When you grow up being known as a freak, you take some pride in it. You even turn it into a way to make quick cash every now and again. Derrick is not ashamed of what he is, at least not anymore now that he’s found a way to turn a profit. He know he’s not alone, he just doesn’t care. He prefers to play the role of the lone wolf, the hardened vagabond. With his ability to track people, things, and even ghosts he does truly believe that even with his ability there are just some things better left lost.

Body to body, lip to lip Kal would find herself burning up a little bit into it. Why? She hadn’t had this in so long that she wanted nothing more than to jump him here in the hallway, but she would show restraint. Slowly pulling away from the kiss she’d blush and smile.

“I’ll see you tomorrow night.” With that she would leave him, head back to her place to get the boys in bed. And herself a cold shower. She needed it.

Her pulling away he’d follow after her for a moment but let her pull away, smiling. “See you then....” he watched her go, smiling at her. Well, he was looking forward to the next night....he’d have to find a good place to take her.

“ Just you and me. I look forward to it. And Derrick?” Kal placed her hand on the back of his neck and pulled him close to her. She said not until the second dinner, but when you think about it this would be the second they had. Take out, sure , was the first and she did say that she made but who needed the details?

Pressing her lips on his she’d give him a deep, slow kiss, She could have left it at that, but making it a little more heated seemed appropriate.

“Yes Kal?” He raised an eyebrow at her. The kiss though he’d chuckle at, leaning in and kissing her deeply, holding her into it. His hand would be at her hip, holding her hard to him as he continued to kiss her.

Feeling his hand on her arm would cause chills and she smiled at Derrick sweetly. “I can walk you out before I put the boys to bed. “ She would take the bag and hand it to him, motion him out the door though she would carefully close the door behind her and just follow Derrick to his door.

“You know, you are welcome over for dinner any time. I promise i do cook more than we have take out.”

“I’d appreciate that,” he’d walk with her to his door, smiling as she followed him. “I’ll take you up on that. Its nice eating dinner with you,” he brushed her hair back.

“Tomorrow, just you and me though right?”

Kal felt him brushing against her and there would even be alight moan at one point that she hoped the water running would drown out. Once the food was packed away for Derrick to take she placed it in an easy to carry bag, but she needed to put her hands on the counter and breathe. He was attractive, he was kind, he had deep eyes, and that voice of his was just a reminder that Kal hasn’t had sex in years. But he has, sex is even in his work out routine! This was a torture.

Oh he could hear the slight moan and he was smiling at it, finishing cleaning up the dishes. Looking at the bag of food she had packed for him, he turned to her, raising an eyebrow.

Well. At least he knew she’d be thinking about him.

“Should I go and let you tuck in your boys?” he came over, gently sliding a hand up her arm.

“Okay.” She would let him help, though there was so little space in the kitchen for two people. There are days she wonders if she shouldn’t take the counters out that they sometimes sit at for breakfast or move it back further. She was renting this place after all, she wasn’t sure what she could and couldn’t here.

But she would start pulling out containers to put him some food in, and even cut up the cake so he could take a few pieces with him, but all the while they moved around there was a number of times they brushed up against each other, not that Kal minded… But it wasn’t helping her out int he slightest.

He would move plates to the sink so he could wash them, making sure to be as helpful as possible. And also brush against her as much as possible. What can he say, he wanted to remind her he was here in case she wanted to rethink her no kiss on the first dinner rule.

“ Maybe. We’ll see how well you do then.” She was smiling and then she heard the boys in the bathroom getting loud and she sighed, calling out to them in Spanish. That’s when they knew she meant business. They would quiet and Kal would chuckle. “ I suppose I should clean up and make you a to-go bag.”

“I’ll do my best,” He chuckled, nodding slightly at her. “Let me help you out with cleaning up, its the least I can do,” he’d stand up, looking to help.

Kal chuckled and would lean back, sighing softly then look at the time. “Boys, it’s time to go get cleaned up for bed.” She’d clap her hands, and it would follow with the “aw mom” as they would be turning everything off and heading toward the bathroom to get ready for bed. Kal sighed but she smiled at Derrick. “ Probably for the best, I don’t usually kiss on the first dinner I make a guy.”

He chuckled as they went to get ready for bed, shaking his head. Smiling back at Kal he nodded. “I get it....maybe on the second dinner?” What could he say, he was hopeful.

Kal was tempted to actually kiss him but she knew that doing so right now would be a bad move. And yet temptation was there. Couldnt’ blame her! Grinning she did lean in a little more but then she heard Damian’s voice. “Are you two going to kiss?”

He smiled as she leaned in, shifting himself closer....when Damian’s voice broke through and he turned his head to look toward where it came from. “...apparently not.”

“ Different how?” She chuckled. “ As long as he’s nice and good with kids. I trust you, so I trust him by association.” Leaning in she’d just smile at him. “I look forward to it.”

