all over the crime scene then. The stench of death was foul and all encompassing and Dee had never experienced anything like that in her life. " He's definitely dead. "
’ All sort of books, really. Though — I do have a soft spot for the classics. ‘
Hugo, Wilde, Austen. Antony happily read their stories over and over again.
The young man shrugged at her offer. He was not picky when it came to drinks. He was used to not having much around, both food and drinks, and was so happy to have anything.
’ Doesn’t matter. ‘
" They are classics for a reason, after all. I think my favorite book is this one called Angel Time. Pretty recent, but such a good read. " Dee hovered around the entrance to her kitchen, unsure of what he even wanted drink or food wise. She didn't really know Anthony that well so she couldn't really throw his "favorite" of whatever out--she didn't know what it was. " Um, well. I have water, juice, maybe a can of soda? And popcorn, chips, crackers? It's up to you, really. "
”Yes, I did.”
Arms folded over his chest, eyes resting upon the small piece of modern technology, in her covered hands. Waiting patiently, until she perhaps could provide an answer.
”Alright. We should check up on that later. Did you find anything else?”
" Yeah, the lab won't have any problem with deciphering that. Probably will use Google translator. " She was new, and had been paired with Loki because he had 'experience' but Dee had been a cop for a while, working with petty crime and eventually promoted to detective. This was her first case. " Yeah, there's some tracks in the flower bed outside. Approximately men's size eight and a half. Or women's ten but that's less common than a men's eight. "
”I can see it’s a cell phone.”
He offered her the small object, brows slightly furrowed, at the message displayed.
“I meant that.”
" You asked, to be fair. " She took the phone with her glove covered fingers and glanced at the message flashing across the screen that seemed to be in a language she wasn't sure of at this time. " Latin based, for sure. But I can't tell you what language off the top of my head. "
”Well, this looks —- interesting?”
Easy to say, when you are highly uncertain of what is caught between your fingers.
”Mind telling me what’s up with it?”
" Looks like a cell phone to me, sir " She didn't like to state the obvious but this was quite obvious. " Unless you think it's something else? "

The kaiju had been coming strong for years, as they had since Dee was merely a teenager. She lived on the Atlantic coast and since the monsters seemed to only sprout up in the Pacific, her home was relatively safe. When she was only twenty she was drafted as a jaeger pilot. Not that she had anything relatively remarkable about her, but young people all over the world were being drafted and trained and tested against other people for the position beside someone in a jaeger. Which were much like a force of nature. When Dee was twenty four she started her simulations after four rigorous years of physical training and when Dee was twenty five she was put in her first jaeger with her childhood best friend who had also been recruited. However, at the age of twenty nine, her friend was killed by a faulty oxygen supply in a routine maintenance of the machine. Dee was in the drift with him when he suffocated. Now, just two weeks before her thirtieth birthday (less than six months after the death of her copilot), Dee was being forced to test compatibility for a new copilot so that they wouldn't be short a jaeger on the field, and she wasn't even sure she was finished coping yet. At 0600 hours she was in the training room at the San Francisco base, barefoot and sparring stick in hand. Her superiors were giving her the option of picking from totally new recruits or seasoned pilots like herself that had lost their copilots. No jaeger was supposed to go unmanned in this war against monsters.

Delilah Ochman. Small town girl who was in way over her head with the war. It took her father a million years to let her enlist in the first place and then another hundred to let her go at the airport when she'd been recruited for S.H.I.E.L.D. It was an exciting opportunity, that much was clear, but it didn't take much for the nerves to settle in her stomach in the first few years of being an agent. Then there had only been rumors of a war big enough to encompass the whole entire world. Now here she was almost ten years later after enlisting in the military and had an astounding level seven clearance with S.H.I.E.L.D. and was being flown on a plane of very well trained men and even another woman who had likely undergone the same scrutiny that Dee had when she first was recruited. The year was 1940 when Dee was shipped off to London first for a short layover before she finally made her way to the base in Greece, which might as well have been in the throat of all the action. Besides the water, Greece was totally surrounded by Axis Powers which were home to nothing but Hydra's operatives. Though she wasn't able to enjoy the nice Greek weather because within the week she was being shipped deep into Italy, smuggled on a boat and given minimal instructions and a small team with one objective: " Collect intel from behind enemy lines. " Simple enough, right? Dee wasn't sure yet, but she was going to do her damn best to bring back all the information she could acquire in the short amount of time she'd been given to collect it.
There were a lot of things Anthony was into. He was very into Jasper, but he did not suppose that was what Dee was aiming at. A humble shrug escaped him before he spoke again.
’ I like books and writing. ‘
" Oh? What sort of books? And do you want something to drink? " She was probably the worst hostess ever. Forgetting to get her guests drinks and forgetting to offer them something to eat.
Anthony knew little of cars, as disappointing that could be for firm believers of gender roles. He pouted, nodding at her explanation as his eyes were fixated on the miniature version of the car.
’ You like cars, then? ‘
" Yeah, I do. I'm still learning, and it's a slow process, but I'll get there. What about you? What are you into? " The love of cars was something Dee had gotten from her father, and especially after he got sick, she had always wanted to make him proud. He was the only parent she had left. And it was always something that reverberated deep within her.
