Atlas Coffee Embassy

Few days ago, my friend and I went to the Atlas Coffee Embassy which located at Mount Austin. Upon I entered to the cafe, I was very surprised by the clean design of the place. Although it is simplicity, it was vividly different from the other cafes that I have been to. This place looks bright and the seats are comfortable.

Atlas Coffee Embassy is highly recommended as one of the great places to enjoy an American breakfast and coffee. To be honest, we were attracted by the food photos posted by netizens and visited the cafe without knowing the taste of the food.

Their menus are written on a piece of Kraft paper which is simple, low-cost but practical. In addition to the all-day breakfast, the café also serves salads, waffles, pancakes, soups and snacks, all written on kraft paper. This cute little menu is dedicated to Atlas Specialty Breakfast, and we pick a few selections of the food to be served on the plate at the price we choose. After reading the menu, we decided to order the Chocolate Banana Waffle.

Chocolate Banana Waffle RM18.90

Deliciousness: 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

We ordered this Chocolate Banana Waffle served with chocolate flavoured ice cream, chocolate syrup; and served with some fruits such as banana, strawberries and blueberries. The waffle is very crispy, taste the waffle together with chocolate ice cream and fruits together is a different flavour, and it was match perfectly!

Overall, this is a great place for breakfast or high tea. Even if you are alone, Atlas Coffee Embassy still has a good and quiet environment for you to enjoy a good cup of coffee and spend a good afternoon. The experience at the cafe is sweet, and I will definitely visit the cafe again in the future!

Miyakori Café

Miyakori Coffee, a Japanese theme coffee and desserts café located at Bukit Indah with cute theme interior design and menu, was established since 2013.  They aim to provide diners with “A Taste Of Happiness!”

The simple, white background with the use of wood furniture makes this place very cozy yet chic place to have your time spent here. The cute Japanese cartoons (rabbit and grumpy bear), which I have not sure if there is a name for it, really helps to bring the inner child in me. I believe that this place will definitely be a popular hangout place especially for girls, since many of us like pretty and cute stuff.

The café do not just decorate the place with the cartoon, they also infused the food with them too. It makes it just irresistible to not order and to eat after ordering.

Oreo Cheesecake (RM12.90)

Deliciousness: 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑

The cake tends to be harder than normal. But we love how the fact that cheesecake was not overly sweet. Oreo and cheesecakes were placed in layers so that one can have a taste of both worlds in every bite.

Chocolate Mousse Brownies (RM10.90)

Rich chocolate brownie coupled with a cup of hot latte makes it a perfect match especially under a cold weather. The brownie leaves no chocolate lover in want with its rich and dark aftertaste.

Cotton Cheese Cake (RM13.90)

Deliciousness: 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

There was a display cakes showcase at the side of the counter. We order the cotton cheese cake with their logo stamped in the middle. The cheesecake was light, fluffy and soft. I would recommend this to go with a cup of coffee or tea.

Overall, the environment of the cafe was good and I felt comfortable spending time in that place.

gCafe

gCafe is located in Mount Austin and it is nearby Sunway College Johor Bahru. A cozy cafe which feels warm and just like home, gCafe Mount Austin is one such cafe offering a very homely and comfortable place to spend time while enjoying your dessert. The environment is really cozy and relaxing. Service are good and place really clean. The mural on the wall has bears in different coats.

This cafe has two levels, the first level was already spacious enough. There is also have a dining place available for people who like to have any gathering or party. In the upstairs of gCafe, there are also clusters of heavy plush sofas and stylish chairs for customers to enjoy their high tea. We love how their seats in the café. Those big royal type of seats that make u so comfortable while enjoying your desserts.

Inside gCafe, the decor is simple yet elegant with groups of luxurious inviting arm chairs.

The cafe serves a wide variety of western foods, desserts and cakes. It is presented in a very detailed meticulous way and simply tastes awesome. Sunway College's students are entitled for an additional 20% off while dining in gCafe.

