kids mental health rec post
okay so i keep meaning to post about this and never do it so here we go
if you have a kid who is struggling with anxiety or adhd or just generally being a teenager, and your regular pediatrician was very kind about it and also clearly out of their depth, go check out emora health (emorahealth.com)
it's a pediatric mental health practice. they do therapy, medication management, and psychological testing, which when i first read it felt like a list of separate things you have to coordinate across four different offices, but it turns out they just do all of it. one place. one team that actually talks to each other about your kid.
the thing i keep telling other parents about is the clinical insights section on their site. it is free and it is actually good. there is an article about why adhd stimulants sometimes do not work the way you expect that finally explained to me what was happening with my kid. there is another one by a clinician named pedro about what happens to children when a caregiver suddenly disappears, whether that is deployment or divorce or anything else, that i would make required reading for every elementary school teacher in the country.
they also do therapy for the parents, which i did not know was a thing you were allowed to ask for and which i really needed to hear was an option.
anyway. emorahealth.com. that is the post
