Somehow, the thinly veiled threat didn’t feel so menacing as it should have. For as fearsome as Yakumo was, as much as the Untouchable Ones feared him, Raidou did not. The boy did not, by any means, trust this man nor a word he spoke, but he did sense his intentions. Yakumo was a man hardened by his past, unwavering in his convictions. The latter part, the summoner understood well, for he, too, was as stubborn and relentless as the devil himself. The older man stood before him not as an adversary, though not a friend. Perhaps a messenger of things to come.
Yakumo might have believed that he could decipher him, probe the hidden depths of the boy in his midst. Raidou believed he was mistaken, for he could not even define him. Yakumo did not know what he was, the rumors whispered throughout the Kuzunoha village which followed him throughout his young life. If he did, the man would have likely attempted to kill him on the spot. For that, there was a sense of ease which fell over Raidou, no matter how often the other made his idle threats. It wasn’t as though he imagined he could not defeat Yakumo, but simply that he did not wish to incur undue malice. One could grow weary of fighting.
Even so, he wasn’t about to be dismissed. This encounter was an opportunity, as unintended as it was. The detective’s apprentice never wasted an opportunity to obtain knowledge. “Answer me this.” His words came not as a query, but as a quiet yet firm demand. He would not mince words with this man. “When this is all over, what do you intend to do?” When the fighting was done and everything was achieved, when there were no more choices left to make. “How would you shape the world if you could?” Those bright eyes narrowed softly, watching from just beneath the brim of his hat. The frown upon his visage had deepened.
"...I would die. Along with every other demon that dares to exist in this world. Who ever leads the new world, would be a human with greater skills then what we possess and offer to this world."
He has no blindness to how unfitting he is to the world. How only those strong would lead, the truly strong would lead the humans into a new era. Wether it was good or not depends on the strength that was left. So long as they were human.
"My only goal, is to lead this world to one without demons, forever, once that is achieved...."
He tips his hat, hiding his face in the shadows of the cap.
"Though thinking about it when it has remains to be done, there is still too much to do." Yakumo has a long road ahead of him, Nuwa love for humans being the tipping point of having such a major player be ready to support him. without her, he wonders if he would have died already. most likely.
Ah, that was a familiar pose. The kid in his care did, on occasion, use a similar motion to hide his face from view when he was feeling awkward. It wasn’t too often anymore, not around him, but it did happen. One wouldn’t have guessed at Raidou’s shy nature if they had first witnessed him performing his duties as a Devil Summoner - the kid could be so bold, so commanding even as he forever minded his manners. Patient, but always in control. A very different side that few were accustomed to. Most also didn’t have the ability to turn the young summoner into a blushing, speechless mess with a few words. Narumi held that record consistently.
Yet the mention of eventual retirement did pacify that jovial amusement for a moment, for his guest referred to such an ideal so casually. There was a pause in their conversation, brief but somehow filled to the brim, like stagnant air in an old home. The lingering silence felt nearly oppressive, as the detective’s mind wandered, quite against his will, towards tepid darkness.
Given the nature of his title and the work which was expected of him, both he and the summoner knew that Raidou would not likely have a full life. Eventually, something would happen. One wrong move, a split second decision that would cost him everything. What really got to Narumi was the idea that the day would come and he might never know. Raidou would simply not come home. That thought twisted something in his gut and he had to stifle it before it turned into an ache.
A soft grunt escaped his throat as he stood from his chair. It was about time that he saw to that tea. Of course, Narumi didn’t allow his guest to see the inner turmoil playing out in his head. He flashed a brilliant yet forced smile towards Yakumo, making a show of letting out a tired sigh. All a distraction. He didn’t need to be thinking about this right now. “I’ll get that tea ready. I hope you like matcha.” Without another word, the detective headed back towards the kitchen. Eventually, he returned with a teapot filled with hot water and a couple slices of the promised tea cake. Matcha flavored, as was hinted at.
Yakumo is awkward in the face of men who had the time and love to grow up into proper men. A young boy raised solely by a demon only knows how to think like one, his way of thinking, though forcing himself to try and being a normal human had failed, much to Nuwa frustration.
There is nothing human about him anymore, despite his appearance. Living in such close vacinity to someone who once held the title of mother goddess, changes the body in ways you cannot expect to.
"..Thank you for the meal." For someone as big as Yakumo, his size was more artificial , made with magatsuhi and not much else within the world of demons. His interactions with humans were close to nill. he's more demigod then human now.
Just as he thought, the food taste like nothing.
Nuwa had said once he crossed a threshhold, only a certain part of the human body would have a taste. She would not say which part.
"...As someone who believes even the young devil summoner is still growing...I might come back with more supplies. I have heard from your various customers that there is only...bread here. And other things that are not quiet as suitable for a growing child."
He doesn't know what else to say.

"You know, you're not going to get any demon killing done if you keep lounging around like that." So much for standing his ground-- Of course, Chihiro makes the light joke out of it. He's seen Yakumo's endeavours himself —running around Tokyo to protect the people being attacked. "Also-- if you're going to sleep... he might as well go home for that."

It seems he was doing something called, being bait. of course with Yakumo its unknown how intentional it actually was.
honda would be a follower of qaditsu if they promise to cure his son tbh
