Normally, when Alec stands like that, it’s very much him being a soldier. That’s a military stance. I think it’s ‘at ease’, but I don’t remember. It’s his default ‘working’ position. It’s just how he stands when he’s being Alec Lightwood The Shadowhunter.

But right here? This is not Alec falling into a default professional stance.
This is Alec actively, purposefully, physically restraining himself and holding his hands behind his back so that he does not smack a bitch.
Because Alec Lightwood breaks noses and accepts the consequences later. And he knows this. But he also knows that he can’t afford those consequences right now.
