Not only did Fiyero ABSOLUTELY see Elphaba hiding in that tree (play it back and see the slight shake of his hand as he turns around), but he also made a point to turn his back to her and point his gun directly at his men. Why? Cause homeboy was praying that they didn’t see her while also being ready to kill anyone who dared try to lay a hand on his woman. He was ready to risk it all in that moment. That’s why his face looked scared to death (for her) but also determined.

Kinda broken thinking about how the first time Fiyero leaps into action,( wakes from sleep if you will, with the lion cub) , he asks Elphaba to come with him..thus beginning his journey of self discovery and feelings for Elphaba..

And how in his last act of defiance( before getting turned to a scarecrow), he's telling Elphaba to go , like his true journey begins with Elphaba coming with him and his journey ends with letting Elphaba go ...
