How long did it take you to stop craving meat? I've been vegetarian since this past November, and I'm now making my way towards becoming a vegan, but I still crave meat sometimes. I'm just so ashamed and disgusted that the smell of meat still smells good to me and still makes me hungry. How long did this go on for you?

It lasted a little bit, mine was more cheese though. I’m not gonna be one of those vegans who very obviously lies about it. I ate like absolute shit before going vegetarian, like fast food and microwave meals all the time and when I did cook it was steak or cheese burgers. I went vegetarian quite literally over night. I didn’t struggle that bad it was mostly when I was starving, and saw like a mcdonalds commercial i’d kind of feel myself slightly panic because I wanted it, especially when you’re going vegan for animals it’s a really shitty feeling to crave that after you really know. I never had any slip-ups or anything because why I was going was so important to me, like I had seen too many videos to ever be able to again. I went vegetarian in 2010 so obviously all that is long gone haha. A lot changes as you’re vegan for a long time, it’s kinda really crazy to me. Like over the years I’ve kinda turned into a squeamish person at times, I get kinda dizzy at certain things and I remember two? thanksgivings ago I was watching someone cut a turkey and I like felt myself get that swimmy feeling that lasted a second, like I see it as so barbaric like that’s just a dead animal man, like it had feathers and was walking around not long ago. Also the smells of foods I use to loveeee, gross me out really bad now like it’s not even edible to me. So what i’m saying is (sorry I get so off track wow) give it time, and don’t get down on yourself about it. Also, something that might help - whatever you’re craving, look up some recipes and make a vegan version of it! You’ll forget about how you ate before in no time, really, and you’ll make new favorites. Your whole world opens up, sounds so corny but it’s true. c:
