“ it certainly does, ” wes says with a smile, leaning forward to press a soft kiss to the other’s lips. he lingers for a moment before pulling back and just looking over val’s face — he smiles at the blush on the boy’s cheeks and presses a kiss over top of it. “ i’m glad you’d take my last name — i think wesley reyes would be kind of tongue twister if you said it five times fast. ” wes jokes, but there’s more truth to his words than he lets on; val taking his last name would mean the world, especially knowing that his whole family would be santos. “ i think you do, and i also think you’ve never been a good liar. ”

he leans into the kiss,  head turning to peck his cheek in return as if it’s some kind of competition when he pulls away.  a wide smiles on his lips,  dimples showing on freckled cheeks  &  his boyfriend’s antics just have him fondly rolling his eyes.  “ i wouldn’t want you to get all tripped up trying to say your own name after all. “  val teases in return,  it’s not as if he really minded,  after everything with his parents his own last name seemed more like something just aimlessly tacked onto the end.  “  nope, i still don’t recall  &  isn’t that a good thing ? “

wes smiles at val using his last name, eyebrows raising just slightly. “ you know, it would be cute if i could call you santo too, ” wes smirks a little, hand moving from the back of the boy’s head to his cheek, gently caressing his face. “ i know your motives, baby — you just want to learn all of my weaknesses, ” wes smirks, cocking his head to the side just a little as he adds, “ although i do think you already know most of them. ” 

that catches val off guard, the slightest flush dusting his freckled cheeks. it’s not like it’s a totally foreign concept, it’s been mentioned, albeit briefly between them. still, he can’t help the quip that leaves his lips. “ mm, that would be pretty cute. val santo does have a nice ring to it, doesn’t it ? “ perhaps it’s payback or just hopefulness. “ i have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. “ he totally does.

“ you’re right — you’re kind of irresistible, reyes, ” wes smiles at the boy, his hand still running through his hair; he takes the curls in his fingers and twists them a little, then scratches his scalp, repeating the same process everytime he plays with the locks. “ why would i tell you ? i can’t give you all my secrets, then you’d have the power to make me do whatever you want — and you already have most of that power ! ”

he snorts at that in disbelief, “ i don’t believe that, santo. “  still he doesn’t put up more of a fight, fondness written all across his features as wes plays with his curls. really, he’s more than happy just to relax with him for a few moments, even if he knows reality will eventually wake them up. “ i was just waiting to bargain, baby, not trying to gain secrets. “  he reasons innocently,  a hand raised to his chest ever dramatically in mock offense.

wes mocks offense, gasping just slightly. “ val reyes, that was very rude of you — i should put you on a kiss ban for that, ” wes smirks, placing an index finger over his lips. “ it could be a challenge ! it would be cute to teach you to pay and watch you try, ” wes smiles at the boy, leaning up to prop his head up on his palm.  he leans over a little, turning his head to glance at the clock. “ i should get back to working on my site, honey … unless you’re going to convince me to do otherwise. ”

“  you wouldn’t dare ! “  he squints at him with disbelief, the slightest smile on his lips as he watches the other. weighing his options, he doesn’t really mind learning how to play. especially considering he know how much it’d mean to him. plus, he is definitely more competitive than he lets on & the prospect of beating wes at his own game, well. he can’t pass up that chance. leaning their forehead’s together for a moment, he presses a kiss to the tip of his nose with a cheeky grin.  “ mmm,  what’s it going to take to convince you ? “

“ well then what’s your definition of cool, mr. cool guy ? ” wes laughs a little, giving his boyfriend a small shove on the shoulder ( playfully, of course ). “ um, i would congratulate you ! but baby, i don’t think that would happen — i’ve been doing this for years, and i know a lot about what players are expected to do well, so ! ” wes smiles, bringing a hand up to run through val’s curly locks. it was one of his favorite things about the boy. “ it would be adorable to see you get into it, and maybe it would make you actually enjoy watching football with me. ”

“ hmm ... anything that’s not fantasy football leagues ?  “  he teases, gently knocking his shoulder back against the other’s with a soft smile. leaning into the touch, he’s more than happy to just let him play with his curls. his eyes flutter closed, long lashes brushing his freckled cheeks with a hum. one eye opens however after his boyfriend finishes, disbelief tinging his tone. “ i enjoy watching how passionate you get about it, i just don’t understand the appeal, but. “ he pauses, opening both eyes to glance at him with a quirk of his brow. “ is that a challenge ? “

wes rolls his eyes just slightly at the boy, pressing save on the page he’s been working on and shutting his laptop to set it aside, directing his full attention back to his boyfriend. “ nooo, i don’t want you to lie ! but i promise you’d find it fun, and i’m not just saying that for laughs, ” wesley smiles softly, turning over a little so he’s facing val, his arm moving to pull him closer to his chest. “ uhhhh ! not quite ? it’s more like… you’re a manager of a team, and that team is whatever you want it to be — you pick the players out of who you think will have the best season, and they can be anyone you want ! and you can gamble with it, or you could just play for fun, friendly competition. it’s really cool, baby, i promise. ”

he melts against him, scooting closer with a soft laugh. “ i think we have different definitions of cool,  but i’d try it.  once.  “  he resigns,  head tilting to look up at him a bit more.  it’s the least he could do with how often wes ends up listening to him ramble on about one thing or another.  “  what would you do if my team ended up beating yours ? out of total curiosity.  “   it’s not like he really plans to be able to,  but val has always had a competitive streak & after the basketball game,  well.  he can’t be blamed for trying.

“ baby, you know it’s just really busy for me right now, ” wesley smiles to the boy climbing into bed with him, leaning over to press a kiss to val’s forehead before turning his eyes back to laptop. of course, wes wishes he could devote his 100% attention to val —- but fantasy leagues are right at the prime right now & assuring that his site is ready to handle the traffic had been taking up a majority of the boy’s time for most of the week. “ mmm you could at least sound interested, i promise you would enjoy it, honey —- you don’t even have to be a big sports guy to get into it. ” 

                  he hums in reply to the kiss before more properly sitting up.  “  you’ve been glued to it for a week,  angel.  you’re worse than i am with hypabyssal rocks.   “   he’s teasing obviously,  if anything he finds it admirable that he’s so dedicated,  even if he doesn’t understand hardly any of it.  “ you want me to lie to you ? “ he quirks a dark brow,  brown eyes shinning with mirth.  “ what do you even do, anyways ? is this like high school gym picking who’s on your team ? “ it’s obviously he genuinely thinks that’s the extent of it, confusion etching itself on freckled features.

           “   usually i’m the one up late working.  “   he teases,  warm eyes watching the other as he crawls onto the bed,  flopping rather inelegantly onto the mattress next to wes.  “  the kids are asleep so i’m proposing a movie night,  i’ll even agree to a sports related movie if you take a break from your ... football predictions ?  fantasy ... league ?  “  he squints at the screen,  head falling to his boyfriend’s shoulder with a hum,  he’s given up trying to find out for now.   “  whatever it is.  ”
