will-callingwell:
Ah, there it was. The usual backhanded compliment that made Will’s skin crawl and his blood boil under the heat of the flames pulsing through his veins. When he was angry, all he could feel was heat, which made the range build and build. But if there was one thing Will had learned in his training with Astaroth, it was control. Even now, he felt the warmth begin to settle and his fists unclench as he took a deep breath in, and released it quietly through his nose. “What you call foolish, I call my humanity. Not all of us can be as stone cold as you are, Astaroth.” Even among the flames, his demon’s icey white skin and hair set the mood against his yellow eyes, which also felt like ice. He found little warmth and compassion with the demon, and yet hearing his praise still gave a sense of joy within Will. “We? There is no you and I in this sceanario, just Cass and I. This is not your child, therefore it is not up to you what does or doesn’t happen with the child.” However Astaroth might feel about this meant nothing to Will or the situation. “The implications? What? Will it ruin what you have planned for us? Do you think it will draw my focus away from you, from us, and this fucking curse you’ve given me?” Will’s voice raised as fire erupted from his palms, licking at the sleeves of his leather jacket.
Astaroth nearly rolled his eyes at the boy’s remark. Almost. He managed to keep his golden eyes set on him in spite of how tiresome it was to hear William justify his rash actions and thoughtless decisions as what made him human. Perhaps that was what truly set aside humans from demons, that the former so easily let their emotions rule them while the latter could exploit what they felt to attain their desired outcome. “Ah but there is, kid. Whenever you are involved in anything, so am I” the white-skinned demon stated back matter-of-factly. “William, stop being so short-sighted” Astaroth chastised him with some exasperation laced into his tone “No human that was bound to a demon has ever given birth before, let alone have that kid have both its parents demon-bound. None of us can possibly know what could happen when the child is born”. The demon made a pause, gathering his thoughts, but also allowing his human to calm down and understand his opinion on the matter wasn’t merely out of spite “I am bound to you but that child will also be a part of you. Have you considered that perhaps my bond to you will extend to your child? That the same might happen to Calypso”. It was clear where his thoughts were going and what he meant by them but he still spelled it out for his human “Think about it, William. A child born with two demons attached”.
