🌏 Some Favorite Grounding Visualizations 🌏
🌺 These are some of my favorite visualizations for settling into a calm, relaxed mood. They are adaptable for almost any kind of scenario - grounding before spellwork, divination, casting, energy work, or anything else; relaxation for falling asleep while lying in bed; relaxation/centering for beginning meditation; distraction or escapism when surrounded by everyday dullness or even chaos; or just simple enjoyment and entertainment. The recurring theme through all of these is that they are repetitive (you can keep repeating the imagery as you lapse deeper and deeper into quiet calmness) and tactile (involving visualization for physical senses, which deeply immerses you into them).
Walking - Walking forward, stepping lightly, with arms slack at your sides, fingers trailing behind you as you move forward. One step continously is placed in front of the other. Absorb the smells and sounds and other senses of the locale you visualize yourself in, such as if you are walking in the woods or along a beach, but you can truly place yourself anywhere (including fantasy settings) and even travel from one locale to the next as you move forward.
When intrusive thoughts or distractions come in, imagine them as weight dropping from your fingers, being left behind on the ground behind you. I like to imagine a bracelet I’m wearing that loses beads as I let distracting thoughts go, crashing onto the ground so heavily that they form small craters in the ground as I keep moving forward without them.
Floating or Flying - Similar to walking, except without moving one’s legs or being in contact with the ground. The rushing of wind is the tactile aspect instead (or it can be a gentle breeze - you don’t have to be flying fast). You can soar in loop-de-loops or rise up to swoop down quickly if you want some variation in your travel, or just glide peacefully over the ground and experience many of the same things you would by walking.
Discard distractive thoughts by imagining them being loosed from your body as you move forward, dissipating in the wind.
Gardening - Sit upon your knees in the soft Earth (you have no worries about staining your clothes while visualizing!), with hands and fingers working in the soil, which yeilds easily under your touch and requires no tools for manipulating. Move along rows in this manner, poking a hole in the dirt with your finger and dropping a seed inside, then covering it again and moving on to the next seed. You can envision “fantasy seeds” such as tiny sparkling crystals that you’re planting instead of normal seeds since, heck, you’re allowed to visualize anything. As you move on down the garden plot, you can imagine the seeds sprouting if you like, growing into stalks that burst into beautiful fantasy flowers, and you can spend some time contemplating the patterns of their petals and the colors that they show you (think of the flowers as mandalas).
In this visualization, distractions and unwanted thoughts show up as weeds. Dig your fingers under them, lifting them by the roots and find that they slide right out of the Earth with little resistance. Simply move on to the next seed without paying the weed any thought.
Braiding - The repetitive hand and finger motions of tying a braid is awesomely meditative. You can envision threads of any color or thickness in your hands, or even imagine that you are braiding the hair of a fantasy creature such as a fairy or mermaid or any character that you’d like to have present.
Distractions in this version are knots encountered as you braid, but a gentle pull removes them easily and there is no trace of them as you continue without sparing it a thought.
Sewing, weaving, knitting, crocheting - Similar to braiding in that you are making repeated motions with your fingers and the colors and textures of the materials you are working with are wonderfully up to your imagination. Being familiar with one of these crafts outside of visualization will make this one much easier, since you can easily summon forth the sensation of muscle memory, but even if you’ve never actually tried one of these before, there can be some fun in visualizing yourself trying them and exploring what kind of muscle memory might be involved. Distractions are removed as simple knots again.
I’m sure there are others I’m forgetting! And just as an afterthought, the idea of each of these is to continuously repeat them until you lapse into a calm mood with minimal distracting thoughts, so that you can do whatever work you’d like to do, if that wasn’t clear!
If anyone took the time to read this then I hope they gave you some pleasant imagery to work with~ 🌺
My cat brought a lizard into the house a few weeks ago. The lizard was unharmed and my mom sent her outside again. Then today my pitbull very carefully brought a lost baby bird to my mom. She didn’t hurt the baby bird, which was shocking to me because, you know, she’s a big ol’ pitbull. The baby bird is outside again. Sometimes I feel like Snow White with all the animals!

