It seems like our careers take up a lot of time. Honestly Sophie I don’t know where it all went wrong.

It’s not like you’re in Southvale that much these days. It wouldn’t make much of a difference.

Maybe I’ll just move to this resort permanently instead of just spending a week here.

I usually would too but I’ve been gone for a while and I did miss being home.

That makes sense. Southvale is a lot safer now so there is that. We’re having a party later tonight. It should be fun.

That is true. Okay I’m down for that. Hopefully it will live things up because it’s boring right now.

Field work chose you. [Tips her glass of Scotch towards him] I had to chase after it and make it my bitch. It comes naturally to you, Levine, don’t try to deny it. So what’s got you all depressed and down in the dumps? Something happen?

You had to chase it because of your father. You can’t run away from it. [He takes a sip of the scotch and shrugs] Maybe you’re right. I couldn’t do anything else. [Derek sighs] No everything is.. normal. That’s the problem.

Guess who got a frown from her boss when he walked past her? That’s better than an angry look. I think it’s one step closer to a smile. So cheers to that or to it being a good excuse to try this cheap bottle of scotch.

A frown? That’s definitely an improvement. I detest cheap bottles of scotch but I could give it a try. I need some alcohol.

Do you think I’d turn down a good Scotch? Top it up, Levine, don’t be shy. And I know I’m not supposed to look weak and all that but…sometimes I wish I had just chosen another job. Maybe some sort of cushy office job. It’s hard to disappoint people when there isn’t really anyone around to disappoint, right?

[He smirks] I always liked that about you. [He pours her a glass of scotch and slides it over to her] Yeah I know what you mean but we’d be bored within 5 minutes. It would be cool to not disappoint people or have our mistakes make the difference between life and death. Field work chose us, not the other way around.

I made a new years resolution never to drink and get deep and meaningful but I suppose one for old time’s sake wouldn’t be the worst thing…Are you going to need tissues?

I thought all New Year’s resolutions were over after February so you’re good. Ha ha very funny. I don’t need tissues just a few glasses of scotch. [He grabs the bottle of scotch and pours himself a glass] do you want some?

[puts her head in her hands] I know what you mean [she replies softly] Sometimes it’s hard trying to keep the people of this country safe and sometimes you just want them to stay saved, right?

Yeah that’s exactly it but there’s always lives on the line and there’s no real off days. I see Flora’s enthusiasm as a rookie --- I had that before but right now I can’t say it’s the same. We need alcohol if we’re going to go down this road. Are you up for it?

[smiles slightly] Was that an apology? Don’t mention it. You might be right about Fields, he’s been acting a bit funny.

It was. My first and last apology for the year. [He smiles at her and then sighs] That’s what worries me. If he does something stupid concerning the FBI it won’t be pretty. I can’t believe I’m saying this shit but I’m so damn tired of my job at the moment.
