Who knew arcades could give out such cool prizes? Craig didn’t exactly frequent these types of places, but after pocketing a bit of extra cash given to him by extended relatives after a visit, he couldn’t help but come and scope the place out. And now here he was, ready to use every penny of it trying to snatch up that one and only special reward that had been displayed behind the main counter like some kind of trophy.
He’d been playing alone for the most part, slowly racking up points, but now it was starting to feel tedious. Staring at the screen of the shooter game he was stood at, the teenager wrinkled his nose before turning to glance at the person lingering nearby – most likely waiting for their own turn.
“Are you waiting to play this? We could probably get more points if we worked together.”
Surprised that she was even acknowledged to begin with, Dolphi actually ended up taking a step back when the tall boy talked to her. She wasn’t easily startled (probably) this was just... instinctive shock.
“I... yeah. It’s a two player game but I usually... usually end up playing on my own.” Most people were wary of spending time with a short person with a fin and tail who looked like they were in the wrong universe, not that she could blame them.
“I’m down... down if you are.”

The moment a compliment fell onto the seamstress’ ears, the woman tilts her head and for once, her expression blanks in pure confusion. As her hand shook a bit, her touch retracted from the smaller’s face as she crossed her arms and returned them to rest on top of her knees. Her brows press together and she expression went downward, staining a wounded look now upon her being. ‘Keep it controlled, Sophie. You know better–’’
“You’re far too kind,” Sophie finally addressed Dolphi, an artificially sweet smile on her face. Though, the woman dusted off her dress and rose slowly onto her own feet, extending the palm for the other. Yet, the denial circulating in her mind, or even pure awkwardness over a compliment, was clearly visible in her eyes.
“That’s a lovely start, Dolphi. Verbal agreements is one of the first steps to making resolutions,” affirms Miss Hatter.
Sophie’s seemingly effortless and ladylike grace quickly soothed what little-frayed nerves Dolphi was clinging to, leaving her clinging only to the handkerchief pressed between her sweaty hands.
“Ah, yes, of course...” Fukami would probably say something along the same lines, with Memoca falling in between with a ‘,fake it ‘til you make it,’ without any hesitance.
It was still easier said than done. But there was little else she could do aside from try. That and take deep breaths, the air heavy as if full of moisture as she lifted her shoulders and arms into a little stretch.
“Thank you. I’m not sure what exactly... what exactly caused that particular breakdown. You’re always... always so helpful.” Dolphi assured the older woman with a faint smile and soft eyes that crinkled at the corners with genuine cheer.

When you had everything paid for by your secret employers, life seemed to go by in a strange way. As someone who always had to be at someone else’s beck and call, the additional freedom was something not one hundred percent welcomed. Sure, Itachi still had to perform recon in secret for an organization that was in the midst of finding a new hideout, but that wasn’t enough to get him through the day to day. He still had to blend in somehow, and that meant he could let loose a bit. However, it had been far too long since that ability was given to him.
Talia seemed to bring new horizons though. A life where Itachi could feel like his old self again. It was liberating. However, that didn’t take away from the fact that he’d become stiff in his time with the Akatsuki. He seemed to be in a Limbo of sorts, unsure of how to be one or the other. The dilemma of free timed seemed to be an issue as well. That was until he thought of one potential occupation: tutor.
As someone who seemed to have master the art of schooling at a young age, Itachi found himself drawn to this line of work. It could give him a little bit of spending money, as well as get rid of the extra free time on his hands.
And today was his first day. In the library, the Uchiha awaited his first ever “student.” He was able to get a couple of extra hours on a private room, so the studying could go off without a hitch. Once he was done setting up, he waited by the door, until he finally caught sight of a quite short female.
“Dolphi-san, correct?”

Standing at a very impressive four feet and nine inches and hands laced behind her, tense with nervous anticipation and apprehensiveness (-would they think her to be stupid for needing help? Would they condemn her? All very prominent worries in her mind-), Dolphi smiled softly when acknowledged.
“Just Dolphi s’fine... um, how do you want me to call you?” She’d been given two names, ‘Itachi’ and ‘Uchiha’, although knowing what little she knew about his culture she couldn’t be certain as to which was the proper one to address him by.
“It is nice to meet you, in any case! Thank you for being willing to tutor me, as I do need the help.”

Softer than a mouse, the porpoise granted the whispers of thanks, even if muffled behind the soiled white handkerchief. Fabled as the ‘gray mouse’ to many local Yorkshire harassers and silver-spooned obsessors, she exchanged another word in a hushed tone, enstating the atmosphere of placidity for now, “I do all I can, my dear.” Through the utterances of muted compassion, Sophie remained poignant in her attention, yet her eyes wandered a bit, daring to bear some notorious Hatter stubbornness to fight someone. –Quite a deadly thing.
Alas, irises once large with sympathy and caution dilate and shrink, Sophie’s brows lower as she refocuses on Dolphi’s expression, as she averts her gaze and veils herself by the kerchief. Gripping her owns, Sophie rubs her thumb against her opposing hand’s palm and rubbed her hands together, taking in a deep breath.
“Not at all.” Almost offended by the presumption of Dolphi believing they were a nuisance to her, Sophie raises her voice, some obvious flabbergast in tone. “–Dolphi,” she reiterates, “Dolphi.” One hand hovers near the teenager’s chin and taps under gently. If Dolphi glanced upward at her, yet kept her head dipped, Sophie would’ve lifted it slightly.
“You didn’t ‘pull me away.’ I pushed myself to you. Don’t bear some unneeded guilt about this, alright?”
God, Sophie was so nice to her. Dolphi almost fell back into tears, this time brought on by genuine thankfulness, but at the last moment, she managed to take a deep breath and hold off on the second flood.
“Aha, thank you, Soh-chi.” Her tongue caught on her teeth, her jaw still trembling from emotion, and she let out a small pained noise at the now-painful bite on her tongue.
Ouch. Things were just not going her way today. She didn’t really have room to examine herself, though, because Sophie, being the great older-sister figure she was, was holding Dolphi gently.
“You’re amazing.” She breathed out, solemnly. It wasn’t hard to say, not when it was so obvious. “I’m... very grateful, and I’ll try not to hold this over myself in the future....”
