The designer´s role
The last week I was in a conference and this theme got my attention so here is my conclusion:
Which is our role as designers? Is just make things practical, esthetic or desirable? I think that to really make an impact in our society we have to do something out of the line. I wanna make an exercise, stop and think all the things that are made by a designer…ok now you can name a lot of things, but the typical is that are the most expensive things in the world, the point is that everyone think that things that are made by designers are expensive, so what is the new role of a designer?: “Design for everybody” if we really want that design rise here in Mexico we have to design for our people, for everybody. Go out and see what people need, their desires, their goals etc.
A lot of what we are doing is getting design out of the way." -
Jonathan Ive
Objects can talk, questionate and transmit
Imagine this situation: you´re leaving your home to work and then you’re out of your house and then you see a person with an umbrella, that fact makes you question “might rain today?”, “why have she an umbrella, maybe I should get one just in case” and then you return and get one. This is an example of how objects can talk, one object transmits to you a lot of things and questions.
I think that a designer CONJUNTS the emotional with the practical and cotidianity, because that is what life is EVERY DAY we are gonna wake up and do something, or do nothing, but even in nothing we are surrounded of things, objects that have A MEAN, that have a STORY, that have a PURPOSE.
This is what a mass migration of stingrays looks like. Study the creatures of the deep and become an Oceanographer.
What is trendy?
Trends are ephemeral, every minute trend is changing around the world.Trend is something that distingued a period of time and obviuosly depend of the place, city, and time that you're living.
In the last years, everyone has been talking about take care of the planet, be green, create an ecological thought.Designers has taken this trend to innovate and create new uses of the things, recycling, or creating alternatives.

It's important always do new things, think new ideas because this world sometimes is faster than ours minds, people get bored about typical, want something new, want a better version of what exist, look for what is next. So if you want to be original and the first always take a look to the future, anticipate the world.
Design to touch use and inhabit
"If is in your head is in your hand"
This quote means that all that we imagine or design in ours minds can turn into reality.
Design is everywhere, is an action, it's way to make a change , it’s a way to improve.
Design is not just in the physical, visual or estethic, also is related with the experience that an object can give to you, for example: someone is going to buy a product because the object transmites something ( feeling, emotion, etc.) In that connection was involved the physical, esthethic and the emotion that makes you buy and want a product.
In conclusion, design is a communication of thoughts that makes you use.
Why are we called industrial designers?
Really this question have to stop...always when people asks me: Hey karla what are you studing? I say “industrial design” and then they say “Wow cool…what is that” and I’m was like “Forget it” -.-
The fact is that actually the title of “industrial design “ is very complicated, since the last century there has been this controversy about what exactly we do? Why are we called industrial designers and not just designers or artists? The term “Industrial” make some noise in our head because when we listen “industrial” we think that is related with machines or a big production but not yet. We are called industrial designers because we are involucrate in the industrial process: engineering, marketing and manufacturing process.
In conclusion an industrial designer optimize the function, value and the appearance of products and systems for the mutual benefit of both user

But first... DESIGN
IT'S SIMPLE
Is in your hands is that out of design, the creativity, innovation and the mind we make a change. // Está en tus manos: por medio del diseño, la creatividad, la innovación, el pensamiento creamos el cambio.
Design your life.....is in your hands // Diseña tu vida... esta en tus manos
