Person B making a deal to save Person A’s life at the cost of all their memories together.
WHO GAVE YOU THE FUCKING RIGHT
She didn’t remember being this much of a spoiled brat when she was a kid. Wow did she feel embarrassed now.
"You should not speak with such venom." a simple statement as she just stared at the young girl.
' i will do so to anyone who thinks they can freely order me about, actually. ' and a single hand raised to brush loose strands of hair from her face, eyebrows over tired eyes raised. ' venom usually does kill the rats. now, if you'll excuse me—- i don't believe the saying about not talking to strangers should go to waste, now. '
"Peasant. You should know very well I am no peasant you brat. Treat me with repect."
' and when, pray tell, did i ever owe you a kindness? the only thing i very well know as of this moment is that there is a stupid woman acting as a thorn in my side rather than doing herself the pleasure of getting out of my sight.
you are in no position at all to demand a thing of me, you absolute worm. '
"Don’t give me that look." Caitlin crossed her arms, studying… herself.
' you are in no place to order me around, you daft peasant. '
"don’t even ask."
' —- hmph... perhaps i won't. '
' ... what on earth is a —- what. '
Gods, she was freezing
The male tensed slightly as she took hold, only to loosen as her face was pressed against him. Poor thing. The girl didn’t look much younger, but seemed far more helpless than anyone he came across in his travels. Even her Pokemon was helpless to assist against the elements, it seemed, noticing the small tuff tucked away.
A voice, small, caught his attention, quirking a brow in response. Did she just say to…carry her?
Pausing to consider, it was obvious he couldn’t exactly say no. Not without looking like an utter ass. Grimsley did come over to help, didn’t he? If he refused, he would leave, which beat the purpose of getting wet in the first place.
It was too cold to argue with himself.
"Well, you did say please,” he kid. Perhaps a light humor would lesson the downpour, hmn? The gambler placed his jacket over the girl’s head, nestling the sleeves around to the font of her in a half attempt to keep it in place. One arm moving for her back and the other for her legs, he whispered a quick, “Hold tight” before attempting to lift.
She was light. Frail. Almost as if he found a doll in the street. Ignoring the distant clap of thunder, he turned on his heel, pace brisk as he retreated back towards the center.
if the unforgiving stars could save a man now, they certainly had their hesitation going for them. because it's not that act of kindness that may set apart a sinner from his peers, but such that set him apart from just that—- his sins. it radiated off of him, caitlin could feel it now. warmth, not from his body but the heart, the kindness that he drops in careful doses when they count. one would walk with their red shoes on for the sake of another kind of kindness, one would forsake themself for that of another kind of kindness.
caitlin knows this now, with her head tucked securely into his chest, his heartbeat rapid against her cheek, fingers trembling a grip into his damp clothes. from the aura to his actions, he is a kind man.
he is not darach.
but he is almost, quite darach.
with a still shaken hand raised, the heiress poked her face out from under the man's coat, eyes notably puffy and red —- to all but she, who had long forgotten the feeling of true tears. what was near but a stray garbage can lid? it seemed to have been left behind, and the aggressive pitter-patter of rain against it screamed for her attention.
and so, with the powers she now dreads, caitlin brought it closer. closer. close enough that it wafted over the stranger's head, noisily shielding him from the rain yet to com as he ran.
did it do much? no; but she did owe him a little kindness.

The direction she
states is bold. It left Thorton with the initiative so common, it’s almost routine. A palm of fingers collapse around Caitlin’s hand. The embrace of fingers tie together and hold a certain strength. Not too strong, yet possessive in quiet pulses.
A pair of hems and haws halt before they touch sublime air. The optics he possesses are big and blue alike the moon that sits atop a painted sky when night dawns on the region. But there’s a certain clamour building that doesn’t aggravate until news no ears want to carry. Those orbs he maintains jostle gently, when her words strike him.
Even the fingers he uses to caress the top of her hand tremble and his face crumbles like pastries.
❛ … Caitlin… ❜
His throat can’t nearly support a swallow as his eyes shift. They befall the ground near their feet whereas tears threaten to meet that place.
❛ You want me to… tell the others. I… H-How can you tell me with and not expect me to act as I may? D-Did you not think that maybe you should’ve told me… m-me sooner? ❜
' ... mmm. '
ever so slightly quivering lips then part, head tilted, ear to shoulder and lashes flickering up for her own eyes to come upon his. truly, the aura that cloaked him was a darkening one, moreso than caitlin herself could have anticipated —- but it was endearing, all the same.
and so, feet swinging idly above the floor, the heiress came to close the unneeded space between she and thorton, chin resting carefully upon his shoulder and arms ( so delicately, as fearing he may break ) wrapped around his torso.
