You’re lowkey a fed and I don’t really trust cops. Or security ones. And since a Revelationist kidnapped and murdered me, I doubt I can really help you with this. But back to you - why’re you doing this? Being a fake ass cop?”

"Oh shit,” Grace’s eyes scanned the face of the woman she’d heard about but had yet to meet. “You’re Heather?” She asked pointing to her. “Wow. You are really pretty. Yeah. This is gonna be...yeah.” She muttered, nodding to herself before taking a second. “I’m Grace.” She said, introducing herself officially before clearing her throat. 

“Why doesn’t she wanna come out?” There was another pause as she listened to Heather. “Uh...” She trailed off, gaze still on Heather as she scratched the back of her neck. Internally, an amused yet concerned Talia told her to calm the fuck down. “Yeah, yeah, I’ll help. Anything you need. Just um, I don’t know if she’ll want to come out for me.” Grace confessed. Last that she knew while she and Jackie were on...low grade friendly terms... she didn’t know if they were actually cool. “So this may be weird and awkward as all fuck but I’m probably gonna need your help. If that’s cool with you?”

Luna was sitting at a picnic table by herself, her eyes downcast as she was deep in thought. Her body hurt because she’d overexerted herself working out to keep her mind busy. But she also had enjoyed the pain that she could focus on rather than being so naive. She could sense someone near and she looked up sadly. “I’m not in the mood to talk today. Especially if you’re here to accuse me of being a part of some hate group.” That was the trend of the day for her, and she’d already gotten an earful from her mother who hadn’t called her in almost two years. 

"The day you’re a real member of a hate group is when pigs are gonna fly and unicorns finally come out of hiding.” Grace said in lieu of a greeting to Luna. “Now.” She started as she sat down next to her. “What can I do to get that sad ass look of that beautiful face of yours? Hmm? ‘Cause that look does not sit with me. Who do I need to beat up for you?”

“Of course I wouldn’t mind. Damn it. Okay so yes stick with me.” Alexa paused to breathe. She didn’t need to be causing hysteria. She just needed to calmly keep the people she cared about safe and everyone else. “Should you be violent no. But if I say run, Talia run as far and fast as you can away. Or hide if you can’t run. I overheard that the assholes from the warehouse thing may be crashing. So there’s a chance you should be afraid. There’s a chance we all should. But for right now, just stick with me. If I knew who I could track them, but there’s a shit ton of people here and we don’t know who is running things anymore since Vincent and the Psycho girl got themselves killed. Let’s get you some shoes and we’ll regroup. Maybe Grace heard something and went to investigate. Those were the people responsible for her death…” 

Talia nodded. “Alright, of course.” She replied, complying quickly to Alexa’s statement. Talia’s heels tightened in her grasp at Alexa’s comment to be prepared to run, if needed. Talia remembered the warehouse. It was the night that Grace’s attempt at living Talia’s life had been exposed. It was how she learned the way in which the genie who stole her existence had her own brutally ended. To say it was eye opening didn’t do it justice. “But I’m human. Do they hurt us too?”

Despite the rumblings and rumors of the Alliance, Talia never paid attention to information about them. She lived a partial life from a shared subconscious with a genie hijacking her body. What could she even do about the Alliance? “Are you...Will you be safe?” She asked, unsure of what to say exactly to Alexa. But knowing that whatever happened, she didn’t want her to get hurt. If that was even possible. At the mention of her lack of fully operating shoes, Talia looked down at her bare feet. “You’re right. Heels first, then this.” Alexa mentioning Grace’s death. An odd look covered Talia’s face. This time of her own accord. “Those people... no one should have to die like that.” She shook her head. “It’s still odd, humanizing my literal kidnapper, after all of this.”

A bubble of laughter left Talia. She was surprised at the offer. It wasn’t something she’d considered. “I’m curious now. To see how they’d look.” Talia paused, looking over the blonde. “Well, whomever you did consult about your look, did a great job. I wouldn’t have known you weren’t into fashion simply from looking. Is there an area nearby where I can make sure that a new pair of shoes is all that I need?

"I...” Talia glanced up, words losing themselves on her tongue. “No. I’m not alright.” A corner of her mouth upturned at being called that. As well as his offer. “Yes, thank you. You are quite the gentleman.” A brief grimace captured Talia’s features at having to be barefoot in formal wear at an award show. It was unbecoming. “I’d love that. But I’m not sure if I should accept. Wouldn’t it be a sight, you carrying around a strange woman? Which, I don’t think we’ve been properly introduced. I’m Talia. Talia Burton. Who are you?”

Alexa paused. She’d been walking, practically in a trance trying to process the things she had just overheard. Alexa didn’t want to insight panic. Momentarily her mind went to the woman in front of her, having lost a heel. “Talia…Yeah, Yeah. I’ve got a spare pair, but I don’t know if we’re the same shoe size. Maybe we just break the other heel. You can run faster if you’re not in heels. If something were to go wrong at one of these things, that is. Do you know if Grace is close by? How good are you at fighting?” she wondered, knowing she wasn’t making sense and as much as she wanted liberation for Talia, but right now that there might be a hate group coming, was not an ideal time to let her live her own life she could get hurt. “Stick with me tonight? Please?” she asked her holding out her arm in hopes that it didn’t seem too weird. 

A sigh of relief left Talia at the familiar face, and voice, of Grace’s roommate. It wasn’t the damned redhead. ...Thankfully. Plus, Talia actually trusted this woman. “You wouldn’t mind?” She asked, tone surprised. Moments later, Talia shook her head. “No, I can’t... I can’t see her. It’s how she possessed me the first time.” She paused, a confused expression on her features at Alexa’s question. “I’m not... No, I’m not her, Alexa. I’m not violent. Should I be?” Talia glanced around. “What’s happened?” At the invitation, she nodded wordlessly and looped her arm through Alexa’s offered one. “Of course. Should I be afraid?”

