It's been good weather for reading lately. I've become more interested in Russian urban fantasy, and there's a fascinating series where mages of Dark and Light exist, but there is no good and bad. They balance each other out; the Dark mages are stronger at night, and so the Light watch over them. The same goes in the opposite way. A mage is Dark if their magic is used for their own purposes. A mage is Light if they are more altruistic. However, altruism isn't given as a virtue, or a good trait. And being more self-concerned isn't portrayed as bad. The concept is fascinating. I'm really into it.
