They have weirdly similar smirking sprites.
we all got that one friend who thinks he's beyond saving
I'm really obsessed with the way you draw beanix... i think i hauve covid. the plague even
thank youuuuu here's a version of him I did recently with long hair
doodles from a heckuva long time ago (mostly apollo) (of course)
Back to my roots
why are his hands always in his pockets.... who is he, sans undertale ?
see to me this is yet another important detail in his characterization. like i'm sorry to get serious here but it means a lot to me. hands are a very signature detail in phoenix's previous sprites: i mean, he does the objection, he points the finger, he lawyers the law, so him hiding his hands is sort of symbolic to him not being a lawyer anymore and kind of giving up on in in general. he never (or rarely) says his badge got taken away, usually he phrases it as him "giving up law", as if it was voluntary. but anyway, hands are also important for him as a character now: he is quite literally hiding his "hand", as in the cards he will play. and last but no least, hands are an important detail in aa4 overall: kristoph gavin's "devil" is on his hand, he kills people with nail polish with a hand on it, fingerprints play a very important part in cases and so does handwriting, and honestly, i could go on.
Yesss! I love a good seven year gap Phoenix Wright character study! Now, with documented body language.
Beams period cramps to Barok Von Zieks because hes rascist and i dont like him
Goofy Edgeworth sprite studies
I've seen some people say that the reason they dislike aa4 is because of how "cynical" it is, citing the direction they take with Phoenix and Ema's characters.
I disagree with calling it cynical. It isn't "life doesn't go the way you want and that sucks so there's no point," it's "life doesn't always go the way you want, and that sucks, but there's still hope and joy to be had"
Phoenix's career is in shambles but his life has gone on. He has a daughter now who he gets to love and take care of. He shows Apollo the locket with her picture the same way he used to show people his glass bottle necklace and his badge. When he's telling Apollo about his power, really what he's doing is talking proudly about his daughter. When he's in the hospital, a "kid" sends him Steel Samurai DVDs (who I believe to be Maya, if she gets to call him an old man he gets to call her a kid)
Ema still lights up when you bring her fingerprint powder (during the same investigation we first see her!) and whenever forensics is involved, and she becomes friends with Trucy and Apollo
Klavier talks during turnabout serenade about how life is complicated, so he tries to at least stay simple on the inside
Vera learns that while there are a lot of bad people in the world, there's a lot of good people, too
And the whole thing is about the beginning of reform for a corrupt justice system.
It might seem cynical at first glance, but really it's meant to be hopeful
She was not a fan of that particular decision
ace attorney art dump except it’s all trucy
Took him seven years, but he can ask for help now.