Yogurt Charcoal Waffle (RM17.90)

Deliciousness: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Yogurt Charcoal Waffle is one of their signature dessert. This waffle is served with fresh strawberries and blueberries on top of the yogurt and surrounded with fresh bananas. From the appearance, the waffle looked exquisite and very enticing. The taste of the charcoal waffle was pretty good, moderately crisply on the outside, moist and spongy inside. Crispy waffles serve with yogurt as well as smooth sour sweet strawberries and blueberries is a perfect combination.

Tiramisu (RM13.90)

Deliciousness: 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

gCafe tiramisu is like a very fluffy, light, mocha flavoured cream cheese mousse with a nip of espresso and liqueur and an after bite of chocolate. Tiramisu is an elegant treat that’s not too sweet or too filling. It has a creamy and yogurt-like texture, with mild coffee flavour. I think I preferred those ice-cream like texture more.

Oreo Cheesecake (RM13.90)

Deliciousness: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

The Oreo cheesecake is quite nice, as you can never go wrong with Oreo, the sweet crunchy biscuits with relatively mild cream cheese. The texture on top is soft and crispy below with the Oreo biscuit at the base. Overall, it is worth a try as it is awesome in both taste and texture.

Lemon Cheesecake (RM12.90)

Lemon cheesecake is considered as our favourite dessert for the day, the tangy and sweet flavour with creamy texture. When you taste it, it gives you a touch of lemon taste. We really love this lemon cheesecake as it gives a clean and light taste. We will definitely order this once again for our next visit!

JWC - Just Want Coffee, The Factory 30

JWC (Just Want Coffee), The Factory 30 is said to be one of the best coffee spots in Johor Bahru. JWC cafe was a unique cafe which is located inside a former factory in an industrial area and you’ll need to drive past car workshops and large factories and warehouses before getting to your destination. It was inside a refurbished factory in the industrial area of Mount Austin surrounded by large warehouses and greasy car workshops. You definitely have to use Google Maps to locate this outlet. Just Want Coffee, The Factory 30, as the name suggests, is a refurbished factory thus it is surrounded by run-down buildings and containers. The main entrance is the glass door on the left.

This cafe gets a good reputation based on their good service. Therefore, the seat of the restaurant almost full during the time of the night (9.00 pm - 12.00 pm). The cafe’s atmosphere at night is a suitable place for tea chatting and friends gathering. The dining area has two floors. The ground floor has a bar too experience for coffee and baristas to show off their skills. The interior of Just Want Coffee (JWC) is very cozy and spacious. Under the cozy lights and air conditioning environment, this place make it so comfortable to chill out especially over a hot weather outside.

The decor is fashioned to look like a warehouse, giving you that hip, industrial feel. As you look up and you’ll see all these gunny sacks hanging from the ceiling. The difference of JWC cafe and others is interior decoration with many gunny bags hanging on the ceiling and showing theme of the cafe. Don’t worry about them falling down on your desserts, as they are only stuffed with shredded papers.

To us, the "Customer Menual" is designed to be more like a technical instruction Menu to operate machines instead. Of course, there are pages with their food menu in the mixture of the technical information. The food menu was a rather retro and rustic looking paper "magazine". It had advertisements showing how coffee is made and the different types of coffee machines available.

JWC roasts their coffee beans. We can tell that they’re very particular about the quality of their coffee, as they source for the best coffee beans and roast everything in-house, something very unique about The Factory 30.

Signature Tiramisu (RM 15.90)

Deliciousness: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗

This is one of the best tiramisu we’ve tasted so far coated with cocoa powder. 3 kinds of wine are needed to make this tiramisu. Classic tiramisu with spongy liquor and coffee-soaked ladyfingers between rich mascarpone custard and whipped cream. The Tiramisu was really unique as it was served cold and also frozen-liked. It felt like eating ice cream! Once you put it in your mouth, it melted like ice-cream. Must definitely order their tiramisu as it is amazing!

Tofu Cheese Cake (RM 9.90)

Deliciousness: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

The Tofu cheese cake is very soft and it is very delicious. Texture of cake as described was really silky like Tofu and melts thoroughly in your mouth. A contrast of light Tofu cheese cake is made of 70%-cocoa chocolate mousse with a dark chocolate glaze and supported by a thin layer of biscuit as its base. The cheese cake is full of the sensation of cheese and highly recommended to cheesy lovers.

