Trailer/Poster/Site
Once again, sorry for my absence of late. Too much news to cover and not at the right time. But let's at least try.
On the 9th of May, the long-awaited trailer finally made it's debut earlier then the expected broadcast on AttackOfTheShow. Fans went crazy, duplicating the video and analysing every second like any vet would-and it did NOT disappoint. I actually still haven't gotten over how good the trailer really is. In fact it was surreal I wasn't even sure if it was a Final Destination trailer I was watching. As the Warner Bros. logo slowly faded in against a murky grey skyline (and may I say-what an awesome sight to see the WB logo on an FD trailer!) and flipped around to reveal a slightly upgraded Newline Logo, it confirmed in the first few seconds what everyone wanted. Darkness. Old school FD. And it goes on to practise that even more.

Everything is pretty much just perfect. From the chilling first lines of Tony Todd's Mr. Bludworth..."Your not supposed to be here...", to the sweeping helicopter shots gliding over Vancouver pine tree's...to the looming chords of a guitar piece overlaying upon a certain-someones body bag being wheeled out. The wide establishing shots of a funeral crowd is dripping of the originals style and tone.....and my God it works. Cinematographer Brian Pearson has done an awesome job of securing the trilogies vibe and "look", with grey/bluish colour palette complimenting the destaturated feel of the original. They've gone for the extremely wise decision to open with a tease of a death scene, rather then the typical premonition-eye pull out-freak out scene set-up, which I think clearly demonstrates how they are determined to put across the change in both narrative and ideas-a big demand from the fans. The acting in my opinion is fine, and is exactly what I thought it would be. It appears to be on par with the trilogy-but we'll see more in the next trailer (and the overall film). But more exciting then anything else...the rule have indeed changed. It's kill or be killed, according to Peter-who is a favourite of mine already. What I love about this premise is that the characters can't trust each other anymore. Everyones in it for themselves-and nobody is, as mentioned, "safe". This is a dynamic perfect for Final Destination, allowing the tension to increase through the roof with two ideal villains working along side each other (the characters choosing to take other characters out-and the omnipresent death). And talking about Miles Fisher...he's destined to be a hit with the fans. He's like a bloody super hero. From the shots of him jumping off the bridge to a hanging ledge-running as wires and lights collapse towards him...it's a determination to survive which I've never seen before in an FD movie, and re-enforces how not all protagonists are going to just sit around and wait until there time up. Kill or be killed...indeed.
That's all I have to say for now, but I will have a more forensic analysis coming soon, complete with screenshots. There's a lot more going on in that trailer then meets the eye.
Released at the same time as the official debut of the teaser trailer; is the teaser poster-which is another first for the franchise.
What is so exciting about this poster...is how simple it is. Finally, the time has come when this franchise can walk in with a simple 5 and audiences will know what it is. I've been waiting for this for a long time, and it really confirms how much more established and iconic the series has become. More so, it seems like a faint tounge in cheek mockery of TFD's poster, which carried a largely dramatic mix of a Shantal Vansantan's screaming face-with the infamous deathly skull. Instead, this poster embraces the symbolism of the skull-a gothic 5 cutting through it as though it were a synth. It's as if stating that we're starting a new-going back to the roots of the original and throwing away the mockery perspective to the franchise. Quite simply...death is back.
And conclusively this brings us to our last piece of news-that being the launch of the official website. It's just as subtle as the poster at the moment, which is expected as it's still in it's early days. At the moment we have plot outlines, cast/crew, the trailer and the two previously seen stills. Expect more as the months go on.

Well, that's it for now-but do tune in next time when I'll have a much more detailed analysis of the trailer with screenshots, also revealing a few hidden easter eggs that you may or may not have spotted. And brace yourselves-they are truly shockers!