New Witch Resources
Hey there, new witches! So, you’ve started down the witch’s path, eh? Well, let me be the first to say WELCOME!!!
One of the most frequent question I get (and hell, the question I had when I first started) is “Where do I start?” There’s really no good answer to this, because each witch will tell you something different. My best advice is to think about what draws you most to witchcraft. Do you like nature? Spirits? Charms? Glamours? Start your research there, and every time you come across a term you don’t know, write it down and research that too.
But, if you’re still stuck, I’ve compiled a few links that are hopefully not too overwhelming. If you have any questions, I am more than open to answering them! Just drop by my ask :)

Gimme A Break Spell My partner and I just can’t seem to catch a break lately, so I talked about crafting a Catch A Break spell. He suggested using a Kit Kat, and the Gimme A Break spell was born! I combined strong symbols to draw in good luck, and symbols to deflect negative energy. I figure there’s a lot of good energy already invested in the Kit Kat brand, so I tapped into that too.
What you will need: A piece of paper, orange writing utensil, Kit Kat candy bar, a magnet, a bell or other small instrument, a black candle and a mirror or bowl of water.
Cast the circle how ever you please. Arrange the magnet in the Northern quadrant for Earth, the bell to the East for Air, the candle to the South for Fire, and the mirror or water to the West for Water. With your projective hand over the magnet say, “Magnet of Earth’s iron, please draw good fortune unto me.” Visualize good things coming your way. The more specific the better.
Ring the bell and let it peal. Then say, “Sweet voice of Air, call good things unto me.”
Light the black candle and say, “Black candle’s Fire, deflect negative energy from me.” Visualize those bad vibes bouncing off your Circle and going far away.
With your projective hand over the mirror (or water bowl) say, “Oh mirrors reflection, deflect negative energy from me.” Again, visualize those bad vibes bouncing off your Circle and going far away.
Pick up the orange pencil and draw a spiral moving inward around the candy while chanting, “Gimme a break, please gimme a break, break me away from this bad energy!” Spend some more time visualizing all those good things you want to come your way.
When you feel you’ve raised enough energy, open the candy, then open the Circle. As you break the candy bar invoke your spell. I like to say, “As I will, so mote it be.”
Enjoy the candy and ground yourself, then wait for your break to come.

Witch Tip☝
Hang a horseshoe “U” facing upwards above a doorway or window to invite good luck and prosperity to your home.
My father always taught me to never hang a horseshoe straight up and down so it looked like a perfect “U”. Instead, to angle it slightly so that the opening was at eleven o’ clock, that way, some of the goodness and prosperity would fall out onto anyone who entered the area. That way you could share the goodness, not just keep it all.
I’ve always really liked that idea.
That is a lovely tip, thank you for sharing ~
Tips for Creating Sigils
I got an ask regarding making your own sigils, what to do and what not to do, etc., and I figured I’d make a full fledged post about it (oh my gods, original content?!). These thoughts and ideas are all based off my own experience and knowledge of sigil magic and crafting. In this post you will find advice and suggestions from me, and that’s how it should be read. What you won’t find are strict dogmas or “you HAVE to do this!,” and I’ll tell you why…
There are no absolutes in sigil magic - there are no things you absolutely *have* to do when creating a sigil in order to make it work. (Well, besides charging it, but that’s another matter, and I suppose I should make a proper post regarding that, but I digress.) Sigils are a part of a branch of magic known as chaos magic, and it encourages its practitioners to experiment and try new things. This is done not only in order to find cool new techniques, but also in the hopes that you’ll find things that are well suited to you. Personalizing your craft and connecting with it can have a huge impact on how your magic works for you.