Mix Berries Waffle (RM 18.90)

We ordered another dessert which is mix berries waffle. This waffle serves with creamy strawberry ice cream topped with delightful berries. Crispy waffles serve with ice cream as well as smooth sour sweet strawberries and blueberries is a perfect combination. This waffle was fluffy and eat it while is hot. They're super crisp on the outside and fluffy and cakey! It had a strong fragrant aroma of a freshly baked cake.

Overall, we really like their innovative concept of transforming a ramshackle factory into a cafe, which deviates from the norm in Johor Bahru cafe scene. It is one of the must-visits in Johor Bahru. Great atmosphere, awesome waffles, cakes, coffee and really attentive staff, we were asked repeatedly by different staff on the feedback on our food and drinks! If you’re are looking for a hangout place that serves good coffee in Johor Bahru, this is it.

Creamery Boutique Ice-Cream JB located at Mount Austin is where sweet tooth craving is fulfilled. The origin of this dessert shop is from Bangkok and it has been opened a lot of outlets in Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur. They tried to set up an outlet in Singapore being their latest venture. Creamery is a revolutionary ice-cream that serves premium homemade ice-cream with a passion. 

Creamery Boutique Ice-Cream JB is well-known for their lava cookies. It is one of the cafés not to miss as they serve oozing lava cookies from Thailand. They focus on small-batch premium homemade production to maintain the exceptional quality of their ice-creams. It was said that all their recipes are original, exclusive and personally developed to include a unique Creamery twist. Creamery sells their handmade cookies to attract more dessert lovers.

The signature of Creamery which is basically served the lava cookies in the pot with a scoop of ice-cream on top of the cookies. If you are the first time here, check out their huge signboard next to the ice-cream display. To order, you may choose whether normal scoops or want it to come with brownie or lava. For example, Red Velvet, Matcha Lava, Brownie, and Choco Lava. Their signature cookies are Matcha Lava and Choco Lava.

Moreover, they also provide a variety of ice-cream flavour as Mix Berry Cheese, Baby Milk, Chocolate, Green Tea and so on. It is free to test the ice-cream before choosing a scoop of ice-cream out of their 12 choices. Orders and payments are made at the counter and the staff will deliver it. To maintain the authenticity, the recipe that all outlets using are totally similar to Bangkok.

Even though they are more emphasized on ice-cream, they also provide the mineral water in order to let the customer quench their thirst. The brownie and lavas are cooked on the spot so you can enjoy the fresh and warm oozing lavas! We waited for like 5 minutes or so, here is our ice cream lavas!

Brownie cookies & Baby Milk ice cream (RM16.90)

Deliciousness: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗 

We picked the brownie cookie with one scoop of baby milk ice-cream at RM16.90. We were surprised to see our dessert being served on a saucepan with our favourite ice-cream topped on the hot pan-fried brownie cookie. Scooping some ice-cream and a chunk of cookie from the pan and savour the sweetness on our palate was simply awesome! A bit of chill from the ice-cream, and a bit of warmth from the cookie tantalized our taste bud. We were quite satisfied with the perfect match of the brownie cookie and baby milk ice-cream.

Matcha lava cookies & Thai Tea ice cream (RM16.90)  

Deliciousness: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

We ordered the matcha lava cookie with Thai tea ice-cream. The moment the scoop of ice cream falls on top of the soft cookie, the lava ooze out beautifully and penetrated with the ice-cream. That’s when everyone went ‘WOW’. The rich matcha lava is mildly bitter, which we thought didn’t go too well with the Thai tea ice-cream. Thai ice cream is not bad either as the tea taste in it is strong. It is quite a good match! If you are a matcha lover, we strongly recommend you come and try this matcha lava cookie!!

Overall, we really love the combination of lava cookie and ice-cream and they have become one of our favourite! We hope that they will maintain their current quality and keep on innovating more new ice-cream flavours and cookie flavour.

