It's so funny how Hal Emmerich AKA Otacon is introduced in MGS1 as some rando that Solid Snake just happens to run into. he's just some scientist, he doesn't really know anything about what's going on. but then you play MGS3 and Peace Walker and MGSV and oh this is actually the son of Dr. Strangelove, the woman who invented artificial intelligence, and she raised him with the intention to carry on the legacy of the woman she loves, who is The Boss, one of the greatest soldiers in history, not to mention the mentor of Big Boss and the mother of Ocelot. She literally canonically sees Hal as the child of The Boss and herself. and to do this, she let herself be impregnated by Huey Emmerich, the man who would go on to build the first Metal Gear.

Retcons abound obviously but when you lay it all out like that it's so funny. He's the child of Strangelove, The Boss, AND Huey? Otacon is basically Metal Gear royalty and he doesn't even know it. and he just kinda Shows Up in MGS1. and I'm pretty sure Solid Snake never learns any of this either
