Exhaustion [Delylah] (DA:I)
Delylah went into her chambers, stomping up the stairs and slamming the door behind her. She normally is a very calm and patient person. Very sweet and nice, but there are days that she feels like she’s going to explode. She was exhausted.
That day she arrived from Orlais very early in the morning. It was still dark with only a small sliver of morning sun marking the grey sky. And to have to deal with orlesian nobility wasn’t  — and never will be — an easy task. She never felt comfortable with their games as if she was constantly walking on eggshells. She was not just physically tired but mentally exhausted too.
She tried to sleep, but she woken up after two hours from an incredibly terrifying nightmare. She didn’t try again. Delylah knew that if she sleep, the nightmare would start all over again. It had been like that since the attack on Haven. She just kept tossing and turning in her bed till the dim light of the first sun’s rays shyly entered her chambers.
Then she spent hours in the morning helping several people in Skyhold. It was something she liked to do, but sometimes it could be quite tiring.
At the end of the day, Leliana called a meeting and when it finally finished , she left  the War Room feeling extremely stressed.
Delylah filled some wine in the glass and took a long gulp, draining the day away. She love her work: helping people and fighting for a better world. But that was one of the rare moments when she would like to forget her title and everything else. She would like to have her old life back and just be a normal person.
The girl looked at the pile of papers on her desk and snorted angrily. There was so many things in her head, so many worries…She just wanted a few hours of peace and to forget the problems, even if just for a short time.
Delylah grabbed a book stashed under her pillows and went down the stairs. Hopefully no one would tease her for read a romance novel, but she tried to find a quiet place where she could read without being disturbed. Her bedroom was not a option because, despite the large windows and balconies, she felt suffocated there.
The girl walked outside along the battlements for some time till she found a spot secluded enough for her. She sat cross-legged on the ground tossing her long and thick braid over her shoulder, opened the book  in her lap and began to read.
After a while, however, the little letters started getting mixed and her eyelids began to weigh. She rubbed her eyes to see better, but when this didn’t work she let out a frustrated moan and closed the book.
It had been three days since the last time she actually slept a peaceful sleep. The nightmares were not frequent, but when they came, she barely slept.  Her mind has begun to deteriorate with exhaustion—her body and mind craved to sleep—but she could not because the nightmares would return and she would waken up screaming in the middle of the night. As a result she was stressed and in a bad mood.
Delylah got up and left the book on a barrel next to her. She sat on the edge of the battlements, with her feet dangling in the air as she watched the sun go down. She took a deep breath, savoring the feel of the cold air in her lungs.
It was such a beautiful sunset, crimson and purple and quiet.
Her eyelids started to weigh a ton and the more she struggled to keep them open, the more she had to shake herself to stay awake.
“Oh, for Andraste’s sake.”, Delylah muttered under her breath.
So she yawned and gave in. She leaned the side of her head against the wall.
“Just for a few minutes,” Then she close her eyes.