On that note, it’s okay if something other people do doesn’t work for you. It’s not that you’re doing it wrong, or you’re missing something, or you aren’t a good sigil worker. Different things work for different people. Just because it works for someone else, doesn’t mean it will for you, and that’s absolutely okay! This is another reason it is encouraged you experiment and play around with different techniques and steps, and have a little trial and error. It may seem a bit of a hassle to go through when you just want your sigils to work first try, but practice really makes perfect, and your magic will be all the stronger for the time you took to make sure it works for you in the best possible ways.
Starting with pre-existing methods is a good place to start. If you can find one that works for you that way, awesome. I know not everyone can find a method they like or connect with right away, but looking never hurts. For some ideas of creation methods, you should check out [this post] I made over at @thesigilworkshop - there I talk about my own personal sigil creation method, and provide links for many other methods that can be found here on Tumblr and through other websites.
You don’t always have to stick with that *exact* method, either. If you don’t like or agree with a step, don’t include it - simple as that. You can even Frankenstein bits and pieces from multiple methods to create your own. Using these other crafting methods can be a great jumping off point or provide inspiration and ideas for making your own. If you find you like another method more, you can always switch. I’ve found that, for me, sigil work has been a period of growth and learning, which is still ongoing; I’m still learning new things, and I enjoy experimenting with different methods to see not only how they look but how they react differently. It has been a great time for learning, and my sigil craft has evolved into great things because of it.
Even when you have a method that you adore, it can still take some time for a design to work itself out. Don’t get discouraged over a stubborn design. I once spent about an hour working on one intent, and I think I had around thirty designs drawn before I finally picked one that appealed to me. (I call it “sigilblock.”) Don’t stress yourself out if a design doesn’t want to happen. Taking a break and going back to it with a fresh mind can prove very beneficial.
There are also cases where a design won’t come because you’re not “meant” to have a sigil for that - it’s like the universe’s way of saying “solve this one without magic.” If you find an intent you can’t get a design for, try rewording it, and if the problem persists, give some mundane methods a shot for a while.
Aesthetic actually takes a play in sigil magic as well. Liking how your design looks brings it closer to you in a sense, because you bond with it and how it looks. Creating sigils that are visually appealing to you will help them work better for you. With that being said, it can take some time for you to find a style that suits you and your sigils, and that’s okay. Don’t get discouraged - just keep trying until you get a design that appeals to you. It does take time and practice. I’ve been working with sigils for 18 months; it has taken me this long to get where I am with my style, and I’m still playing around with it. I go back and look at old sigils, and I’m embarrassed by them. XD So, while aesthetic matters, it can take time to get there, so don’t over-stress it when you start out.
Playing around with different alphabets can really help with the aesthetic appeal and the “my sigils look too much like letters” issue. (This is an issue I had really early on; to me the huge draw of sigil work was using these arcane looking symbols that no one could tell what they were. The fact that I could see the letters and building blocks and knew they were made from just a sentence kinda lessened the appeal - this is why most of my sigils are largely abstract now.) I’ll give you a list of some alphabets and methods that might be useful to try and play around with, in order to help with your sigil style.

As a rule of thumb, pop culture alphabets are amazing for making sigils with. (The following links are all external links and lead outside of Tumblr.)
[Gallifreyan] / [Circular Gallifreyan] (Doctor Who)
[Daedric Alphabet] (the Elder Scrolls)
[Dragon Alphabet] (the Elder Scrolls)
[Dwemer and Falmer Alphabets] (the Elder Scrolsl)
[Ancient Hylian Alphabet] (Legend of Zelda)
[Gerudo Alphabet] (Legend of Zelfa)
[Hylian Alphabet] (Legend of Zelda)
Writing out the complete statement of intent you wish to use is very beneficial. This can help keep it solidified in your mind as you’re drawing your sigil, to help further imbue the intent into the symbol. (I tend to repeat my statement of intent over and over, mentally, to ensure it does exactly what it needs to do.) This isn’t required, of course, but it does help provide a visual focus. Not to mention, if you decide to break down the statement into singular letters, it is useful to just cross out the ones you need, and you can see your statement being broken down into this symbol to help you bring it about. (I really hope that babble makes sense.)