“Different in, even though I’m the younger brother, I’m mistaken as older. You’ll see when you meet him, I promise,” he chuckled, smiling as she leaned in, moving a hand gently over hers.

“If your brother is anything like you I’m sure the boys will love him. How about tomorrow night? It’s short notice but I haven’t really had a long weekend off in months and I would like to make the most of it. I’m sure the boys would be fine with it.” And they would be, after all they’re trying themselves to set mom up with the cool mafia guy down the hallway.

“He’s a bit different...” he laughed, scratching his chin. “But he’s nice and good with kids. Trust me you’ll like him,” he nodded, smiling. “I can work with tomorrow no problem. I know a good place we can go.”

Leaning in to him as well, Kal grinned. “You could ask me on that real date and find out if you’re brave enough.” The boys were too busy playing to listen in, and he did say he wouldn’t do it in front of the Mario Kart cheaters!

“I’m definitely brave enough, don’t you worry about that,” he licked his lips and nodded at her. “What would be the best time for a date? My brother could babysit the boys you know...”

She would let him if he offered, she hated her ex that much. Kal chuckled. “They have wild imaginations. The last neighbor we had they were so sure he was working for the CIA.” Taking notice of his eyes wandering over her she would grin at him. “ Especially if they saw half of what was in my closet. Or in a locked drawer by the bed.” Leaving things for his imagination? Why not? It’s the least she could do.

He smirked, leaning in slightly to her. “Oh really?I have a feeling you’d have things that would make a man weep...” He’d took a bite of the cake, staring into her pretty blues.

Kal laughed lightly. “You don’t have to be. Just…After Damian happened and I found out that I was going to have him like clockwork his dad was gone. I should have expected it after Andre but second chances and all that…Then he was born and I had two boys to look after. Meeting guys wasn’t really on my agenda. I couldn’t really fit it in to my agenda.Being a single mom, two kids, working a great job but with unstable hours…” Kal shook her head slowly. “After that I swore I’d not even give their father that chance to get me into bed again. But he’s tried when he’s come around.” Kal grumbled, stabbing her fork into her piece of cake. “I didn’t mean to vent all of that, but you’re a nice guy, my boys like you and I just want you to know right off what comes with knowing us Lyceon’s. “ she didn’t even let the boys have their father’s last name, though they had fought about it once before. “ But what you do is fine. Having sex is fine. I’m a mom, not a nun.”

He listened intently to what she was saying, nodding. At hearing her ex tried a few times he frowned, wondering if he could punch him....maybe he wasn’t good enough friends yet for that.

“Its alright. You all seem very nice, although your boys seem to think I’m some mob boss or something,” he laughed softly.

“I don’t think anyone could mistake you for a nun,” his eyes wandered over her before snapping back to her face.

He was honest and she liked that about him. She would chuckle nervously and shrug. “When I can I go to the park with the boys, play sports with them. Mostly I stay on my feet at work or running back and forth to school meetings or deliveries…” Taking another bite of cake she’d turn pink in the cheeks. “ I haven’t done the bedroom activities since…Damian was conceived.”

“Sounds nice,” he smiled. But at her saying she hadn’t done anything since Damian he blinked in surprise at her. “Thats....fine...sorry I’m just not a person whose good at going without those things for awhile.”

Cutting Derrick a slice she was half tempted to ask about his variety of work outs but that she felt was better once the boys were out of ear shot. And soon they would be playing their game, getting loud leaving Kal and Derrick to the cake.

“ A variety of work-outs, huh?” she asked taking a bite of her own slice, brow raised at him. “ Dare I ask ?”

“A variety indeed,” He smirked at her, nodding. “Well, I usually spend at least an hour a day working out and well....I enjoy myself in the bedroom,” he shrugged slightly. It wasn’t a lie, he didn’t think she’d appreciate it if he did.

“ The way I see it, the boys are active enough and can burn it off easily enough and you - “ she paused looking at him carefully as though she were imagining what she looked like under that shirt of his. She couldn’t see what he had going on but she could imagine. “ - I’m sure you’ll be fine.” The boys were anxious to get a slice of cake which they would scarf down without breathing and Kal just shook her head. “Would you like a slice, Derrick?” Though once the boys were done, it’d leave the adults time to talk at the table while they went back to their game.

He raised an eyebrow at Kal, smirking. “Oh? You think so?” he smirked at her, rubbing his chin. “Although I do have a...variety of workouts that will help out with the cake I’m sure.”

“I would, thanks.”

Kal chuckled and the boys huffed as they ate their dinner, though once that was complete Kal would bring out the cake she made. A chocolate cake with frosting just the same, only she had some fun decorating it and making it fancy. The boys eyes lit up and they were excited for the cake as any child would be for sweets!

He’d eat the dinner happily, enjoying it completely. He felt he had to eat as much as possible, it was so good. Seeing the cake he whistled at it, smiling at her. “You’re looking to fatten us up huh?”