' i... i apologize. but i have just decided last night. if it is too much for you, i could pass it along to the others myself, but---- not darach. '
her grip tightens, if just by a bit, her pink shoes slowly ( but surely ) coming to touch the ground once more.
' ... i have never harmed him with my powers before, but the other day... i just couldn't calm down. i—-- i need to leave... and find a way to control it... i'm sorry, thorty, but i'm beginning to feel like i'm some sort of monster. '
desoque said: Not quite. I wish to speak with you.

❛ O-Oh… I see.
What seems to be the matter? You don’t appear frazzled! That’s good…❜
( O-Or maybe she is and I just can’t read her well… )
' i have told none, not even my valet as of yet, and i require you to relay the news to the rest of the brains. '
and with steps faltering above the ground, the young psychic flutters over to her dear friend, slowly dropping a hand in his vicinity for he ( and only he ) to take ahold of.
' ——-i am leaving this region, and very, very soon at that. and i shall not return for a very long time, if, at all.
i felt as though it would have been easiest to tell you before the others. '
' ... it's far too cold out here... '
’ here. ‘
and he hands her the piece of soft pink fabric.
' ... sorry ---- one more thing? could you possibly... tie it for me? '
desoque
’ excuse me — i think you dropped this. ‘
' ----is that my bow? ah, i did. give it here '
"My… name? I totally forgot to introduce myself, didn’t I?"
{ She smiles (genuinely, if a bit flustered with herself,) and sticks out a hand to shake one of hers. }
"My name is Crystal, and we can definitely keep in touch! If you need help learning how to capture Pokemon for your journey, I could give you some useful tips as well. That’s— heh. Kind of my specialty.
Really though, I’m just glad that I could help you out, miss—?”
' ...you have a very pretty name, crystal! '
crystal. crystal! what a lovely word on her tongue--- smooth flowing, beautiful yet simple. oh, how wonderful it was to learn all these names that people could have. it was such a shame that she usually never caught the name of the workers back home; maybe they had lovely names themselves.
' i am---- ' no, not lady caitlin, is she? not outside the castle, anyway.
' ----excuse me. my name is caitlin. i'm sure you're the best catcher around, if someone so helpful and kind such as yourself were to pursue it! i shall only hope to be able to report good news to you, once i am to properly care for this dear treasure you have given me. '
being a kind person was surprisingly easy.
and it felt good, not to mention!
The rain was f r e e z i n g.
For a land known for it’s moderate climates, the weather trio…or whatever the locals called them, were unforgiving monsters in the young man’s mind. Clothes clung as the wind willed it. How he wanted nothing more than to hide away.
At least his Pokemon could, nestled in their capsules, shaking with the gusts. Grace especially. Poor girl faced enough weather for a lifetime.
Grace and poise seemed to agree, Grim catching sight of the petite female from his shelter under the Pokemon center arch. Caught in the storm too. Almost pitiful…. …..Very pitiful………
God damn it. Slipping his jacket off his shoulder, he stepped into the torrent, making his way over as fast as he could to shield her, making a makeshift umbrella over her. “C-center’s open,” he suggested, raising his voice over the sound of the rain’s pounding, “dry and warm, yeah?”
everything was just going wrong.
maybe it was karma finally coming to get her. for all those workers caitlin had caused harm to over the years, all the maids and butlers quitting their finely paying jobs to get away from she, the demon child above all others. just barely a month or two after leaving, and not only did she lose her bags --- her favorite stuffed lamb, now somewhere at the bottom of a river --- but also her pokegear, all the money she had on hand. the only things left---?
a few credit cards, not a single atm in sight.
the clothes she wore now, rough, torn and battered at all ends.
and buneary, tucked protectively beneath her chin.
the rain only made matters worse, and it seemed all was at a loss for the young psychic---- until the little bunny's ears perked in alarm, and a dark cloth of some sort had shielded them both from the pounding rain once again.
a strange man, just a little older than she, but he looks... a lot like darach. even dressed like him too, didn't he---? a person who is fanciful, who is kind and just---- it was only for a moment, but caitlin already trusted him.
keeping a tight hold on buneary with one arm, her petite hand latches on to the stranger's sleeve, face burning and buried into the fabric of his shirt. yes, that seemed like a good idea... but she's shaking too badly to do anything right now; her fingers must have been ice cold.
' ...c-carry me... please. '