Just Want Coffee (JWC) The Bear And Fish

Are you tired of the hustle and bustle of life? On weekends, you may want to find a specialty coffee shop, listen to music, flip through magazines, and order aroma coffee to precipitate your mood. Taman Sutera Utama is another part of Johor Bahru with shop houses filled with restaurants and cafes, and it’s not hard to find the “Just Want Coffee – The Bear and Fish”. The appearance is filled with a warm youthful atmosphere, and people can't help but feel like they want to get into it.

The Bear and Fish is another concept under Just Want Coffee. The huge space combines both indoor and outdoor seating area, with a bar counter where you can witness the barista making coffee. 

The menu is quite extensive and they also have speciality drinks that are only available in this outlet.

The bear & fish is inspiration from Chinese proverb "one cannot both fish and bear's paw". Bear represents daytime and coffee, fish represent night and alcoholic drink.

Butter Caramel Waffles (RM16.90)

Deliciousness: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

The taste of this waffle was not at all what we had expected. Instead of being crisp, light and airy, the texture was that of chewy dough. Waffle itself is delicious enough and not too sweet. The ice-cream is quite standard tasting while the caramel and butter are very good and not too sweet. Quite decent overall.

Flaming Brownie (RM15)

Just Want Coffee recommended specialty is the “flaming brownie” with its slight aroma of vodka. It is served with ice-cream and is performed in front of customers. That’s right, there is really a fire with the flaming brownie. It is so suitable for consumers who enjoy visual effects. Brownie won’t taste so cloying, with a slight aroma of vodka and vanilla ice cream is the best.

Overall, Just Want Coffee has many branches in Johor Bahru, but many branches have different themes. The interior design is spacious and bright and let us feel relax. The appearance of the food is beautiful and the taste is also very good.

Midori Concept Hotel (White Heaven)

Midori Concept Hotel is located at Mount Austin, Johor Bahru. Besides providing various types of beautiful and comfortable room, they also own a café which calls White Heaven on the ground floor of the hotel. The interior of the hotel is so beautiful where they are decorated in modern and unique design.

Have you tried to have afternoon tea in the green cafe? White Heaven is the café of the Midori Concept Hotel. The entire café is decorated with flowers and plants, and the roof of the hotel's translucent design allows the café to sprinkle with beautiful natural light. Customers can temporarily abandon the annoying city life, bathe in the warm sunshine and enjoy a leisurely afternoon tea in an environment surrounded by nature.

There are various types of tea that you can choose such as Strawberry fruit Tea, Tropicana fruit Tea, Rose Tea and Earl Grey Tea. Today we choose Blueberry fruit Tea to enjoy the high tea. The Queens’s Cottage Tea Set includes macaroon, baguette, short cake, tarts and puff.

The lemon flavour tart is my favourite because its taste is not too sweet. The puff is in chocolate flavour. These magical little puffs are light, crisp and rich all at the same time. The orange macaroon filled with orange curd, marmalade, and butter creams that almost melts in the mouth. If you love mint candy, ice cream, or any other form, you will love this mint and chocolate flavour cake. It is so delicious at all.

Overall, the whole dessert is a bit too sweet for us. But the environment of the cafe was good and I felt comfortable spending time in that place.

UFB - Union Fashion Bar Balcony

Union Fashion Bar Balcony was a restaurant during the day; and at night it turned into a UFB Balcony and turned into a rooftop bar. It is a good place for us to introduce to everyone today.

Not only the environment beautiful, but the rooftops also have beautiful scenery, not to mention the delicious food!

I like the environment of UFB very much. The place is spacious and comfortable when open the door.

This little corner is best for coffee and reading a book.

There is always a dazzling array of cakes to choose from.

Valrhona Chocolate Lava Cake served with vanilla ice cream, orange confit and seasonal mixed berries.

Get this lava cake, be sure to let the chocolate flow out. When it served, we immediately cut it out and wanted to let the chocolate be beautiful and flow out. It tastes good together the Valrhona Chocolate Lava Cake with vanilla ice cream. In addition, taste the Valrhona Chocolate Lava Cake together with orange confit and seasonal mixed berries is a different flavour.