“There has to be a way for this to get bloody easier,” Talia muttered, chest heaving as feeling returned to her limbs. Glancing back down at her body, she waited as full mobility and sensation settled. “Damn it, Grace. You could’ve counted down or something.” The relationship she had with the genie had changed over time but there were still kinks that needed to be worked out. Obviously. “My heel broke-” She explained away to the onlookers that paused. Talia had practically collapsed on the floor after Grace’s departure. “Guess I shouldn’t have gotten them on sale, huh?” Talia joked as she slipped off her heels. The pair no longer matched in length. “Any idea where I could snag another pair?” She asked the nearest person.

“And mijo, you’re acting like you don’t know a body jumper that can get you a shit ton. ...That is, if you ask nicely.”

Luna had the camera on it’s tripod, standing on the x as she was playing around with it. She had the fan going and a remote in her hand to snap the photos as she stood in front of it doing test shots. She has lost track of time as she took shot after shot at different angles of herself the rare time she actually is in front of the camera. She turned slightly and saw someone there. “Oh…sorry are you here for your portrait or just to visit me? I’m just messing around testing the lighting.” 

“Actually, I was wondering-” Was said in a British accent. “If you needed some help. I haven’t taken a picture in a while and I doubt...” Talia trailed off. “Well, I’m not in the mood to correct that.” She paused. “How would you do that - test the lighting?”

Normally she’d be trying to capitalize on the gathering, talk about peace and justice, but she decided to save it for the gala and panels and just let loose during everything else. 

“This is by fucking far-” Grace began. “One of my favorite award shows this season. Twerk competition? I don’t know who planned that. But I might send them a whole ass spa treatment. I loved it.” 

“And you - Lizzo ass beating aside? Literally. You did great. Made me think some thoughts and want to see some things. If she’d have dropped out, you think you would’ve won?”

“You smash my vase and you’ll regret it,” she threatened. The whimper that Grace released spurred her on, pulling Grace closer. She pulled herself away to catch her breath, letting out an airy chuckle. “Fuck. That was…” She couldn’t describe it. Though the body wasn’t Grace’s there was this essence of Grace, this familiarity in the kiss, in the touch. “How the fuck what?” she asked, wondering what the other woman’s thought process was. “I missed you too, but less talking, less clothes, please.” Her hands tugged at Grace’s shirt. 

A chuckle shifted Talia’s chest at the threat. Graciela ignored her host’s judgement at her finding Jackie’s threat refreshing. She’d missed that also. Wisely, she didn’t retort. Not wanting to kill the vibe. The hand on the side of Jackie’s face slide to hold onto her neck instead. A faint smile upturned the corners of her lips at Jackie’s unfinished mutterings. It was nice to see this shit between them was still mutual. Chest lowering noticeably as she breathed, Grace opened her eyes and met dark brown eyes. “...How the fuck do you still feel like home?” She finished. Blue eyes rolled in good humor at Jackie tugging on her shirt. “So fucking impatient.” Grace muttered even though she felt the same. Clothes had to go. Now. She let her shirt be removed before taking off Jackie’s own tank top. “C’mere.” She pulled her closer, a hand palming Jackie’s behind as she brought Jackie in for a hard kiss.  

Grace’s other hand left Jackie’s neck to met the left as she picked Jackie up and moved them further into the living room. One perk being a genie now - she had enhanced strength. Grace also had the layout of Jackie’s place memorized. She hoped that hadn’t changed since she was last there. A faint smirk of victory when her shins hit the couch and she laid Jackie down. The body of Grace’s host followed suit quickly, leaving open mouth kisses on Jackie’s chest and her hands tugged at the woman’s shorts.

Grace didn’t even fight the smirk that curved Talia’s lips at her best friend’s words. She just shot Rocky a look from the corner of her eyes. “Shit, I was right there with you. I remember.” A huff of laughter left her. “When’s the last time you got a little reckless?” She paused. “Not...old school reckless. But just had a little fun.” Her voice pitched when she said ‘little’. She even held up her fingers for emphasis.

“Wake up, cuteness,” Dani said as she walked into her best friend’s room, flashing the other girl a smile as she leaned over the other. “I may not be waking up in bed next to you this time, but seeing that your birthday started officially 3 hours ago, get changed. We’re going to get crepes.”

With a groan and a scrunched face, Grace rolled over. “Uh uh. I love you. I do. But get your ass out.” She settled back comfortably in the sheets, faintly reminding herself to ‘talk’ to Alexa about letting Dani in, when the final parts of her best friend’s words came to her. Eyes still closed, Grace face morphed into a slowly curious expression. “...Bitch did you say crepes?” She mumbled, face smushed against the pillows. Fuck Dani for that shit. “If you loved me, you’d have brought them hoes. Naked. To my bed.” 

Grace opened her eyes, head in Dani’s direction. “...I see you’re not naked. Do I really have to get up?”

“Oh no. You weren’t supposed to see yet, but Tadah? Happy Birthday, Grace,” Isa exclaimed, with a happy smile. Only half done decorating the outside of her trailer and the bike she had gotten her sister in law when the other found her. “I hope you like it?”

Grace chuckled under her breath at the sight of the gift. “Thanks Is,” She replied, moving to wrap Isa in a hug. “Guess mijo didn’t give you the memo this year, huh?” Grace asked. Seeing as her sister-in-law gave her something for her birthday, Grace figured not. “Told him to not worry this year. A bitch is just cool with being alive this year, you know? But thanks though.” Grace’s arms fell from around Isa and she moved to see the bike. The pads of her fingertips ran over the handles as she took it in. “So what made you get this? Didn’t want me on motorcycle?”