Try to stick with only one “theme” for a sigil, and don’t use conflicting intents in one design - so, don’t mix “peace” with energy, or try to use one sigil to send certain energies to one person and different ones to you. For one thing, the energies needed to charge it to complete both tasks might be vastly different, and if you only use a method appropriate for one, the other goal may not manifest as strongly. The energies may intermingle if you do use more than one charging method, and this can make your intent appear in strange ways, sometimes even “negative” ones. If the intents are polar opposites, your sigil is likely just to neutralize and not do either one for you.
With all that said, I think my most important tip would be… Have fun! Experiment! Don’t be afraid to alter your method, or even someone else’s. Don’t be concerned if you do things differently than other people, because ultimately there is no wrong way to do sigils. There’s just our own ways, and as long as it works for you, that is what matters.
I think, for now, that just about covers it! I hope this helps out some people, and best of luck with creating your own sigils! :D
The Witches Ladder
Witches ladders (also known as witch’s ladders) are a type of knot magic that can be used for a wide variety of purposes. They are commonly made by braiding or knotting cords together while incorporating other materials that represent the intention of the creator. Witches ladders can be easily customized for every practitioner and used for nearly any purpose, making them a very versatile and convenient talisman to create. Witches ladders can be used for purposes like attracting or manifesting things, creating a more positive environment, warding off negative entities or energies, protecting yourself or others, or banishing certain behaviors or individuals, just to name a few.
To make a basic witches ladder, you will need:
- Several cords of equal length in colors of your choice
- Whatever materials you choose to weave into the cords (such as feathers, bones, herbs, hair, flowers, seashells, ribbons, beads, hag stones, sticks, crystals, keys, charms, etc.)
Optional but helpful:
- Tape
- A ruler
Some other ideas: You can incorporate pieces of paper with sigils drawn on them, drawstring bags filled with herbs or crystals, or personal symbolic items that have been made from clay or another material. If you are making a witches ladder for an individual, you may wish to include a taglock (a personal item that is strongly associated with the target) to further bond the person to the talisman. Taglocks may include hair, jewelry, etc. Depending on your practice, you may wish to incorporate numerology into your witches ladder by using a specific number of knots, number of cords, or number of items used.
For my witches ladder, I used thick dark green yarn, twine, seashells, goose feathers, ribbon, a pine cone, and a sand dollar. I chose to arrange my goose feathers with the smallest ones at the top and the largest ones at the bottom. I also decided to make a double witches ladder purely for aesthetic reasons, but you can stick to one or make as many as you want.
Creating the witches ladder
1. Start by gathering your materials and getting your cords ready to knot or braid. It may help to tie the cords together on one end and tape the knotted end to a table or another surface. I found that doing so helps to prevent the cords from getting tangled in the process and it helps maintain a nice tension while braiding.
2. As you braid or knot your cords, begin adding your chosen materials. You may wish to recite something or chant as you are doing this, but it is not necessary. Depending on how many items you are using, you may wish to space them out evenly. For this, a ruler may come in handy. In my own experience, I have found that certain materials such as feathers, herbs, flowers, and certain bones can be difficult to braid around. It may be helpful to braid the cords first and then insert your objects into the braid later on.
3. Continue braiding or knotting until you have made your witches ladder as long as you would like it. To finish your witches ladder, you may choose to simply tie off the cords, or you may choose to add something extra to the end. I chose to add a pine cone and ribbon to one of my witches ladders, and a sand dollar to the other. Finish off your witches ladder however you see fit.
4. Hang your witches ladder. You may wish to hang it near a doorway in your home, near your bed, or even outside. The best location for your talisman will depend on both it’s intended purpose and your personal preference. If you have cats or other mischievous pets, it may be a good idea to hang your witches ladder up high or out of their reach.
