The other day my wife told me about this influencer who said she needed to go on ozempic so she could go from 130 lbs down to 115 and I really cannot stress the degree to which we have so COMPLETELY lost the plot with this glp1 shit. Like not only are people are going on this shit for purely cosmetic purposes, the cosmetic purposes are delusional. This is the kind of mindset that gives people eating disorders but now because you can get a prescription instead of having to starve yourself or enduce vomiting a big swath of the general public seems eager to go along with it. Body Positivity did not go fucking far enough because I am being so real when I say that fatphobia is more of a public health crisis than obesity has ever been
I kept forgetting my nighttime antidepressant so I set an alarm where the sound was a recording of me saying "HEY. TAKE YOUR FUCKING PILL" because I thought it would be funny. It was funny about three times, and then it started making me mad and I'd dismiss it right away to make it stop. So I handed my phone to my partner, who made another recording sweetly saying "Okay Shira, it's time to take your medication" and now I don't get mad anymore and I take my pill. The "compassion over punishment" camp has gotta get something wrong one of these days

Fun fact! Theres a study that came out recently about how the impulse to fix a negative emotions/'suffering' is more common in individualist culture than collectivist one. Not that it means collectivist society care less about the individuals, but it does point out a value that we often assume as universal moral fact (i.e. alleviate 'suffering'/negative emotions immediately) is actually a cultural product stemming from the belief that negative emotions are just purely bad and unwanted.

Obviously I loooved all the time travel / canon divergence AUs hk fics. But this was mostly inspired by Rain World fics and... Attack on Titan. I told myself I shouldn't start more crossover stories, so instead I'm drawing a comic AU (I sound suspiciously like Undertale fandom years and years back, there were sooo many comics)
The story I have planned is short, but if I give up and finish the fic instead, at least there'll be some pages illustrated.
Yes I drew and painted this on paper, then I realized my handwriting is, um, an abomination. So yay, I spent time editing in some actual readable words.
Yeah, ok, I actually can't just let this go, I have been mulling it over for hours now, and I have a blurb idea.
We're going to go with the "sing with her?" Objective, based on how Hornet plays the Needolin in Silksong.
"Holly!" The little red blur darted to the Hollow Knight's post, bouncing excitedly. "Holly, Mama taught me to string my needle today and- and play it! Look, look, watch!"
She propped her small, dull training needle up, and very carefully guided silk from end to end. Once it was secured, she squeaked in delight, and displayed her work to The Hollow Knight. Their head was angled ever so slightly down to watch her, and her excitement grew. They were paying attention!
Her nerves grew a little as she set it back down and leaned it against herself, but she powered through. "I only know one song so far! But I'll play it for you so you know it too, and then we can do it together, ok??" Taking a deep breath, she began.
"The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout." The playing was a but stuttered as she struggled over the new motions, but she remained determined.
"Down came the rain and washed the spider out," Rain only came down in the city of tears, but maybe Holly would like that, since they spent so much time there!
"Out came the sun and dried up all the rain!" She chanced a glance up at Holly, feeling a little crestfallen as she noticed they weren't looking at her anymore. That's ok! Holly is a knight, and is probably just scanning for threats to make sure no one interrupts her performance! She powers on.
"And the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again!" She finishes, triumphant. "There! It's kind of a weird song. No SMART spider would keep trying to climb somewhere that's always flooding, and- and I don't really know what a sun is. Mama says its a surface thing, and our ant-cess-ters made the song from when they traveled here." She shrugged, and scurried a little closer. "Sing with me, Holly? Pretty please? I know you don't talk very much, but singing is tooootally different! I'm sure Father won't mind! You don't have to be shy!"
They didn't react. Didn't look down at her again as she pleaded with them. Didn't so much as HUM along when she started to play again and hope that they would join in. Eventually, she trailed off, needle tip trailing behind her dejectedly as she went.

Hornet... couldn't quite breathe right. The air felt caught in her chest, and she realized belatedly she was gripping the list tight enough to pierce through it. Hollow had been trying... they'd been trying so hard to connect with her, the only ways they knew how. The only interests they knew of her.
And here she was. Brushing away their every attempt. Her time, long and long and so fucking lonely, as Hallownests's protector had jaded her. Simple pleasures became out of reach luxuries so long ago, that the thought hadn't even crossed her mind.
Gods, she was a terribly sister.
Cautiously, she glanced back up. Hollow had already disappeared around the bend of the path, likely not even having noticed her calling to him after dropping the list.
...She could fix this still.
The opportunity arose several days later when they passed by the Grimm Troupe. Hollow seemed distracted enough by a group of jugglers, and she slipped away to find...
"Ah, Troupe Master Grimm," she raised a hand, hurrying over to him. He turned to look at her.
"Yes, child?"
"I have a question... and a request."

That night, set up in a borrowed red tent, Hornet felt rather uncharacteristically nervous. Nervous as she hadn't felt since all those years ago. She took a deep, measured breath - carefully ignoring how Hollow shot her a concerned glance from the corner of their eye - and reached to pull something from her bag.
"Hollow?"
They offered her their full attention, full body angled towards her, and she once again felt a pang of guilt. She tamped it down though, and lifted the instrument.
"This is called a lap Harp. It can be played one handed. Would you..." She tipped it towards them a little bit, "Would you like to learn to play it together? Maybe... Maybe 'the Itsy Bitsy Spider?' I... made a pattern sheet for you to follow. With Grimm's help."
Hollow lit up with joy. And they nodded.

EDIT: I would like to say that I have more where this came from, and if given permission, I would like to write and post a whole fic based on this comic. I SHOULD have asked permission first, but I got carried away. 😅 Sorry about that.

Heyyy... I know it's been like a month since I said I'd be finished, but I had to violently beat burnout back into Hell where it belonged first. 🙃 Whether I used a broom, a bat, or a machete, I shall leave up to you and your imagination.
For now, this is just chapter 1, more of a prologue than anything, it's pretty short. 2 and 3 are under beta review, and I'm still trying to wrangle chapter 4 into cooperation. However, my google doc is currently like 50 pages, so. Plenty of content, once I actually post it!