The Valrhona Chocolate Lava Cake is full of plentiful layers and it taste rich, the seasonal mixed berries and chocolate are match perfectly! Taste the hot chocolate sauce with a little crispy cake and seasonal mixed berries tastes great and won’t be too sweet and full of flavour.

Classic Waffle (Vanilla / Chocolate) RM13.90

We ordered this classic waffle served with vanilla flavoured ice cream, which looks simple from the menu, but it was surprised us when it was served. Waffle was a big piece, which compared to the photos on the menu.

The waffle is home-made UFB waffle and vanilla ice cream served with strawberry coulis. The waffle is very crispy, taste the waffle together with vanilla ice cream and strawberry coulis is a different flavour, and it was match perfectly!

Overall, although the price is relatively high, but we are very satisfied as it has a good taste.

Mount Austin is one of the central place of cafe and desserts. Tastea become one of the member in Taman Mount Austin in March 2016. Tastea is a café with simple, elegant, British style.

Tastea have a wide selection of foods, tastes delicious and healthy. Their environment is high quality and definitely a good place to have a high tea. Just like what they write on the signboard, they focus on brunch, pasta and tea.

Crispy Waffles with Strawberry Ice Cream-RM18.90

Matcha Lava Cake with Green Tea Ice Cream-RM20.90

For the Lava Cake series, they have two types of flavours which are Chocolate and Matcha Lava Cake.

Matcha Lava Cake with Green Tea Ice Cream served with berries and green tea ice cream. Get this lava cake, be sure to let the matcha flow out. We immediately cut it out and wanted to let the matcha be beautiful and flow out. As a result, the skill is too shallow and ugly.

The Matcha Lava Cake with Green Tea Ice Cream is full of plentiful layers and it taste rich. The hot matcha sauce plus a little crispy cake tastes great and won’t be too sweet and full of flavour.

My favourite drink in Tastea is Mocktails. It can find a new way to quench your thirst. These non-alcoholic mocktails will give you a refreshing after taste, just like their colourful look.

PassionFood Cafe & Bakery

PassionFood Cafe and Bakery is often regarded as the “pink cafe” located at Taman Pelangi. Other than carrying out business in normal shop lots, they have chosen to have converted bungalow/ semi detached house as their place of business, and this is exactly the prevalent trend in Jalan Serampang. 

At Passionfood Cafe and Bakery, the word ”PASSIONFOOD” means the food here is made with passion. The atmosphere here is good. It is a comfort and cozy place that we can spend our whole day with friends and family. Strongly recommend for pink lover to visit the cafe! 

Entering the cafe, you will first glare at the row of delectable desserts and pastries that caught your attention to look at the desserts first before finding a seat. They put a homey decorations around the shop. You can find artificial fondant cake decorations which provides an idea for you to order cakes here during special occasions.

PassionFood offers variety of french cuisines. They offer macaroons, cupcakes, pastries and cakes too. Their dessert are all made in-house and not outsourced. They are quite creative in their macaroon's decoration. They decorate it with cartoon characters such as Disney, Doraemon, Pokemon, Marvels and Sanrio characters.

70% Dark Chocolate Volcanic Lava (RM 22.80)

First of all, we ordered its signature chocolate volcanic lava cake. The top part consists of dark chocolate cake filled with dark chocolate lava sitting on top of a crispy butter cookie. The inside part has a premium vanilla ice-cream, there is a strawberry on top of the ice-cream, and the ice-cream is surrounded with pudding cubes, bananas, and crunchy crunched Oreos. When we cut through the lava cake, the chocolate lava oozed out immediately, and at the same time the vanilla ice-cream was filled with chocolate lava. The lava cake itself tasted slightly bitter because it consists of 70% dark chocolate, but overall with the combination of chocolate lava and vanilla ice-cream, we were satisfied with the overall outcome.

