K-Pop fandoms as Couture gowns.

I picked my favorite couture pieces and some of the most well-known K-pop fandoms and matched them, based on the respective group music style, the concept they represent, colors and their lightstick.

All the gowns and styles are from the Spring 2020 Couture collections.

Inspired Outfits

It’s been a while now that I’ve been creating looks with my personal taste. Of course, that’s something most of us do when picking an outfit for the day or for a special occasion. However, lately I’ve getting a lot of inspiration from outfits that I see worn on my favorite artists. And by inspiration, I don’t mean copying their style, rather that creating new looks form scratch, mostly based on a certain color pallette, or a specific item. 

The two looks I have created were inspired by the outfits worn by BTS members, during the 5th muster in Busan and Seoul. It’s true that I have been crushing on their style for a while now, so I decided to put my creativity into this way. 

Look 1

For the first look, I took a lot of inspiration from the traditional themes that underlie in the groups perfomance of the song IDOL. The usage of kimonos parallels, in a way, the traditional clothing of their country.

My favorite outfit was that of the group’s leader, RM, who combined his long black with gold details kimono with wide pants.

Look 2

For the second look, I paid a lot of attention to the t-shirts the boys themselves painted and wore during the last part of their shows. aRMy (the name of BTS’ fandom), kore (korean for whale), HOPE and more drawings with lots of vivid colors adorned their t-shirts, each one with his own message. I believe it is a playful way to express feelings.

Red Carpet Hero: BTS

When it comes to Red Carpet outfits, women are not the only ones who get my attention. I also enjoy the appearances of stylish gents.

Since last fall, I have been eyeing seven (yes, seven!) talented young men, who have been making very stylish appearances, not only on the red carpet, but while performing as well. Those boys are none other than the seven members of the South Korean group BTS. 

Lately, this k-pop idol group has gained worldwide attention and not only for being very talented and stylish, but also for spreading the message of loving oneself first and foremost. 

They tend to wear casual clothing most of the time - hoodies, baggy pants, jeans, printed jackets and sneakers, indicating that they might be very famous, but they’re still young and they want to feel comfy. However, they made memoriable appearences in fancy suits, designed by some of the biggest fashion houses, without loosing their playfull and youthfull style. Some of my favorite red carpet moments of the theirs are the following.

#PFW Fall 2019 - My favorite moments.

Elie Saab

The incredible Lebanese designer has been one of my favorites for years. Watching his fashion shows is one of my favorite things to do during a fashion week. For the next season, there is an abundance of classic Saab designs, like black lace coctail dresses and gowns. But there is also a lot of color; royal blue, emerland green and crimson. And of course the pattern of the season; an eyes-hands-and-hearts print that can be found on some of the outfits.

Altuzarra

Two words: Plissé and wool. I never thought those two fabrics would combine so well with one another. It turns out that Joseph Altuzarra knows how to make an impressive combination. The colors were also incredible at this fashion show; warm and exotic with creative motifs.

Paco Rabanne

Paco Rabanne's next season is about 70's glam. Lots of old Hollywood inspired outfits, waterfall earrings and military inspired outwear are the new main thing for the brand. Gold and silver dominated the runway, but the colorful patterns were also a thing.

Celine

Now that Hedi Slimane‘s reign at the French fashion house has sank in (to me), I can say that I absolutely enjoyed this particular show. Back to the 70′s is a thing for Celine as well, and it is kind of strange, because that collection brought to my mind images from runways of that time, the way I have watched them on films or other archives from that time. That is truely the classic Celine that aims to everyday women and not Hollywood stars. 

Chanel

The last collection of the late Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel was exactly what I expected; elegance and fineness. The classic patterns of Chanel that will never cease to be contemporary were mixed with the inovations of Karl Lagerfeld and presented in an alpine scenary, with faux snow on the runway, just like he had imagined it; a beautiful day in the mountains.

Red Carpet Hero: Lucy Boynton

During every award season I am always intrested in seeing the appearences on the red carpet, but since the Golden Globes ceremony, I was most interested to see Lucy Boynton. Every time I was amazed by how gracefully she appeared on the red carpet in designs by various fashion houses. Today, and since the award season is officially over, I’m going over my favorite Lucy Boynton award season red carpet moments.

Rodarte -  10th Governors Awards

Back in November 2018, Lucy wore this red polka dot Rodarte dress, from the fall 2018 collection of the brand. This shade of red compliments her so beautifully, and I love the fact that she kept her hair and makeup quiet to emphasize the intensity of the color of the dress. Flirty mood and romantic vibes is all over.

Emilia Wickstead -  30th Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala

Early in 2019, Lucy appeared at the annual Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala in this Emilia Wickstead resort 2019 dress. I am quite a big fan of the british designer, but seeeing that dress worn by Lucy makes me love everything about the look; from the the elegant leght of the dress, to the golden embrodery which makes the look glamorous but sophisticated at the same time. 

Celine -  76th Golden Globe Awards

That look gave me (golden) chills! When I saw this Celine spring 2019 dress on the runway, I could never imagine how incredible it would look as a gown on Lucy Boynton. Despite the gold, glamorous color, this look gives me a boho, 70′s vibe as well. I am also a very big fan of her bob.

Prada -  2nd Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society Awards

This custom Prada gown is one of the best I’ve seen worn this award season. I like the cool grey tone and, lately, I’ve become a very big fan of those metallic fringes embroideries, which add motion to the dress. I also have to give a big thumbs up to that splendit updo on Lucy’s short bob.

Chanel -  Charles Finch x Chanel pre-Bafta dinner

I know this is not an award ceremony red carpet, but it would be a crime not to refer to that moment as one of my favorites. This Chanel spring 2019 ensemble is so chic, but it has a playful vibe with that cat ears shaped wing - this might as well be the coolest wing I’ve seen this year so far!

