The bright atmosphere suits the lazy, beatific smile that tilts the edge of his lips; but the sunlight seems too harsh against the pallor of his skin, against the thick material of the jacket slung around his thin shoulders. Komaeda enjoys the sense of euphoria that hangs in the air, even if he can tell just as well as anyone that it's shallow. Something's not quite right here, but as a part of the park they're all trapped inside, that's hardly a surprise.
He has yet to consider his options about that; few as they are. Instead, he's taking his time, growing accustomed, letting things sink in. It would be unwise, he thinks, to jump to conclusions or hatch poorly-conducted schemes for escape. He isn't one for inadequate planning.
It's less urgent for now, though, so he takes his time surveying the parts of the park he has yet to venture to. Julia's Kingdom is at the top of his list, and from the aroma of baking bread and fresh fruit, he's glad for it. Komaeda is sure he'll find something more unsettling if he decides to investigate, because that's just how things are here, but for now he's content to amble from stall to stall.
That is, until a figure catches his eye -- tall and exceptionally dark, with hair black as pitch that reaches the ground. An odd character, for sure, and he can't help but want to get a closer look.
Nevertheless, he decides not to take the direct approach, and simply moves to stand next to the other boy, crossing his arms and giving a soft, thoughtful hum. "This is a pleasant place, don't you think? Certainly the most... ah, cheerful the park has to offer, at least."
He turns to glance, and gives a slight pause -- "You look a little familiar." Can't be sure of what brings him to say that; something about the shape of his face, the set of his brow... but he can't quite place it, at least not yet. Perhaps he just doesn't feel like having another (albeit smaller) mystery to solve at this point. "Aha, nevermind, probably just wishful thinking on my part! Stuck in a place like this, you're always hoping for someone you know to pop up."