Strawberry Paradise (RM 13.90)

An innovative combination of pie and sponge cake gives you this dessert. The cake has a pie layer, baked almond cream layer, custard with strawberries and sponge cake topped with fresh strawberries and blueberries. The taste for custard and pie is not too sweet and satisfied our liking. We’ll recommend sharing this with a friend as it is quite a big slice. Overall, this cafe offers tantalizing and divine desserts and french cuisines. Their food and desserts are value for money.

Local cafes are quickly popping up throughout the city. I like to use my free time to explore the most suitable café in Johor Bahru with my friends, and to have a relax weekend. In addition to a self-supporting café, many local catering brands in Johor Bahru are worthy of our attention, SDS Bakery & Cafeteria is a very good example.

Maybe it is a bread brands for you when you are children and when you grow up. Or maybe it is a great place for you to have a weekend meal with your family. Recently, SDS Bakery & Cafeteria has also been continuously updated, and it has transformed from a family-style restaurant into a young and dynamic fashion cafe.

The decoration is designed to give a comfortable feel, with a simple black and white colour, combined with natural wood colour, with a small fresh feeling in the chic. The first dessert that we have tried is Royal Belgium. The bottom chocolate sponge cake has a thick, dense taste like Brownie, which matches the mousse on the top. The crispy taste of the chocolate layer and the bitterness taste are also great. But the bitterness taste of chocolate may not be acceptable by children. The price is reasonable for this quality of dessert.

Summer Mango RM6.60

Summer Mango is a cake full with aroma of mango, which is suitable for children as it is not sour. Top of the Summer Mango cake is a mango mousse, and inside of the cake gives us different tastes as it has several different slices. Every time you taste it, it gives you a touch of mango aroma and a different taste. The price is reasonable for this quality of dessert.

Overall, we are very satisfied as the taste of this cake is very delicious, and the cake is soft and fluffy, it is completely value for money.

My Liberica

My Liberica is a boutique café. When you step into the cafe, you will smell the strong aroma of coffee. The coffee lovers can't miss it! My Liberica has a lot of branches in Johor Bahru, however, the branch that we went to is Kulai branch. When we push the glass door and walk into the café, we smell the coffee aroma instantly and feel stress reliever.

After that, the waiter welcomes us and ready to take us to the seat. The seating area here can be basically divided into two large blocks: indoor cold air zone and semi-outdoor smoking zone. The decoration of My Liberica cafe with a lots of glass windows, wooden furniture and plants. Under the natural light and indoor lighting, it gives us a comfortable environment to have a high tea there.

The waiter provides us the menu and also served the warm water for us. It is really a good service. We thought that it was just plain boiled water, but after we took a sip to be surprised. Wow! It is warm water with lemon juice! It's not just free, it's also an unlimited amount of refills! In addition to selling coffee, My Liberica cafe also sells non-coffee drinks and light food and desserts. And today we are going to share with everyone Panoffee Waffle - Vanilla Ice Cream.

Panoffee Waffle - Vanilla Ice Cream RM18.90

This Panoffee Waffle - Vanilla Ice Cream is served with one scoop of vanilla ice-cream and banana slices, there are also panoffee syrups in a circle and sprinkled with powdered sugar mixed with oatmeal, nuts and raisins. When all the food mix to eat together, it tastes great!

Overall, we are satisfied as it has a good taste and it gives us a comfortable environment to have a high tea there.

Dae Bap Korean Home Meal is a casual Korean restaurant that offers cheap and affordable Korean cuisine with local fare. The restaurant is owned by locals, in which explains the affordable pricing to cater to locals. It is located at Mount Austin. Dae Bap has a wide variety of Korean food with reasonable price.

If you prefer something cheap and filling, give this place a try. Although the Korean fare is not so authentic in flavour, the price offered indeed helps to boost the business. Dae Bap also offers set meals at an affordable pricing which caters to workers and students around Mount Austin.

Peach & Passion Fruit Yogurt Parfait (RM10.40)

Yogurt parfait is delicious for a dessert, snack and even for a breakfast. This Peach and passion fruit yogurt parfait look great in the glass. Fresh and creamy yogurt parfait with peach, passion fruit compote and crunchy almond granola is delicious.  It is absolutely incredible. They cook the peaches under medium-low heat to help make them tender and caramelize their flavor. Although this yogurt parfait is a dessert, it will not be burdened after eating.

