Irish Literature : 'Translations' is a three-act play written in 1980 by Irish playwright Brian Friel. Brian Patrick Friel (9 January 1929 – 2 October 2015) was an Irish dramatist, short story writer and founder of the Field Day Theatre Company. 'Translations' is set in Baile Beag (Ballybeg), a Donegal village in 19th century agricultural Ireland. It was first performed at the Guildhall, Derry, Northern Ireland, on Tuesday, 23 September 1980.