Rodarte -  91st Academy Awards

Full circle to another Rodarte look. This custom made gown has a dark couture essence (to me), which contrasts with Lucy’s light complexion, and comes to a perfect balance with the romantic pink hues of her makeup. Some would probably argue with me, but I feel that on that spesific event, Lucy did not want to steel the light from her plus one - Rami Malek, as she was not a nominee and he was the star of the night. If that was the goal, I am totally on board! To me she’s totally bewitching in that gown.

The 91st Academy Awards cerermony was held yesterday in Los Angeles and the red carpet awards have some very stylish winners! Let’s take a look at the best dressed of the event and the glam teams behind them.

Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Couture

My jaw drop literally on the floor when I saw that gracious lady in her new brunette hair. She seriously needs to keep this look. She looked divine in the baby blue costum-made gown by Dior. Except her new hair look and the gorgeous dress, I loved the bright red lip which gave a modern twist in her total look. Makeup by Kate Lee, hair by Adir Abergel, styled by Leslie Fremar.

Glenn Close in Carolina Herrera

I wanna be like her when I reach 71. She was a golden statue all by herself in that golden costum-made Carolina Herrera gown with a magestic loooong cape.

Constance Wu in Atelier Versace

The Crazy Rich Asians actress wore the most eye-catching colored gown. This marigold yellow gave her her own princess moment on the red carpet and she seemed to enjoy it. Makeup by Molly Greenwald, hair by Derek Yuen, styled by Micaela Erlanger.

Brie Larson in Celine

The 2016 Academy Awarded actress dared to go ultra glamorous and out of her comfort zone after a while. From the open back to the high slit of her dress, she oozed Hollywood glamour. Her soft waves styled bob was also marvel-ous! Makeup by Nina Park, hair by Bryce Scarlett, styled by Samantha McMillen.

Lucy Boynton in Rodarte & Rami Malek in YSL

The best dressed couple of the night kept things simple - in Rami’s case - but with an essence of a fairytale - in Lucy’s case. Lucy was elegant in her off-shoulder custom made Rodarte gown and a gorgeous styled bob, with which I’ve fallen in love! Makeup by Jo Baker, hair by Jenny Cho, styled by Leith Clark.

The best actor Oscar winner was very polished as well in his YSL by Anthony Vaccarello suit. Grooming by Marissa Machado, styled by Ilaria Urbinati.

Amy Poehler in Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition

I love a woman in a suit. And when she does it as good as Amy did last night, I am speechless. Perhaps, I missed a little color, but she wore the total black outfit amazingly that I don’t think about it anymore. Makeup by Kayleen McAdams, hair by Kylee Heath, styled by Karla Welch.

Tribute to Karl Lagerfeld.

Last Tuesday, on February 19th 2019, the whole world was informed about the passing of one of the most iconic and important fashion designers of all times. Of course, these words are not mine. The fashion world had characterized him as such a very long time ago. His contribution to fashion is enormous, as he was was a true artist and visionaire.

As I am too young to speak of his exceptional work as an artist and designer, I would like to share some of my favorite moments of Karl Lagerfeld as a fashion designer on the runway and on the red carpet in the past decade.

There are so much more moments of exceptional style that I’d like to share, but they will never be enough to appreciate the talent of Karl Lagerfeld. I am just greatful to have seen a part of the (r)evolution he brought to the fashion world. 

May he rest in peace.

Red Carpet Hero: Shailene Woodley

As a person who is very interested in fashion and styling, I have been following ther red carpet fashion for a while now. And, of course, over the past year, I have been following the works of many celebrity stylists. Therefore, I can now say that I am able to understand the phylosophy a spesific stylist follows. To my big surprise, last fall, I noticed changes on Shailene Woodley’s red carpet style, and I immdietly realised that not only had she changed her stylist, but I also enjoyed the new aproach.

So, here is my review of her NYFW outfits.

This yellow overcoat is probably the most fashionable outwear I’ve seen worn this winter. The pop of color adds great impact to young Shailene and this outfit is anything but unnoticeble. I also adore the loose waves hairstyle.

Although I am not a big fan of Proenza Schouler, I have to admit that this outfit looks super cool. The leather shirt is my favorite part. I also have to love the beauty team, and especially the makeup.

Last but not least, the actress attented the Marc Jabos fall 2019 fashion show. Doesn’t she look like she came straight off the runway?! Although prints are not my favorite styling direction, she nails that outfit. From the floral-y motif of the dress to the incredible hair and makeup.

I mean, in this photo she gives me all the romantic ‘Valentine’ vibes with a hint of glamour. She makes me wanna try that makeup look!

#NYFW Fall 2019 - My favorite moments.

Oscar de la Renta

I’ve always loved the House of De la Renta. The setting that was chosen for the presentation, gave me the feeling that the collection was a passage to Asia, with the spicy colors of cinnamon and turmeric and the Persian carpet like prints.

Brandon Maxwell

As a person who loves monochromatic outfits, Brandon Maxwell satisfies my tastes every time. The numerous well tailored outfits of the collection and the variety of jackets and overcoats gave me the sensation of being chic no matter the temperature outside.

Cushnie

Carly Cushnie likes to play with textures a lot. Velvety designs were the ones that caught my eye the most and the color pallet of deep blue, purple and burgundy are so beloved to me.

Ulla Johnson

Warm oranges and vibrant maroons are the main colors in this collection. The wool daywear and the overcoats are the pieces that have me awaiting for next winter!

Longchamp

This collection gave me a 70′s nostalgia. However, there is a twist in the dynamic of the outfits, which are bold and ooze modern femininity.