Overall, we are satisfied with the dessert here. It was a nice experience at Dae Bap Korean Home Meal.

The Hare by Sugar On Top

Sugar On Top (SOT) has another new theme cafe called The Hare at Taman Mount Austin. The Hare by Sugar on Top is a simplistic theme cafe. It was the second branch which crafted by Sugar on Top located at Taman Pelangi. They have been aggressively expanding their outlet around Johor Bahru. 

The Hare by Sugar on Top were designed in white dreamy wall surrounded by artificial sunflowers decorations outside the cafe. It can be easy identified with a large hare art on the wall at the outside of cafe. The design of this cafe is very windy and relaxing because the appearance is surrounded by a row of sunflowers. It has the garden feel. 

Signature SOT Charcoal Waffles (RM 17.90)

Since SOT Charcoal Waffles is their signature dessert, it is something we MUST try! From the appearance, the waffle looked exquisite and very enticing. The taste of the charcoal waffle was pretty good, moderately crisply on the outside, moist and spongy inside. The waffles were slightly denser than others, comes with spreads of sauce, healthy fruits, and ice-cream. Ice-cream with waffles is always a perfect combination.

Hokkaido Matcha Cake (RM 16.90)

We also ordered their signature Hokkaido Matcha Cake for sweet treats. It is a warm matcha lava cake served with ice-cream and berries. Hokkaido Matcha Hotcake exceeded our expectation. We really love this and would recommend non-matcha fan should try it too. As we cut through the hotcake, the matcha oozed out immediately. It’s really yummy! The hotcake itself tasted slightly bitter but the lava has a rich flavour to enhance the overall sweetness.They also have another flavour which is the English Earl Grey Hotcake which we have yet to try. 

This dessert more special than SOT Charcoal Waffles because it comes with warm matcha lava oozy. It’s really enticing and yummy!

Classic Churros (RM 12.90)

Classic Churros is a fried-dough pastry dessert. It’s very crunchy outside and fluffy inside. This dish is not very sweet and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a special sauce. Warmly churros stained with the cold ice cream comes out of a marvelous taste. Overall, it was a good place to have dessert and chill. If you’re looking for a place with a delicious dessert, The Hare by Sugar on Top is the perfect place for relaxing and enjoyment.

Opened by two sisters who have a passion for Japanese French patisseries, the café serves enticing homemade French pastries and desserts. The café is located near AEON Bukit Indah Shopping Centre and Miyakori Café. Within 10 minutes car drive, you will reach Sorella Café.

The Sorella Cafe in Bukit Indah is a sister-run café that specializes in 100% handmade Japanese style desserts and cakes. It is said that the store has rich experience in making overseas dessert. By blending French dessert into Japanese style, the tart dessert here has a different flavour, and the exquisite appearance is also delicate, and the taste is not inferior. They offer variety of Japanese and French-inspired pastries and dessert and all of them are hand-crafted by their own patissier.

Sorella's products are all from the hands of the patissier in the store. The patissier listens to the suggestions of the guests, constantly improves and strives for innovation. Every small and exquisite cake here is the brainchild of the patissier. It is no wonder that every cake looks like especially delicious.

At the front of the counter, we were attracted by the exquisite cake cabinet. Every cake is very delicate and looks good.

When we walk into the cafe, we are greeted by a warm, cosy ambience due to the authentic renovation of the cafe. This café has a careful arrangement of tables of different sizes for different customer groups. This café also offers brunch, pasta and more. If you love dessert, you must not miss Sorella cafe. Their handmade hand-made spirit will surely bring you full of emotion and surprise.

Mix Fruit Tart (RM15.90)

At first, it seems to be deeply attracted. Personally, the fruit tower is a very simple dessert. As long as the tart is fragrant, the custard cream is creamy, and the fresh fruit will basically be delicious. It is worth mentioning that their custard cream are very fragrant and slippery. It is definitely not made with artificial flavours. It’s the taste of a natural vanilla clip, with a hint of milky but not sweet or greasy. Added the texture of the dessert.

