It had been over a fortnight since Nanna had last seen the Emperor, and yet he seemed to have aged a full decade. Velthomer was particularly hot this summer, but even that would not explained his overly dry face. Was he remedying the color of his face through frequent washing? But nonetheless, the Emperor left himself at the door and Nanna greeted her Uncle.  “What troubles you, Uncle?”  Chuckling, he looks away. “Nothing, my dear. Now let’s have some brunch, I’m sure you must be famished?” Despite their kinship, secrets and an unknown fear was still perched neatly in what remained of their family.
