You are not paying “more” money for HoT because it includes GW2 Core.

You aren’t. End of. The end. And for those inclear on why the in-game store says “includes Core Game), here’s another post I made today.

Industry standard for new MMO expansion packs has crept up to being in the $50-60 dollar range (sometimes dipping down to $40), as it has been for several years now. A $50 price tag on an expansion is the accepted price of an MMO expansion now. The issue with that, however, has always been that to enter into an MMO, you need to buy previous expansions + the base game to participate. Companies have gotten around this issue with various means: reducing the base game price, bundling precious expansions into the core game, et cetera are all common industry practices (look at say, WoW).

ArenaNet has circumvented the issue of “how do we make this accessible to new players?” by literally giving new players Guild Wars 2 Core for free. They’ve removed the need to buy $40 GW2 Core to play their expansion (bringing the entry price of the game up to $90).

And again: you’re not paying “more” for HoT because it includes the core game. The expansion would be $50 almost no matter what. The price is UNCHANGED by including Guild Wars 2. The core game has been added to buying HoT explicitly so new players don’t have to spend another $40 just to get into the game, and that’s SPECTACULAR.

 I wouldn’t really have a  problem with the price of the expansion pack, if I, as a veteran player, could also get some fun stuff out of the expansion pack base price. Back with guild wars 1, they gave players who bought the new expansions two slots extra to try out the new expansion classes. If it was the first installment you bought, you got your standard five character slots. With this formula, the new players get the five standard character slots, which they can fill as they see fit. But most older players have those filled already which means they would have to pay another 10 euros to try out the expansion exclusive class. So yes, i am not really happy.  It’s also coming right after the other blunder with the heroic chests which a lot of people are still not too happy about.

I’d like it if they would call the new guardian specialisation cupids. 

Also, considering how he holds the bow like you would hold a greatsword, i would like to think most guardians are shit at aiming and just use it to stab someone.