Strawberry Shortcake (RM12.90)

Classic Strawberry Shortcake is a family favourite dessert. Tender shortcake biscuits are topped with juicy strawberries and whipped cream for a delightful dessert. Strawberry shortcake is a classic dessert because who doesn’t love tender, flaky biscuits topped with fresh strawberries and fluffy whipped cream.

Signature Lemon Tart (RM12.90)

A traditional French-style lemon tart with creamy, dreamy lemon curd filling, that tastes just like the ones in Paris. It has shallow sides, a crumbly, sweet, cookie-like crust, and classic lemon curd filling with just enough butter to make it creamy and not too sour. Since the filling is quite rich, the lemon layer isn’t very thick.

Overall, it was really a great experience to have our time in Sorella Café.

Traffic Light Waffle (RM18.90)

The hot waffle is served with strawberries, kiwis, and peach and vanilla ice cream. This fruit waffle is one of their signature dessert, with almost one serving per table. Using the natural and vivid colours of the fruit to make the food looks more delicious. The name of this dessert "traffic light" is also very relevant. The full fruit made us almost forget the ice cream caught in the waffle. Waffle tasted very good, it is crispy and soft inside, and the sweetness is moderate, so that the natural sweetness of the fruit can be exerted. The store also has a small jar of chocolate sauce that can be served with the waffle.

Concrete floors, ceiling-to-floor windows, elements of wood and metal, and splashes of a rustic vibe make up the cosy environment at Workshop Cafe and Bar. Patrons can come and dine in an establishment with a varied assortment of delights and dishes. If one is looking to fill their belly with a fantastic flourish of food or sip on a cup of coffee, this is a great place to have it all.

The Sugar Pantry

This time, we visited a cosy tea house/bakery –The Sugar Pantry is a beautiful place for afternoon tea. The Sugar Pantry is one of the well-known for housing the best coffee houses in Taman Molek. It is a small but cozy patisserie cafe with the combination of Japanese and French style in their luscious desserts. As you enter the place, the simple yet charming interior will greet you.

The Sugar pantry served delectable french desserts. They offered variety of choices from cakes, pastries, macaroons to chocolates. All their pastry products were homemade and handcrafted like a piece of art. They also offered variety of drinks from coffee, tea to fresh healthy fruit juices.

And recently, they launched exquisitely delicious desserts that we surely can’t resist! The Berry Macaron Queen and Giant Durian Macaron Sundae.

The Sugar Pantry cafe has a double storey space. The first floor of the café has the display pastries and bakeries for customers to pick and go whereas the second floor is mainly for dine-in customers. 

When enter into the cafe, the environment is bright, clean and neat. It is quite homey with bright cushy lights. The cafe is neatly design with simplest decors. It uses a lot of light wood tones to decorate the environment. It is just like a cake showrooms as they have three big display counters. Every cakes in the counters are beautiful and decorated with much creativity and precision. The furniture and decors are kept in a simple minimalist way and gives a very clean impression. 

The cafe was absolutely relaxing. The ambience was calm and it was the best place to enjoy a good conversation with friends. The staffs were polite and courteous. They recommended us their best selling pastries and drinks.

Berry Macaron Queen (RM 32)

Deliciousness: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗 

The staff recommended us their best selling dessert, the "Berry Macaron Queen". We ordered and finished it within five minutes. It was so tasty that we could not constrained myself by finishing it quickly. Macaron is a chic and delicious French treat. Berry Macaron Queen comes with fresh straberry. The bottom part is vanilla cheesecake, and the upper part is filled with mochi doughnut, raspberry sorbet, and berry sauce. The price was RM32.00. This dessert was amazing although it was a little bit pricey. The texture was nice and the sweetness was excellent. 

We think that The Sugar Pantry is a great place to have delicious dessert. With the inspired oriental teahouse setup, it is best to chill at the café with the sweet treats and FREE Wifi. Will definitely come back and try their other homemade desserts.
